72 Seasons is a homage to 90's Metallica just like Death Magnetic was a homage to 80's Metallica. Me personally, I absolutely love the Yellow Album.
Now I'm ready for another garage album release Hopefully I remember in 2016 Kirk mentioned there may be another one day .
I think it’s thrashier than the 9”’s material, even the black album. This and hardwired sit somewhere between Justice and black for me. Not as progressive as justice, but thrashier and less radio than black.
@@Metallizombie As Andriy said, the album is kind of a mix of the vibes from Kill em all and load
What does that make hardwired then… lol
I get my fair share of AJFA and Load vibes from this album whereas I feel like hardwires was more KEA and black album and death magnetic harkened back to puppets and justice
If they choose to call it Lux Eterna, people will call it Sux Eterna.
Lars is again ahead of us.

@@doggydog7094 Which is exactly the same?
72 seasons of pain 😅
@@zyriuz2 63 minutes of pure joy. album slaps. grower fosho
@@dekapitatorr yeah i know, i actually love this new album i just said that for comedy, i like that it sounds like a little bit of everything Metallica, tbh it sounds like "black album 2" it sounds like an alternate reality where Metallica released this after black album but still taking inspirations from their past but mostly black album but also threw in some of those groovy ideas from the load/reload stuff the album sounds really cool and the songs are pure bangers!
In the theater release they actually say that the main riff from the title track was written by Kirk, and it blew my mind when I first heard it
The main riff in that song is its only good part though..... :/
yeah
@@FixxxerZ7 I wouldn't agree on that...song could've been trimmed, but I also liked pre chorus, chorus and breakdown....
היית באיילון?
@@FixxxerZ7 I disagree. I kind of like the whole song tbh
Room of Mirrors and Too Far Gone are my favorites on a first listen. Definitely agree about them not choosing the right singles.
Yes! Same here
Couldn’t agree more the last three songs off the album are my personal favorites along with you must burn
Personally I think that You Must Burn! and Sleepwalk my life away are the best ones but I love seeing so many people giving each one of the tracks enough love. It's great that the album has enough tracks to fit many tastes.
I think the problem is that they don’t have the full/final say
@@tombscoot9095 dude, exactly same here!
Shadows Follow should’ve been a freaking single, if not the first or second single. Absolutely killer and my favorite song off the record.
The intro to that song is the most justice like riff since justice imo
yeah I listened all the other tracks today in order this song instantly gave tons more hope but apparently it ended up being best one to me :P
Yep some justice and black album vibes in this one. The only song that actually doesn't feel too long
Chasing Light is the highlight of the album for me. That main riff is just so vibrant, I get the feeling of a sense of curious wonderment, and forward motion.
“LEAN ON MEEE!!!!”
The prechorus and chorus are pretty great
@@AndDeathForAll82 FIGHT THAT FIGHT!
I am there too, plus second half of Inamorata.
The chorus is absolutely amazing. LEAN ON ME!!!!!
In my opinion, “Inamorata” is the best song on the record.
agreed
Their best song since the mid 90s.
@@PerfectSense77 calm down buddy havent u heard All nightmare long
@@trick9037 All Nightmare Long and Spit out the bone
Spit out the bone could have sat comfortably on Justice and not sounded out of place
In general, a very amazing album.
And there are actually more of "geeky" stuff regarding the previous songs. Like, how Inamorata is basically My Friend Of Misery 2 (even referencing a line from it, "misery loves company"), or title reference to Broken Beat & Scarred in Room of Mirrors. I hope you will have fun breaking down more of these songs
What's so funny is the first thing I thought of when I heard "misery loves company" was the Anthrax song of the same name lololol
During the verses of Sleepwalk I couldn't help but sing "What don't kill ya make ya more strong", lol.
Ref ref
For people that think Metallica is good these days, please check out these songs and realize thrash is much more nowadays.
