If there is one advantage an EV over an ICE engine car, is that it doesn't emit pollutants. A country like India would benefit from EV tremendously. Chinese cities were in worse shape than Indian cities in terms of air quality, but the electrification of small vehicles such as delivery vans and motorbikes, have made Chinese cities more livable. I have seen videos of electric bikes and small delivery vans crawling all over the streets i China. One huge benefit is the silence, A blogger compared Chinese streets with that in Taiwan. He reckoned it is noisy in Taiwanese streets because of the two strokes bikes and the likes.

yesss your mostly right. Tata owns JLR and most of the tata branded cars use styling and technology mostly from JLR, like harrier and Safari (The car is a C-segment SUV based on the OmegaArc platform, an essentially re-engineered version of the Jaguar Land Rover D8 platform adopted by models such as Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and Jaguar E-Pace.) hence they can use their technology to level up (yet not up to the level of Chinese automakers in price, safety, technology, and quality).
Indian electric company ola purchases an European electric two-wheeler company and rebadged it as ola two-wheelers and sold it in the Indian market. The point here is that though Indian brands are coming up with good cars for the Indian market, they lack innovation and relay on other countries or companies' tech. Tata ev's make up only upto 50% of the components in-house while the main components like batteries and motors still come from China.
While Chinese on the other hand have poured billions of dollars into this sector and have fully developed their technology from the groundup and hence they command more innovation capacity than any other country. Thanks to strategic thinking, backward integration and cutting-edge manufacturing technology the Chinese automakers have managed to reduce the price of manufacturing to such low prices and still make hefty profits

That is the target market for these cars and other consumer products. India contains a market similar in size to the US market and that is what consumer products companies go after. I think that India presently produces 40% of its electricity by renewables like hydro and solar but I think it could increase it to 70-80 within 10-15 years, as there is presently a moratorium on new fossil fuel plants for electricity generation. The air quality is so bad in cities like Delhi because of agricultural burning of stalks and fossil fuel cars and trucks with low emissions standards.
