@@scottporter4524 I’m personally right handed and my back foot is my right foot. You’re back foot should be the foot that your leash is attached to. I think one way to find your back foot is to consider what foot you would kick a soccer ball with. There’s different ways of figuring this out though.

@@ucpaimessouane2475 Yes of course. We intentionally named this video "Beginner Take Off Technique". This is a take off technique that we sometimes use to teach beginners during their first days in either white water or very small waves, as it prevents the bad habit of using the knees. We have 3 take off techniques used for different skill levels and conditions. As you probably already know, not every beginner is able to do a "perfect pop up in 1 motion only" during their first days.

The knees takeoff works way better for me because the take off on my local break is usually bumpy because of alot of chops so being low on my knees holding the rails with both hands allows me to complete longer rides since I don't fall off as much at the start and can stand up and complete the rest of the wave. While most other surfers are falling down all around me they don't know about the knees technique. 😊

Excellent stuff. I am skimboarder. One thing I see beginners always do is knees out instead of knees inside the balls of their feet. Oh and thumbs in, as well. You will fall off if your thumbs point away from your body (kinda like palms up) so keep those thumbs pointed in. These are balance tips you can test on a balance board.

I can feel the wave and I know what its like if I catch it. But I always missed the takeoff. I was thinking too much on the step I have to do to stand up on the board. It may take me another 6 hours, but I hope one day I can go surfing. I dont want to be a pro, I just want to have fun. But the beginning just sucks 😅😅