Here's a list with modern thrash songs:
Havok - Root of Evil
HeXeN - Knee Deep in the Dead
Warbringer - Remain Violent
Power Trip - Executioner's Tax
Traitor - 66 Exeter Street
Blackened Thrash:
Lucifuge - Black Battalions
High Command - Fortified by Bloodshed
Ketzer - Warlust
Inculter - Impending Doom
Witchtrap - Powerof the Maul
Blackened Tech Thrash:
Cryptosis - Transcendence
Vektor - Pteropticon
Revocation - The Grip Tightens
Paranorm - Critical Mass
@@RAAZR- one thing doesnt deny the other. all those bands are great and Metallica can still be good at the same time lol
7:46 Maybe Robert still feels underutilized, but can we talk about how this guy has writing credits on every release ever since he joined?
I love Robert, I honestly credit him for helping save Metallica after their lowest point in their career during the St. Anger era (I loved St. Anger btw). I think Rob helping encourage them to return to their roots from Death Magnetic forward, I remember hearing that he's responsible for Metallica playing songs live that they haven't played in years like "Call Of Cthulu". Rob is just a down to earth dude, such a loveable personality and he's a freaking beast on the bass! My love for Metallica will never die!
I feel like a lot of the recent appearances and stuff seem to reflect James and Rob becoming closer and more friendly. I feel like he’s really found his place in the band and they’re letting him run with it.
Obviously it’s been a couple of days but I’d be interested to see what we would get out of a future album as they mesh more and more over the years, and James and Lars let the other guys bring more ideas to the table.
@@pollorojo hopefully after 20 years they finally are more friendly. Rob unfortunately always just seems in the background and doesn’t say a lot during their rehearsals or interviews
I think just like Load and Reload if you forget that it's a Metallica album and just a random metal album, it's perfectly fine. It doesn't need to replicate Puppets or Justice to be an amazing album. So even though it was a bit different I liked it.
omg EmperorTigerstar thanks for making map videos I find them very useful
Damn, you listen to Metallica? You're a cool guy
Cool to see you here bro
I like load and reload.
Load is a fucking masterpiece of cotemporary rock music.
When I read a comment about "Metallica going sludge" under Inamorata, I became hyped in a milisecond. I heard the main riff, man, I legit teared up. Can't explain why, but this scooped guitar tones playing harmonies, are just giving a really warm hug for my brain, ears, and my entire body. I swear man, I really didn't expect these feelings to appear on the album
The chorus is also amazing you don't get bored when you listen to it a few times...vocal melody fits perfectly on the rhythm and very unique
The guitar harmonies on that one are great
man I had that too! Maybe by chance that was also the perfect moment when I listened to that. Coming back tired, satisfied and a bit melanchonic after a gig of myself under a light rain... that's why we love them!
@Iceman Give him credit for putting himself out there, man. He could have said something tough, but chose to be honest instead. I respect that.
@Iceman Is that a problem?
5/5 riff/lick for me is that harmonised groove at the midpoint/end of ‘You must burn’, it’s so badass. Such an earworm.
That's my favorite from the Album
It's so good
That riff and that ending riff in Inamorata...the "Misery.....ooh my Misery..." part. It's so damn good. Same with the main riff from Shadows Follow.
All 3 5/5 easily. 🤘
And that harmony from room of mirrors Is just 10/10
Inamorata also has some Led Zeppelin's No Quarter in it. I love the Orion/My Friend of Misery-esque harmonies.
The last solo on Inamorata is really good, it's the best solo Kirk has done in recent times.
The Room of mirrors solo is a decent one too, it's my favourite from the album
It's good because it feels like he actually played on the song hearing what's actually being played by the rest of the band and adapting. The rest of the album sounds like they threw some generic licks at random and went with it.
