Hannah Nguyen Amen. I’m going to feel dirty listening to a different Timon just like I felt dirty when hearing Emma Thompson sing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ instead of Angela Lansbury
I've actually spent my childhood listening to another Timon which is the TV show before seeing the movie. But I agree. No one can do a better timon than Lane can. Lane is Timon
"that everyone is replaceable in Hollywood, except James Earl Jones..." ha ha ha, well him and Robin Williams... have yet to find someone as quick and hilarious as him...
Bill hader is just as funny and talented, just a little bit more well behaved (or maybe just high) then Robin. Watch some of his late night interviews.
Shanata Sukhu Well I mean why would they replace him? I know he's older but he sounds pretty much the exact same. If he's still alive don't replace him unless he doesn't want to do it.
To be completely honest- Nathan Lane and Billy Eichner both do an awesome job on doing the voices of Timon while Ernie Sabella and Seth Rogen do a very nice job on doing the voices of Pumbaa.
I grew up listening to the dutch version of the 1994 Lion King movie in Belgium. I have since had the opportunity to work with the actor who voiced Timon in that version, so it was cool to work with one of my childhood icons.
There's only one Timone, and it's Nathan Lane. Are the producers at Disney snorting something? OMG...he is so talented, bright, witty, hilarious, articulate, thoughtful...a National Treasure, really. If I win a lottery in the next couple of months, I'm off to NYC to see Angels in America.
Canuckmom1958 I feel they have royally messed up by just going for "big name stars" right now rather than proper (voice) actors: zazu was an english bird, because he sounds fancy & is basically a butler, yet as much as I love oliver, even he admits his accent isn't posh, no comparison to atkinson, but since he's british who sounds similar, timone had that pitch/tone, who can we get that sounds similar, I don't know who's playing scar but how can anyone compete with jeremy irons, & beyonce as an actor? Well we all know how well she did in the pink panther & austin powers (okay that was supposed to be stupid), seth seems suitable for pumba, even the smaller roles like cheech & whoopi... I know they weren't going to get the same cast together but this adds to the feeling that its just another way to make a quick buck, these remakes are really annoying me but this one really hits me hard as someone born when this film came out, in africa
@@kurtsudheim825 Scar will be voiced by Chiwetel Eljiofor so don't worry. The role of Scar is in very good hands since Chiwetel is a fantastic and amazing actor. Personally I am excited as all hell for this remake. The thing about these remakes is that they're meant to be reimagined and told over and over from one generation to the next. I love and adore the original Lion King but if they are going to remake something, I want to see them bring in fresh new minds and ideas to the product. A carbon copy replica of the original would be so.... boring. Nostalgic. But boring.
DeadmanInc336 I'm not saying they're all bad actors, but when all you see is beyonce's name at the front of every trailer, that worries/annoys me, it shows to me that it doesn't look like they've thought it out that much/done proper research. Of course chweitel is a good actor & I do like him (he's probably got the best cv there), but think he should play another role, to me the only guy that comes to mind that could play scar is mike shannon. & as nathan said, why does jej keep his role, it just makes it seem SO lazy. I don't have a problem with remakes, but rather how often they're done, sleeping beauty, alice in wonderland & charlie & chocolate factory get done every 50 years, not every decade
@DeadmanInc336 now that I have seen the remake I can assure you that Scar was actually the worst voice actor in this entire film and they should have stuck with Jeremy Irons. Also the whole movie just plain sucked compared to original. And even if this was the original and u didn't have anything to compare it to, at best it would be a 6/10 ranking
HeikkiP if you like the lion king we'll probably like the movie Disney stole the plot and likeness of. Kimba the white lion is the movie Disney stole to make the lion king. Kimba/Simba. They didn't even try.

