    The testimony was nice but the defendant needed to chill with the tuff guy hood act. It became overbearing.

    Judge Mathis really be picking and choosing. The way the defendant conducted himself in court was disgusting and I hope no one is really allowing him to be around disabled children and adults.

      I concur with you. I would take it even further. Mental health, disability care in this country is a DISASTER, addiction treatment, another joke. No matter what side or party you are with, that is a fact. Now we have the new generations coming in. America is in a ton of trouble.....we have so many problems, the blessings are disappearing.

      Justien, I TOTALLY agree with you. I WILL also say.....I have met FORMER addicts and even addiction counselors......one time I met a former nurse who had training in addiction for 6 years of working with people with serious addiction problems. Maybe he had addiction himself in his life......but would I trust him to care for addicted people, mentally distraught people? He was awesome with me.......some nurses....this case is not nece. the case of every medical professional, who have addictions, too. But I agree with you, sir........this case is different of course.

      Honestly? I think he’s probably good at it but he’s triggered by threats against his family. There are some triggers I have that are similar. If someone threatens a loved one I will act out of character.

      Classic signs of being a bully: he's big, argumentative, quick to cut people off, and walks with a cadence like he can do whatever he wants. The judge is right. People don't fight no more. No one would fight that man, they would try to shoot him! He just didn't meet the right one in this particular case that would do that. Smh.

    I hate when the judge jokes about someone’s past when clearly something was going on during that time. The man turned his life around, did a whole 180°. Why call him a dope fiend and joke about previous drug use? That irks my nerves, smh. & The defendant need to drop that “I’m bigger than you, I’m from the street, be scared of me” act. It’s very tired and overbearing.

    I don't believe it was a "threat", but rather a soft "insult". He was trying to call him a lacking man, and that his family will suffer because of it, hence his sadness. Lame yes, threatening no.

      That's how I took it too. People say "take it how you want to" or "take it how you want it" all the time. He really was just accusing the man of being broke. And I also feel like in other cases JM has written off similar threats when it was clear that the person doing the "threatening" was clearly not a threat. JM gets it right often but not all the time.

      It’s more work than you think. You invest a lot. Training. License fees every couple years. Equipment(cameras etc) websites. Transportation and time/scheduling. It’s alota work/effort and don’t always result in a rental

    That was not a threat. He said feel sorry for the family because they have to deal with the defendant. I think what hurt him was the part about getting his money by any means. Judge you know that wasn't a threat though.

    Mathis sometimes comes off like one of those kids that wants to fit in so they pick and choose… he wanted to be in such good regard with the defendant for what? So that he could get credit ? From who? He does this a lot … he defends a whole lot of bums be it abusive men.. dead beat fathers etc. let a woman had come into court acting belligerent like the defendant and he would have lit her up. I’m over the weird picking and choosing and the bias he shows in his decision making. You are court appointed… do right and act accordingly. Whew ghetto!

    Plaintiff's intro was so slick and rehearsed. I'm such a sucker bc I believed him. But, he couldn't have changed that much if he's threatening ppl. Def's no better w how argumentative he was w the Plaintiff. When he told JM, "Listen," I looked at my screen bc I knew JM was about to go off 🤣

      Im with you on that. When does someone telling you that would be ashamed becomes a threat. I think what hurt him when he stated he will get his money by any means. But if the way they were implying it, it was the feel sorry for you as a threat. If so, the defendant should have lost, he was more threatening than the plantiff

    Bad judgement! I grew up in those same streets and the plaintiff never physically threatened the defendant. I feel sorry for the defendant's family too and you can take that any way you want. This judge needs to stop using people's backgrounds against them.

    I have mixed feelings about this verdict. I believe the defendant does owe the plaintiff money and an apology. The defendant was right to feel threatened by the plaintiffs suggestions of getting the money by whatever means, it's understandable lool. My issue is that the text chain between both of them could be interpreted in a number of ways. One interpretation is that of two angry "friends" just upset over the outcome of the situation and bad words and mild threats were exchanged. I don't believe that would be harassment seeing as it was only that one time, unless I'm mistaken. I personally would've dismissed the case or ruled in favor of the plaintiff who had a stronger case🤷🏿‍♀️.
    P.s. another lesson learned in why helping friends, acquaintances, people from the neighborhood always seems to backfire 😭🤦🏿‍♀️

    So the defendant say listen and Judge Mathis didn't find him contemptuous but when the plantiff was explaining he was working on the case with another man but Judge Mathis call him a crackhead. Wow Judge Mathis got it wrong here. That was hardly harassment.

    That was a terrible judgement. This man did all this work and he has to pay $300.00 over his judgement. The judge could’ve gotten the defendant for perjury. Bad call J.M.

    I’m from NYC and we are a bit aggressive. As a person viewing the case the defendant is extremely AGGRESSIVE. Than again the plaintiff you have been off dope long enough to know you don’t threaten someone’s family

      By saying " I feel sorry for your family " too me is not a threat but a show of pitty. If that person takes it as a threat that's ignorance and pride mixed in with anger because they cannot fix there situation.

    I work with people with disabilities and it’s so many big tough guys just like that . They use fear and intimidation because we do have big aggressive and explosive behaviors but they usually get fired after a while for abuse .

    I don’t agree with judge Mathis on his verdict. The defendant was very aggressive & I believe the older gentleman. Also that wasn’t a threat and his words didn’t cause no pain & suffering.