Gotta disagree there in somethin, the solos on The Monster and the maiden are Kirk´s best solos in recent times
That’s James soloing
@@thebatman1482 that’s my only complaint about the album. If Kirk’s solos actually played along with the riffs instead of trying to be its own thing, the songs would be so much more memorable to me. I think if I tried to listen to the isolated solos and try to connect them to the right song, I’d give up (Except for Inamorata)
If Darkness Had a Son sounds pretty amazing live - the version that they played on Jimmy Kimmel Live show really kicks ass as they cut off some fluff and made it shorter and it also has the punch the studio version lacks.
ruclips.net/video/TOm8BUTvPQA/видео.html
Yeah, too bad the crowd was just standing around lol
@@hobiegunn Hard to mosh on those stairs, though. XD
They also had to apparently replay the song 3-4 times due to technical problems which might be why
@@weaponizedwii Well, the result was awesome - even something bad can be good for something, and in this case it made the song better. :)
This album is the missing link between The Black Album and Load. I love those albums, and I like this one. Maybe it's a couple songs too long. Inamorata is absolutely incredible though.
Yes, Batman. But i think ReLoad is better than Load.
And yeah, album is way too long too lol.
@@MegaAndyGG I completely disagree with Reload being better than Load. Reload has some of the worst Metallica songs of all time in my opinion, Carpe Diem Baby, Bad Seed, Better Than You, Prince Charming and The Memory Remains (one of their worst singles in my opinion). But I agree the new album is too long, most songs should be 30 seconds shorter or a couple songs could be left off.
The last tune is a banger. Reminds me of My friend of misery and Bleeding me
Maybe unpopular, but Shadows Follow is probably my favorite song are my favorite song on the album and its not even close! One of my all time favorites now.
Kirk did great job in Inamorata and 72 seasons!
If I had to guess Trujillo's riff for SS I'd guess the pre-chorus ("Don't ever speak my name") as it's groovy and feels like something he could come up with jamming on the bass. Just my opinion though.
The yellow album sounds good, imma start naming them albums by colors
The red album
The Blue album (Green for French lucky guys back in 84´)
The... master red album
The grey album
Metallica
The orange semen and blood album
The orange Pee and blood album
The not good red album
The grey magnetic album
The white album with a rainbow inside
The album is hit and miss, but the hits make it worth it. Inamorata is genuinely their best song in decades.
Yeah. And of course it's waaaaaay toooooooo loooooooooooong.
But many great songs too!!
I didnt really get that with Inamorata. I suppose I'll have to listen to it a little more. It's good, but it didnt hit the "wow" for me.
@@Frontier327 It got me at first listen, feel/melody is so different and dark, just takes me away... Hard to explain.
Which one is miss ?
@@ilyeshmusic it's a grower. 3 songs I thought were meh I now think are amazing. Not a single bad song on the album imo. They haven't done that since Justice/Black albums!
Shadows Follow, Sleepwalk my life away, inamorata and chasing light were fantastic surprises to me
Surprised I haven't heard anyone mention the little studio talk between Het and the producers left in at the very end of Inamorata
I honestly love this album. Mix is excellent. Robert's bass guitar is more heard than on the previous 2 albums. Some solos are amazing
I get the feeling Chasing Light was written as a metaphorical blessing from proverbial father (Metallica) to his child/children (Us, the fans whom they raised with their music). It was like they were saying to lean on them in tough times. I know it’s all subjective but that’s what I felt.
Bad interpretation
72 Seasons surprised me! The album is my favorite since the Black Album 🤘
I think I second this. Doesn't mean it comes anywhere close to TBA, but it's definitely harder, more complex, less commercial than RE/LOAD. Not much in the 2000s is worth mentioning, IMO, but I've always thought meh Metallica is a million times better than no Metallica.
I already like it better then The Black Album. I have listened to this new album few times now
Am I the only one that would love to hear a remastered version of kill em all with the actual sound? In 72 seasons and Hardwired guitars are so sick and sharp💥
I had the exact same thoughts concerning Kill ‘Em All. It’s fun to notice people telling the same things independently :>
I think they should do that with a lot of their old songs. Re-record them with modern production and vocal sound.
@@maxzubic That would be awesome!
