  • I bought some Marshall Major IV Bluetooth Headphones. They're good. But are they as good as Marshall's mid-priced champ, the Major III?

    I've been using Major III since 2021, and as of February 2024, they can't be charged. It's been with me every single day! The biggest plus is that it never dies out, and the sound quality is just absolutely satisfying. After its initial death of my headphone, without any hesitation, I ordered Major IV. If anyone is hesitant about buying these, well, you shouldn't! Best in the market, seriously!

    i use the major 3 Bluetooth everyday for a year now and i charge them once a week and they work great with amazing sound quality
    I love the design and easily replaceable earcups (you can just twist them off!) and the knob thingy is genius i have no idea why other headphones don't have it.
    10/10 headphones no complaints.

    I agree with your argument that Major IV has a little bit less detail in mid-range. I have been using Major IV since mid-January. Battery life is amazing. It lasts more than 10 days and I use them for at least 6 hours per day. Sound is also really good, especially for rock, metal, folk and funk genres. It is amazing to listen to Rammstein and Parcels with Major IV. Yet, I still wonder if Monitor II is better in terms of sound clarity. Sometimes, it feels like a bit muddy. (For instance during the songs like Mary On A Cross by Ghost) I have a curiosity as to what I miss as I did not buy Monitor II.

    Late to the party here, but just in time for me and I was really struggling to decide and well, being a much more casual listener despite making music on my own I will probably going with the IV's seeing as they cater to a more casual on the go listener rather than an audiophile, and not being much of a metalhead I suppose nothing breaks the deal for me with the IV's, and they are easier to get where I live right now as almost all III's are out of stock everywhere. And the battery life seems like a wonderful addition. Thanks for the review!

    Awesome review! I'm a musician myself and would obivously not mix too much in these but they are still amazing headphones for everyday use(To and from work and in my laptop). I'm now on my third pair(A pair of Major III). The build quality is not the absolute best but I use these everyday and bring them out and about a lot. Have had mine for about over 2 years and will definetely get a pair of IVs now since i have some bluetooth trouble with mine, but i forgive them since is use them very much like i said.

    The biggest bad difference between the 3rd and the 4th marshall major for me is the impossibility to hear bluetootn signal and wire signal on the 4th in contradistinction to the 3rd. I bought the 3rd for training on guitar,and i was kindly surprised that i can use metronome with bluetooth and guitar with wire at the same time. But its impossible with the 4th one. 😒 it's too sad for me. Also the 3rd model had the better wire - you may have stereo when you're using the mono out

If you’re a DJ like me or more into flat sound I’d recommend II because III and perhaps IV got boosted on bass & highs which is good for rock sounds but bad for monitoring / DJ music with lots of bass & high frequencies.

    How is the clamping force with this? Can you wear it for hours straight?

    • @crunchchannel
      @crunchchannel  3 года назад +1

      I usually don’t wear it more than about two hours at a time, at that point I find my ears a little warm and uncomfortable but to be fair, I don’t think I’ve ever worn another set of on-ears or over-ears that are any better. I don’t get a headache whatsoever from the clamping pressure (and I’m pretty sensitive to pressure).

    A few days ago I've buyed original (there a lot of fake of this headphones exists) Marshall Major III brown wired on aftermarket for $20, it was in good condition. I wasn't expecting them to sound good, because I've used a lot of cHi-Fi iems (7Hz Salnotes Zero, Moondrop Chu, KBear KS2, KZ EDX Pro and AKG K240 Stidio), they're sounds gorgeous, but the sound of Marshalls... It's not flawless, but it's very individual and aggressive, exactly what I love in music. Main flaws is VERY heavy pressing headband, peeling leatherette and in some places unreliable engineering solutions (btw, this is fixed by 3D printed parts). Otherwise, they are perfect, and their appearance is unrealistically gorgeous.

    I have had my major 3 for 3 years, and now the wire is messed up. That's why I want to buy Marshall Major 4. Because they are long-lasting, although I can re-buy the Major 3 or upgrade, so I just decide to upgrade even though there is a major price difference between the 2. NO idea if I made the right call, but I hope this one will last me 3 more years. Any advice ?

    I'd like to know if the fact that Major IV doesn't have Aptx change something about how it sounds compared to the Major III?
    In my case, I have the Mid (non ANC one and does have Aptx) and I'd like to get the Major for outside as it is smaller.

    • @crunchchannel
      @crunchchannel  3 года назад +2

      I don’t know, the difference between the 3 and 4 is subtle. I think it’s more of a preference thing, if I pull up an equalizer and bring the 100hz band down and the 2k band up just a touch, the 4 sounds almost exactly like the 3.

    • @firechikara
      @firechikara 3 года назад

      @@crunchchannel Thank you, I appreciate your review.
      I've ordered mine (a Christmas gift in advance haha), just received it and it is much much more confortable than the MID on the ears.
      The size of the cushion are almost at the same size while being a little bit smaller and lighter (the MID was so tight, it gave me headache in long term use).
      As for the sound, pretty good, although I use a Bluetooth 4 dongle so I think it's not optimal.
      But so far, I'm pretty satisfied.