gomcoclamp unfortunately that's not as true as he might think, as here in africa most people are still very "wary" of "the gays", you jeard what mugabe said...
*Armand Goldman: You do an eclectic celebration of the dance! You do Fosse, Fosse, Fosse! You do Martha Graham, Martha Graham, Martha Graham! Or Twyla, Twyla, Twyla! Or Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd! Or Madonna, Madonna, Madonna!... but you keep it all inside.*
Not if you actually watch all the movies. It’s clearly shown in 1 1/2 that Timon’s motive in teaming up with Pumbaa was all about survival and protection and Pumbaa went along with it because he was desperate for friendship. They became friends and even family but there is absolutely nothing onscreen or in dialogue to suggest an interspecies sexual or romantic relationship between the two.
Nicholas Nolan “Pretty sure” Nathan was pandering to the supposed throngs of people “searching for the closeted gay” in a child movie when he implied Timone had “gone Warthog” and the masses leapt in the “confirmed” bandwagon.
Tala Habern actually I am, I goof off, sing karaoke, and dance. But if someone makes an asinine comment that is clearly untrue, I’m gonna point it out. There is nothing in canon to actually suggest Timon or Pumbaa are gay with one another, or any other animal for that matter. This is only fans projecting their political agenda onto a character.
Not sure if it was a joke, I think Colbert was genuinely confused lol. Nathan's joke about his character could have indicated he played either of them if you haven't seen the movie in a while - and The Lion King was not meant to target Colbert's generation after all.
Not to mention he's shown in the past how little he knows about the movie. He seems to think "morning report" was always there. Even at his age I'm surprised he's not more familiar with the movie, as iconic as it is.
Nothing in Particular Did I say it was? All I said is I love how they got two gay guys to voice Timon. I never said whether they did it on purpose or not.
“However, now that gay rights have come so Far, in This version, Timon can finally marry Pumbaa, and live openly in the Serengeti. Believe me, once you go warthog, you never go back.” 😹😹 Nathan Lane is such a hilarious person!! And I do hope that they Do address the Timon & Pumbaa being lovers. I hope they Are a gay couple, cuz Timon & Pumbaa would make a great example of what foster parents are really like.
One of the greatest actor of theater (and actor short). Capable of playing anything, sulking in Hollywood. From Birdcage to Mouse Hunt, Or it's a theatrical production : Iceman Cometh, The Producers, The Nance, Angels In America, The Odd Couple. Or tv show : Good Wife, American Crime vs Oj Simpson, Penny Dreadful : City Of Angels, Encore Encore. Love him !
I don't really know why they didn't have Nathan reprise his role since he's clearly still active and interested, but Billy did do a wonderful job. I ended up leaving the theater feeling like Timon was the star of the movie lol
Nathan lane is one of the most underrated actors out there.....love him
Well..he is an emmy winner
I love hearing his voice🤗
Junior Ramirez not really underrated! He made himself a very known treasure.
Loved him in BirdCage
He was awesome in “Mousehunt”
No one is a better Timon than Nathan!!!!!!
Hannah Nguyen Amen. I’m going to feel dirty listening to a different Timon just like I felt dirty when hearing Emma Thompson sing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ instead of Angela Lansbury

Hannah Banana No cap...On god no cap
Hannah Banana I loved Nathan Lane as Timon. I wish they could’ve used him again.
"He was very , very complimentary and lovely...very unlike Billy Eichner..."
“Everyone is replaceable..Except James Earl Jones.”
And Jeremy Irons!
Natalie's Channel Nathan Lane
Shout to James Earl Jones for staying alive to reprise is role!!!!
And now I'm imagining Beyoncé singing "Irreplaceable" to the entire voice cast except James Earl Jones.
youswit Didn’t they replace Jeremy Irons with another actor?
Nathan Lane will always be my Timon. Irreplaceable.
Nathan Lane NEEDS to be a guest on the Graham Norton Show. Make it happen BBC
To late for that he's out of the UK
SamKay212 ABSOLUTELY!!! I would watch the crap out of it
There are these things called airplanes...
There are these things called job obligations when working on a play...
There are also these things called schedules, with which you can plan things. Just saying...
"Once you go Warthog you never go back."
Once a shitposter, always a shitposter
"What's next? You and Ryan Gosling in the Birdcage?"
I'm fucking dying! xDDD
Lane is incredible in The Producers and a pure joy in Modern Family.
Pepper! Yasss.
He was really good in the OJ mini series on FX
Also in Austin Powers 3! Hahaha
mr. bialystock...
The producers is such a good remake. It's exactly the movie The original was always meant to be, gay cheese and all
“Hakuna fuckin’ Matata.”
Best way to sum up the remake.
"that everyone is replaceable in Hollywood, except James Earl Jones..." ha ha ha, well him and Robin Williams... have yet to find someone as quick and hilarious as him...
tiny99990 except Hollywood is replacing Robin Williams with Will Smith
yeah except they will find that Will Smith doesn't have a tenth the talent that Robin had... and thats coming from someone who loves Will Smith too...
Bill hader is just as funny and talented, just a little bit more well behaved (or maybe just high) then Robin. Watch some of his late night interviews.
somebody you know Come on! I love some Hader but he doesn’t come close to the greatness of Robin Williams.
If you want to see a comedian who is incredibly quick witted, check out Lee Mack
Nathan is so adorable 💕 Protect him at all costs!