Kind of like what testament did with their first strike still deadly album. 🔥🤘
@@maxzubic NO
It's so cool to finally see you talk about a new Metallica album after all the years I've been subscribed! If this is the last one, boy what a way to go out! I loved how much it felt like a 3rd Load album! Especially the Alice In Chains vocals in YMB! And the slap bass intro in SMLA reminded me of Cure (Also, finally a bass (and drum) intro after all these years!) I also found the lyrical and melodic homages to Broken, Beat and Scarred and Misery cool too. For some reason Room of Mirrors reminds me of a mixture between a camp musical song and an RHCP song, lol. All the best frrriend. 🤘
Don't remember which song it was, but in cinema when the members started praising a Kirk solo, half the audience burst out laughing. Turned out it actually was one of the better solos of the album
Probably You Must Burn! That was the one solo that stuck out to me when watching it in the theater last night.
People is beating on Kirk too much tbh
There were no good solos on the album.
Ahh yes, the specialist, the musicians geniuses, and the worst - people who ate something of music and can play a guitar - snobs. Kirks solos are... sometimes decents, sometimes good. Like c'mon, if you really like it, fuck'em, just be happy that the legend and the best metal band on the world still playing with almost the same guys for 40 years. They late 50 and almost 60 and they still trashing. Fuck haters and snobs, headbang and enjoy! Do not take your happines to some douchebags.
@@antoniocenteno1483 nah man. He should do MUUUUUCH better. He was great back in the day. Now it's just meh ~~ same old shit over and over. All good though
I still think that a remastered st anger with a normal sound and mix and less “cried out” would be just shy of the first 4 albums and at least on par with Black Album. Most songs are really cool if you force yourself thinking how they could sound if produced and sang properly.
I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't super stoked about the singles, but the rest of the tracks were pretty good.
Inamorata was like a response to My Friend of Misery. I truly enjoyed it
Its so weird how the singles are the worst songs, the album in general is brilliant
Funny. :D I'm exactly of the opposite opinion. Oh well. :D
actually i think lux æterna is great
I wouldn’t say that exactly, 72 Seasons was a pretty good song I think, sure like screaming suicide falls a bit on the wayward side, but I wouldn’t say the singles are the worst
@@Jayteaseepiirturi me too. In general I hate the album but the singles are the ones I prefer
Although non our my favourite, I like all the singles.
I appreciate the thorough review. Your passion comes through. All the best
Kirk's ending solo in Inamorata is brutal. The emotion it carries it magnificent...
Inamorata and Too far gone were really good songs in my opinion and i was quite surprised at how good the album actually turned out
Same. Their best 21st century work IMHO.
I was actually going to comment in your previous videos to say you were jumping the gun with your assetment of the new material. I actually really like now Screaming..great groove, If Darkness etc. and yeah after hearing the whole thing is like wow! so good! I really like Shadows Follow, so many interesting riffs all over the album, such great energy. Very happy listening to this album.
Happy for you, Andriy.
in my book inamorata is on par with heavy hitters like outlaw torn, bleeding me & fixxxer... i felt in love with this song
At 5:20 In "Inamorata" is just perfection. Its beautiful
I really like it! Gonna need more listens but, so far, my favorite songs come from the second half - “If Darkness Had a Son”, “Too Far Gone?”, and “Inamorata”
Excellent album, really enjoying . Good review
I actually like the sound on 72 better than Hardwired, for one big reason: THE BASS! it's so much clearer, fatter here.
I loved Inamorata so much, man. yeah, it's Sabbath-y, but it's also "My Friend Of Misery"-y at points... which is one of my absolute favourite Metallica songs.
