    This is Jolee Bindo's story all over again. Basically, Revan taking Jolee's words to heart, as when Jolee let his wife go, she went on to kill many. Now that Revan's lover has fallen, he is forced to kill her. He didn't want to do so, but he had to or so he believed. It's tragic for sure, but it feels ooc for Revan tbh. Either male or female, male Revan sees Bastila as a lover and female sees Bastila as a sister, so I can't really see this ending making sense either way.

    • @СергейШевелюга
      @СергейШевелюга 3 месяца назад

      I agree. When I played Kotor as an orthodox Jedi, I didn't form any attachments to Bastila. And the story of Jolee, his wife and her
      Falling to the dark side of the force convinced me that, as a defender of harmony and balance, I must kill Bastila. And I didn't even get dark side points, even though I didn't get light side points. Apparently the Force does not consider killing her evil, since Revan did not do it out of malice. Since Revan did not have a romantic relationship with Bastila, I did not even try to use love to return her to the light side... And in the end, her death was the only way out.

    • @tonydiego2566
      @tonydiego2566 3 месяца назад

      I find it ironic that Revan is credited for being redeemed in this ending, yet Bastilla was not given the same opportunity to redeem herself.
      She became a Sith for a brief period of time and committed far less harm compared to Revan, yet her atrocities are unforgivable in the eyes of the Council when Revan’s were not.
      Make it make sense.

      Not necessarily. A female dark side Revan might decide to kill Bastila just out of sheer bitchiness. Some women only make male friends, not female friends. Also killing Bastila would sever the bond between them, which could be a liability and a serious weakness for Darth Revan in the future. Maybe it's something even simpler. Maybe the team that worked on the story arc for Juhani also worked on the story arc for Bastila. Maybe the option to kill wasn't an all-too-encompassing conspiracy but just the preference of the teams or a single person who wrote the dialogue and options, and because they were on a time crunch to get it done, they left it in there.

    Eh, if most Jedi wars are about former Jedi who turned into the dark side and the role of the Jedi is to guard against the dark side AND a trained military can defeat a large number of (evil) force users (ep III), then why won't the Jedi Order simply self-dissolve in order to get rid of the problem they are the cause of in the first place?

    • @timonsolus
      @timonsolus 2 года назад +2

      There have been cases in the Star Wars Expanded Universe where force sensitive beings have been able to learn the ways of the dark side of the Force without any Jedi training of any kind whatsoever. Usually through discovering ancient Sith relics lost for centuries or millenia, sometimes through being contacted by evil dark side spirits of long dead Sith.
      So disbanding the Jedi Order and banning the Jedi teachings won't be enough to prevent the eventual rise of the Dark Side. All it would do is delay the inevitable.

First, most of the wars are fought amongst the Jedi of various provenance and second, most of the fallen Jedi had had some training in the light side. @@suddenimpulse030 I know it's a silly take, as is any attempt to rationalize the SW universe to our standards. I'm just goofing around. What I'm saying is that since we rarely see non-Force user generated conflict and there are relatively few entities who are powerful enough to use the Force, the interest of the wider population would be not to train, but to eliminate such creatures for the good of the galaxy at large.

    I think this hypocrisy is supposed to expose how twisted the Jedi Order has become and will remain. The Jedi Oath is simply "There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force.". At no point is "you cannot have a family, marry, have kids, etc." mentioned. In fact, IIRC, one of the Jedi masters in the prequel trilogy is one of very few males born to his species every generation, so he has to return yearly to impregnate 100+ females.

      Luke's Jedi order brought back love and romance. At least in Legends, I believe. Not Disney's Luke, that was awful. All they were trying to do was shoe-horn in their own new characters.
      Luke also encouraged Jedi to marry and that made the next generations of Jedi even stronger. There is a genetic component to the force too so not only were they genetically stronger but also now they fought for something real; Family and love instead of dogma. They also studied the dark side extensively, instead of hiding their students from it. So when a student fell, it was even more terrible. It took years to get up to Palatine. When one of Luke's Jedi fell, and they did fall, it went up to 10 real quick.
      Disney is truly one of the worst things that happened to Star Wars. But think what we will get once it goes to the public domain! Star wars will thrive there and ripple through generations for decades to come. The birth of modern mythology!

    Main reason I can’t do a darkside playthrough is because I can’t kill Bastila. I hate her so much and her survival is a disgrace.
