      It was introduced as a native feature in 2013.
      You've been able to export a presentation as a video since the 90s though I think.

    Thank you! I tried it before I finished watching the video and just right clicked to save the video and it saved as an mp4 (obviously I don't get a lot of the functions like HD when I do this, but that's not needed) This is so much better than other screen recorders! You are a life saver.

    Great video Kevin. Learned a number of things I will apply to my video's. By the way saving the file as a mp4 can also be done directly in the powerpoint by right click and save as. So I don't use the export to.

    You are a rock star! Efficient & clear in your presentation! Been rambling around trying to find a good screen recorder to create tutorials for new colleague.     Another nice clear and concise instructional video. There is also a screen recorder in the OneNote 2016 but not in the WIN10 version. But the WIN10 version has a dictation tool not in OneNote 2016. You might like to make a tutorial about these.

    Super helpful! The only thing that I would add is when you export the video, you need to change the number of seconds per slide if your recording on that slide is longer than 5 seconds. My lesson on the slide was 10 minutes long, so I had to update that. Everything else was super helpful!

      I've got the same problem. It automatically records my standard input device (microphone). Is there any way to change the audio source? Thank you very much in advance!

    Because of the stay in place order, the company where I work is doing education on line. This video showed me how to record my screen so I can make a tutorial video, post to RUclips & teach my co-workers how to learn our new learning management system (LMS) the company is implementing.     I tried it. The screen recording works, but when I played it back and listened to its audio, I noticed that the recorder turned on my computer's microphone and recorded sounds from that instead of from the video I tried to screen-record. Do you know how to fix this? 🔉❌

      That is my question too - Is it possible for PowerPoint to record computer audio instead of the Mic? Seems like the screen capture only captures the mic.

      @@Affixton96 good to know - I am doing the same, using OBS and sometimes use Xbox Game screen recorder built into Windows 10 for simpler quick recordings.

    Hi Kevin, you can also right click on the video and save the video. I made a small handout for my colleagues how to use onscreen recording and this was on option 2.

    Hi Kevin! Awesome video. Is it possible to move the control dock to a different position on the screen or maybe exclude the control dock from recording? It would be cool to record without the control dock popping up when you are moving the mouse to the top screen

    Really great tutorial! Thank you! Is it possible to do a screen recording like this within a larger PPT video? How would that playback if you're recording your voice over with slides? Would you just stay silent for the slide with the screen capture? I'm asking because I want to record my introductory lecture and along with my regular lecture points, I will need to do things like go through the course syllabus (pdf file) and explain to students how to use our university's online course platform.

    When exporting my PP presentation as a video, the music doesn't play back smoothly. I have no recordings or narratives in my PP, only 2 audio clips. Can you please help me solve this?

    Hey Kevin, this is great. Do you know if there is also any way to record the system audio to please? i.e. to capture the sound from a video that is playing whilst recording the screen. It only seems to capture sound from the mic. Cheers.

    Very cool. I have an idea, but it may be a bit more complicated, but I would like to see the limits of word processing in excel. Not just placing a word doc in excel, but using excel to create as much of the same look of a word doc with a mix of word processing and tables.

    Is it possible to record a video using Microsoft Office PowerPoint even I am offline, in the field? MS Office becomes read-only (unable to edit) unless the computer is connected to the internet.

    ** THIS IS MUCH BETTER ** then using the Windows + G. (xbox recorder) that is also native in Windows. I am SO GLAD I saw this video. Was trying to record some tutorial videos for work, with my work issued laptop and am not able to install any 3rd party applications, or really adjust too many settings. The output of the Windows + G option was considerably less quality even with the highest settings. The Power Point method is awesome with no degradation at all to the final video. Brilliant!!