Shadows Follow has one of the most disgusting and evil riffs I’ve ever heard on a Metallica record. The record isn’t their absolute best work, but they did a great job
I haven’t been able to get the solo/melody section from You Must Burn! out of my head since I first heard that song in theatres 🔥
Did I just became part of your channel's lore? Cool, I guess 😅 Been following you on my main yt account for quite some time (from the time of old covers). Not sure why I commented using this alt account. Feels weird being acknowledged this way. Also, I listened with my brother MoP album today and his mind was completely blown away. Can't wait to show him more. I suppose is just my projection on discovering a band/genre. After all, my first song I heard from Metallica (that I actually played myself, and not from random listening and not fully paying attention) was Purify (what can I say, it went uphill from there!). Sorry if it's too long or foolish, just wanted to say more on the previous comment 🤘
Im not much of a fan of most of the singles but damn Inamorata is fucking incredible, its Outlaw Torn mixed with My friend of misery but with a REALLY nice country influence, i love it.
James’s vocals were so good on this album. I love what it's evolved into.
There's a Broken, Beaten, Scarred reference in Room of Mirrors. And the double Yeah, Yeah at the end of Too Far Gone? (although it's not as bombastic as his previous Yeah, Yeahs back in the day, but it's still a nice call back). If Darkness Had a Son says Unforgiven (only once though). I just love the little easter eggs they put in these songs.
One thing I've noticed about Metallica on the last two records is they have a serious problem moving from the tonic and building a chord progression. Too Far Gone is actually the only example on the new record where the chorus has a discernible progression of chords. It's quite hard to create catchy or impactful vocal melodies when your chords are static. If you go back and listen to basically any other era of the band, they never struggled writing a chord progression, but something has gone a bit strange in this era. Still, I think this album is much better than Hardwired. The second half of this record is really exciting stuff, and some of James' vocal parts were really moving actually. His voice is definitely getting stronger with age, and that's impressive.
All in, I'm pretty happy with this record.
My favorite riff is the one before the solo on Crown of Barbed Wire. Frickin heavy man.
4:56 I personally would say the first Metallica song to start with vocals was in Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) when James says "bass solo take one"
Good review Andriy, good job.
The riff in Chasing Light is one of the best riffs on 72 Seasons imo, one of the best riffs from Metallica dare i say.
Rob wrote the verse riffs in screaming suicide. I read an interview where he said he wanted to write a climbing riff that MetallicA never wrote before but the climbing verse riff in screaming suicide has been written before in House that jack built.
Man... your experience matches my perfectly. I freaking love this album, best Metallica album since The Black Album, I'm super impressed with it, god damn.
You're over exaggerating. But it's your opinion.
@Iceman yeah! Death Magnetic leftovers on Beyond Magnetic are much better than this shit.
@@DJNITON lol that's hogwash
In overall I'm happy most about how this album trolled me with the singles and turned out to be one of my favorites a really great album for me.
I was genuinely thinking I'd have to disagree with you for once when I saw your video last night while you were walking and listening to the album. It made me sad, being a big Andriy fan!
But this was a great, and accurate of a review and I'm glad we have a very similar view of this album! So happy for this release, can't wait to listen to is another 200 times over the next week!
So far my favorite song from the ones not released as singles is Shadows Follow. My favorite riff is the main one from Chasing Light. But the album is definitely growing on me as a whole. I'm sure I'll discover new stuff along the way.
I don't understand why no one is talking about Crown of barbed wire, for me it's the best song on the record
Great song 🤘
I feel like this is a sign of a really good album. Personally, that's the song I'm struggling with most but tons of people love it.
@@jeffreydhill that’s really interesting from you to say that because when I listened to it in the first time I liked it instantly
well they didn't suck with choosing lux aeterna as a single at least :) this upbeat stuff made me beat my record on my exercise bike 😂
FULL SPEED OR NOTHIN'
I love the whole album. Not a bad word to say about it.
Inamorata, Crown of Barbed Wire, Room of Mirrors and Sleepwalk my Life away are amazing. This album is really growing on me
You Must Burn has an amazing presolo and aftersolo riff with bass slides backing it up. Pure enjoyment.
My personal favorites were Shadows Follow, Lux Aeterna, Room of Mirrors and Inamoranta
I loved his solos in inamorata
I’m cool with the “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” influence on Inamorata. Fade to Black’s bridge is much much closer to “A National Acrobat”, and that’s fine. Love the channel! 🤘
Great job making so many observations so quickly. Is there a video where Kirk played that Barbed wire riff on backstage?