How dare you, sir, what abou Mousehunt?! How dare you..
i agree i love that movie
Love that movie
I thought the same thing! That's one of my favorite movies! LOL
Yeah. Billy Eichner is taking over that role in the remake too. 😜 Eichner will be glad to take over Lane's The Producers role too.
Rezolutionist yes!
So James Earl Jones is coming back but not Nathan Lane? For shame, Disney
how do you recast James Earl Jones though
I was relieved to hear James come back as Vader and Mufasa.
If Disney didn't replace him in Rogue One, they DEFINITELY weren't going to replace him in The Lion King.
Shanata Sukhu Well I mean why would they replace him? I know he's older but he sounds pretty much the exact same. If he's still alive don't replace him unless he doesn't want to do it.
Well come on. You're comparing James Earl Jones to Nathan Lane. Jones' voice is just so legendary and iconic. Nathan Lane though....well....
I am seriously disgusted that he is not going to be Timon. I mean c'mon no one can replace him as Timon! ugh!
I know! If Nathan was going to play the part of Timon again, I would be more excited about the film
Billy was great though so 🤷♂️
Nathan without Ernie is like Timon without Pumbaa
Billy Eichner did a great job actually.
Dr. PewPewSamurai the film sucked though so 🤷♂️
To be completely honest- Nathan Lane and Billy Eichner both do an awesome job on doing the voices of Timon while Ernie Sabella and Seth Rogen do a very nice job on doing the voices of Pumbaa.

I feel like he can probably leap into a showtune for any situation.
Did Nathan forget The Producers?
I actually remember him best from Mousehunt.
NEVER PUT YOUR OWN MONEY IN THE SHOW
Yep, he sure did.
To be fair, the film wasn’t that successful. The main success with that was from the stage version
I saw that movie way after growing up with The Lion King. Watching it, all I could hear was Timon and Simba singing about banging old ladies.
He's so funny still got his jokes
"I could name another of my sucessful films but i dont have one ". Lol
Lol. What about the bird cage? I thought the movie was really good.
@@robbiefarabee6954 yes love he and robin williams together in the bird cage , such a dynamic duo 😁on screen

Mr Bialystock, I can't do it, I can't do it, it's not me.
Nathan hosted a comedy gala in Montreal a couple years back. He was awesome! Really funny man.
I always saw Timon and Pumba as brothers, made kinsman by their trials and tribulations. Never once occurred to me that they were gay.
Mousetrap left me in stitches. Nathan Lane is a treasure.
Aren't these 2 amazingly funny men very physically similar?!
Could pass as brothers. Surprised hardly anyone mentions it
He is so incredibly witty and lovely

I'm dying watching Colbert try to lock it down, and fail. This is fantastic.
Bro I didn’t even know this was happening a year ago and also I never knew he did timones voice
As incredible as Nathan Lane was voicing Timon, Billy Eichner did a tremendous job and pretty much stole the movie.
The very last shot of them, when Stephen says "Angels in America begins previews..." They look like they could be brothers.
THEY WERE GAY CONFIRMED LOL
Mike Rotch Bout damn time
I just watch the new one. Way gay this time
how do you turn down the original timon like-
Nathan Lane is a treasure. If I had one person to choose that I could meet, sit down, and have lunch with, it would be Nathan Lane.
I'm still trying to figure out how in the hell they thought using other voices would be a good idea
He should have mentioned The Producers :D :D :D
The best message ever
He behaves just like Pepper in real life.
Good research Stephen
So he was Pumba, huh?
TIMON!!!! :)
Daniel S it's a joke from a story he told in the 1st clip, before the ad
How DARE he call the great Nathan Lane, Pumba!!!!
He'll always be my Timon. ❤️
I’m confused how do you turn down original voice actors I-
I just realized that timon to pepper from modern family 😂
Now I wanna see Billy and Ryan in Birdcage 😂
Nathan is the BEST timon!!
He was in that movie mouse hunt that came out in the mid 90s. Great movie.
