Good morning Rita. I'm meeting a few subscribers that are in Radiology like you and I. That's great. MRI techs are some of the best folks in our team here. I hear that in other countries the doctors do indeed perform their own ultrasounds. Not in the USA. We do it for them. This is a really great video. I have watched it many times. Great tip for not peeling off the cover completely from the individual pots. I solved the problem of no names on the pots themselves by adding stickers that I wrote the names on them and stuck them to the pots. Regarding the fear of the gouache getting dry, I think, and this is just an assumption based on some videos of artists who use gouache ,is that those artists use gouache differently to say us who use them in colouring books.they need the gouache to remain moist because the style and how they use the paints ,they need it to stay opaque and easy to lift readily when they do their paintings. Good luck with everything.
Thanks for spending some time at my channel Tara. I also toyed with the idea of labeling the pots, but have not gotten around to it. I'm glad that it is working out for you. Yes, to how artists you gouache in comparison to how colorists use it. I have found a spray that is made by Himi for the purpose of keeping the paints moist and free from mold. Wow…thanks so much for sharing and especially for talking and sharing your thought process. I have been working up my nerve to start doing backgrounds, I have the Kingart Gel Sticks and now I know how to use them, can’t wait to start practicing…very excited!
How do you think they would do in a Camilla d'errico book? I am really interested. I love my kingsart gel sticks. And I am always up for mediums that can make my life easier. Being a busy mom. I love what you have done here.
Jamie, I actually do not own any books by Camilla D'errico. I have seen them on the shelves at Walmart Supercenters before and leafed through them, but never purchased because the titles I saw just were not my style. I got a feel for the paper, I think it is similar to Kirby Rosanes paper, but can't be 100% sure from memory. 😕 So I don't really know. I'm not, overall a fan of the 'manga' style, but I wasn't a fan of kawaii either and warming up to it through Lulu Mayo. I see a title on Amazon by Camila that looks interesting, so I'm going to give it a shot. We'll try Himi Goauche and Kingart Gel Sticks on her pages and see how it goes. I'll keep the channel posted. Wish us luck and stay safe.
Wow, really beautiful work! I've never tried gouache but I've been watching a couple people use it. I was surprised to see the back of the page in perfect condition! I want to try new things. But I also don't like being wasteful. I don't like the idea of sacrificing the back of any page I want to paint. I don't have a printer to just make separate pages, yet. Your lovely work makes me want to definitely try gouache. This was a very helpful video for me! Thank you!💖
I'm so happy that I was able to give you some information that you can use. I also hate being wasteful, so if you are going to try gouache for coloring in books, get a small set and be sure that they are 'gel-based.' I feel those are better for coloring (rather than 'painting') and they can be repurposed for painting on watercolor paper if you don't like them in your coloring books. Waste not, want not (especially $). Good luck. Stay safe.
Is it possible you could post an amazon link to the nail brushes you are using? Thank you for this great video!! The best use of gouache usage video I've seen❤❤
Hi Lizzbeth. Hope you are having a good week so far. Here is the link to the set of brushes that I use: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09787V4M9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Enjoy!
I have arthritis and pencils will hurt after a while so I have been experimenting with neo color II and an alcohol colorless blender which helps control the amount of water perfectly and still no bleed thru! Only thing is i have about 6 blenders going so certain colors don't mix. Helps lessen the amount of pencil I need to put down, and Im getting to the point i don't need much pencil work at all.
Same here! Watercolors and gouaches have allowed me to keep coloring in those times when my hands can't even hold a cup or coffee for too long. For a minute there I thought I was going to have to find some other way to relax, but I love it so much and this coloring media does help.
Hi there fellow RAD traveler! Thanks for the compliment, and thank you for spending some of your time with me on the channel. Do stay safe at your Radiology departments and keep you the good fight.
So helpful! I just got the 48 cup set. Boy, getting those covers off is really tough. Once I get the covers off, I’m excited to use your video to help me along.
OMG! You're right! I did not mention the struggle to get the covers off the cup, but it was. LOL! I hope you enjoy them in your coloring journey. 🎨Always test the paper if you are not sure if they'll play nice. Good luck and stay safe. 🖌
Thank you I just came across you 😊 I have a giant box of Himi (you are right sooooo heavy!) have not used as I was fearful of them drying out - fear gone. 😂 I have wanted to try them in my colouring books but nervous of ruining page with water, just love the results you achieve and you have made me confident to try. Your page is really lovely, and you explained everything so well, thank you. Have subscribed 😊
I'm so happy to hear that this has helped you try out your Himi set. I hope you like them and find them useful in your coloring. Thank you for subbing and for spending some of your time with me at the channel. Stay safe.
Thank you for showing this to us. I am newer to gouache and watercoloring in my books. If I got a set would I just be able to wet brush and dip into the gouache or do I need to invest in a pallette?
I'm glad this video was helpful to you. No, you do not need a separate palette at all. You can dip your brush right into the cups themselves. I use a separate palette because it's easier for me and it helps to keep the main source of pigments as clean as possible. The Himi sets do bring a flat pallette you can to mix your colors and so on. It's really personal preference. Good luck and stay safe.
Hello Bianca, I loved this tutorial and just watched it for the second time. I have a big set of these paints and have not tried them yet. Today may be the day! Question….do you ever use watercolor ground on any coloring pages you plan to paint? I have some that I may try. I’m curious what will happen if switch to another medium for details after using the ground.
Yes, I have experimented with watercolor gesso/ground - the clear option. I also use "Satin Glazing Liquid by Golden" which is an acrylic extender, but you can coat a page with it and let it dry and use watercolor and gouache over it to great results. The only thing that I've noticed is that both products are best used on paper that is somewhat thick rather than too thin. Here are the two that I use: Gesso www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015K109KE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Satin Glaze www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Z3XYEG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Experiment on pages you don't care for before trying these on one you do want to color, just to be safe and pleased with the results. Good luck. ps. Sorry for the delay in response, I've been working extra shifts these past two weeks.
@@BiancaIris33 Thanks for the tips Bianca. I have both of those products so I’ll experiment as you as Suggested. No worries about the delay! I hope you get some time to relax( and color) after working the extra hours! Take care!
Im loving this!!! Excited to learn about a different medium to enhance my coloring experience. Question, the small spatula type “stick” you use when you are lifting up the lids of the paints, where did you find that?