Huh, Inamorata reminded me of A National Acrobat much more than Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
Im starting to love the album.
At first I was upset about some aspects of the album, but after some more listening and rumination im starting to really like it. Room of mirrors and Too far gone? are classics already. I learned this album sounds better on speakers, try it out if you have some good speakers. Best record since black album and I think I mean it. By the way Too far gone is proper black album. James vocals on this album are great, like actually great, I think his efforts to sober up have restored some of his energy.
Okay, it's pretty late here and i'm pretty tired and i have to revise some thing for school
I Just saw the first 3 minute and i will finish tomorrow, but this gonna be interesting i Guess
Btw the album imo Is awesome and inamorata Just gives goosebump.
Keep to rock on frrriend
The bridge riff to You Must Burn is my favorite on the album. That and the main riff of Shadows Follow and the chorus of Chasing Light
Only negatives for me on the entire album are:
Kirk has some great solos, some songs needed more thought on the solo
Sleepwalk my Life Away needs to lean on the bass intro more and get a new main riff
Chasing Light needs to lose the 30 seconds after the vocal intro, straight into the main riff which kicks ass
If Darkness had a son was performed better on Jimmy Kimmel and should have been the version, 5 minutes is great for it
I was much more hyped for you review than for the actual album. Veeery glad the album turned out the be much better than what the singles were promising.... BTW, Kirk wrote the main riff to 72 seasons! This was brought up before the song was played in the cinema yesterday, super cool
Shadows Follow and Inamorata elevated the status of this record......by a lot
Shadows follow is definitely my favourite riff too. Very groovy.
Great album! Hard to rank it among the other albums so quickly but I'd put it around the middle somewhere above KEA, DM, Reload, and Anger.
Screaming Suicide, Inamorata, and Chasing Light are my favorite. Screaming my absolute favorite, favorite Metallica track since Black album.
...all nightmare long? That was just your life?
It's the first album since their 2000s regenissis that sounds like 80s Metallica
Edit: also I think Inamorata might have a James guitar solo
Edit edit: I'm finding it better with every listen
I fell HARD for You Must Burn and Crown of Barbed Wire man-- overall I'm hella happy to be alive at the time this album was released ❤
72 Seasons falls flat for me. I've never heard Metallica sound so generic and write such bland tunes. Not sure what others are hearing tbh....but I'm glad for whoever likes it.
On hardwired they released the good songs as singles... on 72 seasons, the hard, heavy & groovy songs were just waiting to jump and prowl on Metallica fans! Such a good album! On my 5th listen now... absorbing it slowly...
I hope they do another series of videos for each song like they did for Mission Metallica and making of Hardwired
Andriy should do a vid ranking the metallica logo off each album. It’d be cool.
Hardwired had a balled “Halo on Fire”, one of my favs from that album
I see your point, ballad-ish
Finally a 72 Seasons review I agree with 😎. Sure, it's not at the level of their 80s album, but it's still a great album with great variety and, for me personally, it's definitely better than Hardwired and even Death Magnetic.
I've read several comments saying that this album is like a mix of Hardwired and the Lord albums and I'm like "how!?". This album, like you say, it's definitely faster overall than Hardwired, and even the slower tracks are not that bad.
Something else is that, while the album does have a pretty similar sound to Hardwired, I did feel an evolution. In Moth into The Flame we saw James singing in a more melodic style that sounded quite different to previous albums, and here he expands a lot on that kind of more melodic vocal lines, which I really liked.
Yeah. This album is much better than Hardwired. It's better in every way.
If I remember correctly Robert contributed to the bridge riff in The Day That Never Comes, I believe the part after the vocals.
I think 'Inamorata' is revisiting 'My friend of misery' due to the unique sound, the whole idea of the song, a big role given to bass
I loved Lux Æterna and 72 Seasons upon first hearing, Screaming Suicide took a few but I now love it, to the point I learned it on guitar.
