Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi is maybe my all time favourite character. The first part of the movie, until they get back to the rebels, is Empire level for me. The throne room sequence is maybe my all time favourite scene. Still, this movie is the weakest of the three. Why? Because of the freaking ewoks! Wait, that's not true. I don't have any problems with the ewoks. I have a gigantic problem with the ewoks beating the Empire's elite soldiers. If they made somthing like this today, there'd be an outrage. People would riot until there's nothing left of this planet but an atomic wasteland populated by only a few crazy survivors, riding hellish cars on fire while shouting "Witness me!".

True, Luke had to be seen in mortal danger for Vader to defy the Emperor and try to save his son. Still, Yoda left Luke to figure stuff out for himself. It's understandable that Luke fails in Episode VII and disappears. No one ever gave him a template on how to properly train Jedi.

In reference to them discussing the nod between Boba Fett and Leia, in disguise:
“That's why when major badasses greet each other in movies, they don't say anything, they just nod. The nod means, 'I' am a badass, and I recognize that you, too, are a badass,' but they don't say anything because they're Wolverine and Magneto and it would mess up their vibe to explain.”

Noticed a couple things on this run through I hadn't seen before on the special edition. The common graphics like the AT-ST tripping on logs, dark outline of the Falcon as it was weaving back and forth towards the screen, the edited box around the Death Star when coming out of hyper space. But the thing never noticed before, the crowd surfing stormtrooper on Coruscant, right before the image of the trooper leaves the screen, you can also hear the Wilhelm scream among the chanting. Subtitles on Naboo: "Wesa Free". Right before that scene as well.

In the movies AT-AT'S are just referred to as Imperial Walkers. The AT-AT designation was just for toys and whatnot.
Over the years different Star Wars media (commercials, video games) have pronounced it both ways. So you can pretty much call it whatever you want as there is no "official cannon" pronunciation.

Actually in Marvel's Princess Leia issue no. 2, she goes to Naboo and at one point see a still mural of her mother Padme and for a moment she moves to face Leia with sadness in her face. I'm thinking she had to been referencing that moment she in the Force.

That line they were talking about at the Sarlac pit from Han Solo is before the scene they are talking about. It's when they are approaching the pit; not when he was trying to shoot the Sarlac to free Lando. He says it to Luke. "I think my eyes are getting better. Now instead of a big dark blur, I see a big bright blur."

Yes Obi Wan and Jabba have crossed paths. During the Clone Wars him and Vos go to Jabba's palace to find Zero.
As for Qui Gon not disappearing like Yoda and Obi Wan, if you watch the Clone Wars as well it shows that Qui Gon had to discover the secrets of the force after life after he died, so he couldn't take his image with him, but he found a way to do it with his conscious. When he trained Obi Wan and Yoda though, they found a way to keep their image, having known the secrets before their death.
And they keep mentioning Rex in Rebels.... But he was Anakin's Commander in Clone Wars...that should mean more than him being in Rebels (which is also cool)

Great commentary, I enjoyed all of them, including the MoS commentary. I do have to say that I think listening to you guys talk about this movie has changed my opinion on some parts. I was three years old when this movie came out, but I grew up watching all the star wars movie as a kid. Back then the lightsaber fights were some of the coolest things I had ever seen. When the prequels came along the lightsaber duels were kicked into overdrive and became a lot more kinetic and active. Up until now I believed that better choreography equaled a better duel, but as Campea pointed out in this commentary, the final fight between Luke and Vader, while not on the same level of any of the prequel duels choreography-wise, I do think it is one of the best duels in the saga because there was feeling there, emotions--something many of the duels in the prequels was lacking. That said, I still maintain that the Ewoks providing a significant amount of a distraction for the empire to allow the rebels to take out the shield generator...I'm sorry, I still don't buy it. I don't hate the ewoks, and that scene where the one died and his buddy cried is definitely a heartfelt moment, but I don't think the empire would have fallen to them so easily. I know, I know, story and plot, its not real, I get that. Anyways, those are just some of my thoughts, but again I enjoy watching movie with you guys and look forward to watching more. Take care!
Oh, and Revenge Of The Sith the best movie in the trilogy, just saying ;)

I really wish this movie just had Obi-Wan just say that he lied to Luke about Vader, rather than just throw a complete forced-in attempt to explain why Obi-Wan used the words he choose in the first movie. Just have him say that he lied and that he did what he thought was right.

I love this commentary but I have to disagree with Campea and Schnepp's comments on the ending theme song. I love the newest edition in replacement of the 'Yub Nub" song because to me, it felt more real. Going from Vader's funeral to various planets and seeing everyone celebrating after the empire's defeat made the song fit perfect. But at the same time, it made me very sad as a huge star wars fan. Reason being because seeing Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, Lando, C3P-O and R2-D2 told me that all good things must come to an end. Seeing Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin's force ghosts at the end hit it home for me as well. Look, I love Star Wars and I totally agree with Campea, Return of the Jedi is my favorite as well.

I dont mind the Vader changes in this movie.
I like the added no's, because it's like in Episode 3 the last words Anakin says before Vader fully takes over is "No", and the first words Anakin says when coming back is also "no". As for The Heyden ghost. I see it as where Obi-Wan and Yoda wanted Luke to see them as they looked when they died. Anakin wanted his son to see him as the great Jedi he was told Anakin was, and not like Vader. The eye thing, they changed the color to match the prequels. So what it's just eye colors. That is still the original actor.

I think Bib Fortuna is just supposed to be deformed ... and I think he was always supposed to be messed up, whether he got sick, was injured or just born that way.

+MorsecodeZ I remember reading somewhere that he is indeed deformed by his own debaucherous, evil lifestyle. It's a bit silly, but fits with the fantasy elements of Star Wars, like all the Sith being deformed by the Dark Side / they're own evil as well.

the one thing i never got about this movie. Why does vader save the emperor? luke gave in and strikes at the emperor in anger. therefore turning him to the dark side.

Shnepp's mini movie about the scout troopers sounds awesome. Could be the "Troops" sequel....

+charley15z Do you know what prequel means?

    • @BrynjarReynisson
      @BrynjarReynisson 8 лет назад +3

+charley15z Prequel is a movie that is made after another movie but happens before it. Like star wars episodes 1-3 or the hobbit films.

+charley15z Because Mark, Schnepp, and Campea are seeing this, after The Force Awakens.

+Brynjar Reynisson Yep, which is why its prequel, sequel but before the first movie in the movie timeline. You nailed it, without needing to call anybody an insulting name or anything! Good to see that on the internet some times.

I think if you watch any schnepp anything, if you took a shot everytime he says "weird" you would die of alcohol poisoning.