Gesso

Satin Glaze
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Z3XYEG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Experiment on pages you don't care for before trying these on one you do want to color, just to be safe and pleased with the results. Good luck.
ps.
Sorry for the delay in response, I've been working extra shifts these past two weeks.
@@BiancaIris33 Thanks for the tips Bianca. I have both of those products so I’ll experiment as you as
Suggested. No worries about the delay! I hope you get some time to relax( and color) after working the extra hours! Take care!
Love it!
Looks amazing! 😊
Thanks. Stay safe.
Im loving this!!! Excited to learn about a different medium to enhance my coloring experience. Question, the small spatula type “stick” you use when you are lifting up the lids of the paints, where did you find that?
Hi Heather. I'm glad you are finding tips on the channel for new mediums to experiment with. As for the tool I use, it is this:

Hey Brenda, were you still looking for the square palette I use? It's a removable tray from this palette:

Hope this helps.
Hi actually I found it after I ask you but thank you very much. I ordered two Thank you @@BiancaIris33
I would like to get some of the Hemi Gouache. Which set would you suggest I get for my first set? This has been extremely helpful, and I would like to try it for myself.
I honestly recommend the smallest set to start if you've never used gouache before. I started with the 18 set and then just fell in love with the brand. Good luck!
Here is the one I started with:

@@BiancaIris33 I'm so excited, I just bought my first set of Gouache Jelly paints. They are from Michael's though, so they are Artist's Loft brand. But from what I can tell they are just like what you have. I was also able to get them for 50% off.
Do you have Amazon links to the soft brushes?
Here are the 3 most recent purchases I made for soft brushes (for miniature painting and nail art) that I use:

OMG i thought i was the only one using extensive gouache in coloring books! too cool,, I subscribed. Thank you for the great tips about the brushes! it was something I have been struggling with. I use turner brand and I love the opacity. I'll have to make a video to share with you. I too have hand trouble and I love using other media as well. Thank you again. Good job making the video, do you do Instagram or any other social media? I don't have an account there, maybe I might start one, as long as this computer stuff doesn't consume too much time. I hope you have a great day, hopefully out of the orange and into the blues and pinks :)
Hi there! Thanks for spending some time at my channel. Yes, try brushes intended for nail art with your gouaches in coloring books. They have different sizes and are softer on the pages. Please let me know when you feature Turner, I'm unfamiliar and would like to see. I have an IG account, but I'm super lazy keeping up with it these days. I'm with you on the not letting all the electronics take over one's life. That gets tedious. See in the next video, until then stay safe!