Upon hearing the full album, If Darkness Had a Son became much better to me. And found bangers in Shadows Follow, Too Far Gone? and Inamorata.
The rest is pretty ok, “You Must Burn” stands a little more.
If I had to give it a mark, 4 out of 5. May seem too much but man, some artists are truly making their worst albums in this time period (Green Day, RHCP and Pearl Jam come to mind)
Absolutely same man the screaming suicide inverted fifths main riff is actually kinda tricky to play but when you get it becomes very fun to play
Crown of Barbed Wire also kicks ass. That chorus riff is so Sabbath influenced 🤘
Green Day saddens me as I am a loyal die-hard fan of them, I know every Green Day song u could ever care to hear on guitar and I've seen them live twice. I heavily supported the Trilogy and Rev Rad was awesome(Forever Now is my favorite GD song ever) But since then everything they've put out I can't support it, I love them with all my heart and always will, but they really need to release better stuff🤞🏻
The fact that Metallica can still release songs that I'll have on my playlists and not skip is impressive. Like I enjoy songs from all of their albums and honestly I was a bit worried that I wouldn't like any of the songs from the new album but I like all of them! Sleepwalk My Life Away is the only one I might skip a lot but I love the bass intro in that song
RHCP still makes good music
"Chasing Light" has the best riff Metallica has written in decades.
Kirk wrote the fast riff on 72 seasons, which I’m assuming is his writing credit. He says it in the global premiere (I saw it in the cinemas on the 13th), but idk if that specific interview is out yet
That was my thought as well as this crossover between kill 'em all and load/reload. I thought Inamorata would be instrumental but maybe due to Kirk's performance and James vocal performance maybe it is for the better
This is why you don’t judge an album before it’s released
Dear Andriy, I love your channel so much. I bought the CD yesterday but only got through about 1/3 of the album.
Can I make another suggestion for “geeky” analysis? Metallica have been doing more “canonical” references over the past 20 years: it started with Unforgiven II on Load, quoting “Damage Inc” in “St. Anger”, and now “full speed or nothing” from “Motorbreath” on “Lux AEterna”. How many references to previous works do they do on this album, and what does this tell us?
Thanks for your awesome content - BIM \m/
Dude, you perfectly described the way I feel about this album. Ha. I was so discouraged by the solo in IDHAS, I was just ready to throw in the towel on my favorite band. They were certainly bad at picking the singles. Lol. BUT, as a whole, the 4 singles were pretty strong. So I held out hope.
Then yesterday happened. I'm blown away. I hear a rejuvenated band that sounds fresh while harkening back to their roots. The music, the lyrics, it's fucking beautiful. THANK YOU METALLICA. I'm one happy fan today.
And Death Magnetic still the best album after the first five…
true if u have good remixes
72 seasons is brilliant. I did not agree with your perceptions of the other singles. I have loved every single song. Metallica are brilliant!!! Best Band ever.
I Agree with you 💯 🤘all the Musically retarded Haters can go cry in their corners.
Get up off your knees please
Room of mirrors is awesome has to be my favorite song yet & even the video is epic and that wee medley lick is just kool as F**K 🤘🏻🤘🏻
On first listen, I feel like there are a lot of cool riffs and ideas on the album that just didn't really go anywhere. I love the main riffs from 72 Seasons and Sleepwalk My Life Away, but when each and every song kicks into the first verse, they all sound very similar. Room of Mirrors is my favorite of the album; it's fast, the harmonies are nice, and James doesn't sound like he's straining his voice too much.
I love Metallica because they dont sing about Wizards, Vikings, Dragons and whatever other bullshit 90% of Metal bands that the sing about. James put his entire soul into this album. 8/10 imo
Got that right my friend 🤘
You have been listening to too much Orc Metal
@Iceman because writing a good text plus a good music is more difficult than writing a good music with a “stupid” text. I mean, I love Dragonforce for example but the words… come on.
doubt even 20% of metal artists write about that stuff frequently
Fucking KILLER record!
