It is not easy keep the orchard in good shape. Keep up good and hard work!!
Thanks!!
Yeah, my yard ha s lot of gophers 🤨 they are why I’ve had to plant EVERYTHING in containers…
Do what you've gotta do!!
Get ‘em!
Let's go!
*How have you gotten rid of digging/burrowing pests in your garden?!?*
Buy the "Gopher Hawk": amzn.to/3MSyKim
Gopher/Mole Poison Bait: amzn.to/3O9dwOg
I've had the same problems with gophers/voles as well. A couple years ago I lost a pomegranate, avocado, and fig tree. I ended up buying Digger's gopher wire baskets to protect any new trees I've planted. Haven't lost any tree since. I do still see mounds of dirt from time to time but no damage to the trees.
Yeah, starting over with trees is a great opportunity to replant with some protection. Pesky rodents!
Dang gophers, this is a typical day at my house as well, with kids and all lol
Battling the gophers and delighting the kids 😂
We have had pretty good luck with the gopher hawk. I find it works the best if you find an entrance - clean off the entire mound, find the hole.. Then clean the dirt out of the hole, exposing the tunnel. Then lightly put the gopher hawk into the hole. The gopher will sense that the hole is open, and come out to close it again. Blam!
The Yard Butler doesn't have any augur. All it has is a little door in the bottom. When you turn the crank, the door opens.
Spoken as someone who's had their fair share of gopher experiences. That's all correct! Good calls on that stuff! Also, you're totally right about the yard Butler. It uses gravity to drop poison down and pops out the little door.
@@TheBusyGardener We have given up on the Yard Butler and similar. They break. We replaced it with a Wilco 70600. This is a serious tool, made to last. I don't anticipate ever having to replace it. One really cool feature - it has a threaded connection for a bait container. So you just screw the container onto the tool. You don't have to pour the bait in.
Any update on your gophers? Did you lose more trees? I am trying to decide if I need to put down gopher baskets or rely on trapping
Never lost any more trees! In fact, I haven't seen any gopher mounds anywhere since we used the gopher hawk and trapped 7 gophers. We feel more confident planting veggies in the ground this year knowing we've got a way to easily stop gopher issues
Mr Cameron missing your videos but i see you are busy getting your gophers out of your orchard. hope it works and hope to see you soon
Hi Grace! A bunch of travel and taking care of my dad's affairs (passed away a couple months ago 😢) has crunched a lot of typical filming time! I'me filming some upcoming vids, so stay tuned :)
@@TheBusyGardener SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS cya soon
@@graceholland4853 Thanks, Grace! Next video is in edit right now and two more sorting footage
I had same problem with Gopher but those Gopher disappeared after street cat came in my garden with 3 baby cats.
Seriously, the predators in our area are falling asleep on the job!
Yes, I live not too far from you ( near poway). I have started my backyard orchard almost same time with you.
Moles and Gopher were in my garden but not anymore.
Leaf foot bugs are all over my pomegranates
I spotted one on my pomegranates for the first time this year! Argh!!! 😠
My war on continuous they never go away once they find a garden.
One Gopher at a time! They are thankfully not prolific breeders (unlike rats), so one killed is big progress
Life. Liberty. Property.
Burrowing mammals are waging war on us this year! Rabbits, ground squirrels, gophers 😩
This means WAR.
Boom

You are lucky you can deal with them. Here in Australia, we have possums climbing versions that eat everything. But we can't touch them, even as their populations explode.
Who would actually know if you did? Kill and bury them. Don't say a word about it. Done.
Oh no!! We've got possums too, but lots of natural predators here to keep their numbers down. Are you prohibited from killing possums?
@@TheBusyGardener you have possums? Australian possums? I know you have a possum but they are not in the same family group as ours.
And yes, all Australian animals are protected and cannot be touched.
I don't know how bad your gopher problems are but one is to many. Remember to shove the dead back into the tunnel. They won't use that run anymore if there is a deceased gopher down there. The Hawk looks like a pretty good tool. I always used Mac-a-bee traps. The hawk is similar but I think easier to use. Get enough dead gophers in the tunnels they will move on. Your neighbors won't be happy but thats where they probably came from in the first place!
You inspired me to wage war on these gophers. I hate those pests.
Go get 'em!
Go to war. Save the food
We take no prisoners!
Don't mind to share a little but these guys are really destructive. Sorry but no other way. Go in peace, little ones.
It's hard, but our garden and yard are off limits to destruction
