I even had to check because I was like "isn't that a pure normal one?" which it is. It also has worse spdef than def, which is additionally tragic.

My idea for a run is a "Cycling Run" where you'd have to always delete the oldest move for the newest move learned

For context, pikasprey arguably created the solo run format, Jrose codified the rules and helped popularize the format along with MDB, who is more of a general lets player and story teller. Scott’s Thoughts is probably the biggest channel of the second generation, people inspired by MDB and Jrose, and has developed a lot of technology to make solo running better- graphical design overlays, routing software, even a new emulator with snowy. There are several smaller channels who are probably better runners, like Gym Leader Matt, Ike the Killer etc, but Scott’s definitely done the most for community development and sheer quality of content.

I am a little sad that this game does not have a fossil that is taken on the way. Because it means that for this video, it makes it hard to ask you to take the fossil opposite the one you say you took. Just to see who notices.
Yes, I know he took the Dome fossil on a fossils only run when he started with Omanyte. But that is not what I mean. I mean I want to hear "I took the Root fossil" while seeing the Claw fossil being taken. Or hearing "I took the Helix fossil" while seeing the Dome fossil being taken.
And to those who say that this has happened before - when? Show me! I've looked and looked and have not seen it.

Mini Pro Tip: up until only recently, Ghost & Fighting has perfect coverage 😊 So if you can ever have Shadow Ball + Focus Blast (or Shadow Claw and Brick Break) on a playthrough of an older game definitely do it. (Hisuian Zoroark is immune to both). If you can't have Ghost, Dark works well since they are super effective against the same types (a couple of Fighting types will resist this alternative combo such as Toxicroak). Very fun fun 😊
Challenge Pokemon Emerald, with only Lunatone and Solrock, plus you can have max 10 levels higher.
Very good video, I like Mr. Mime in the anime, even if a little less in game, I prefer Gardevoir and Butterfree.

Also, MDBAMA - Sorry if you've answered this before, but why don't you do any challenge runs for anything gen 6 and later? I'd love to see challenges in any of the 3D Pokemon games and even less main line ones like Legends Arceus from you!
Mr. Mime learns Thunderbolt via TM, it would make this run significantly easier for you. As far as not being able to reuse TMs, use Focus Miss(I mean Focus Blast lol) as your move that you switch others out with. If I'm not mistaken you can buy multiple at the Veilstone Department store. Also, I know you've heard it nonstop since this vid came out buuuuuut bro purugly is normal lol. Can't wait to watch the Nidoran run!

I genuinely think the best strat for that Coronet double battle is to start by targetting Munchlax and taking it out so your rival actually contributes to the fight.
My first time in the Distortion World was in the Sinnoh story of PokeMMO. I never played Platinum as a a kid.
I hated it and just wanted to be done with the puzzle.

You should do a gen 4 run with just geodude. I think that would be pretty hard.

I've found that the Rival only becomes a problem if you are weak to Close Combat, since so much of his team uses it, especially if he has Infernape.

Kind of funny you and Scott's Thoughts put out a solo Mr. Mime challenge on the same day - small world among the pokemon fandoms I guess
Because you asked on the way to the Elite 4, the only type combination that doesn't take at least Neutral damage from the combination of Fighting and Ghost would be a Normal/Ghost type, and the only ones in the series are Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark, so you'll never run into that during a challenge run.
I have been here since the OG ratata video dropped, Manbar really started all this.

I really dont understand why you didn't replace Return midway through, you were able to get the coin case way earlier.
A Thunderbolt with the higher special stat surely would be more useful in most situations than a normal move that you can't use properly with your stats.
Speaking of reading moves (23:50), although not exactly a 1:1 comparison, I'm doing a Black 2 Slakoth (evolution) run and there's so many opponent's that use your ability to their advantage by using dig so you just can't hit them. Thank goodness Slaking is so tanky and has Slack Off.
Also I'd love do see you do a Slakoth/Norman run at some point.
In this video you often say: that you didnt expect to do big dmg, seems you forgot, that this time you got a pokemon with good special attack, because you normally run with weaker pokemon xD
If you haven't done it yet, Pokemon Red with one Lickitung could be an interesting run. It's one you almost never get to use since I'm pretty sure it's a trade Pokemon.

Shadow Ball is a ghost type move, not dark. Super effective against dark and ghost. Covers two weaknesses to psychic types. It’s one of my must have moves on any psychic type Pokémon.

I have an idea for a fun challenge, One that means you could even use Drowzee. Can you beat Pokemon Black (Or any game from gen's 5 ,6 or 7) with only the move Assist? Purrloin learns Assist at level 6 so it'd be the starter, Then if you get a male Purrloin you can breed it with other's to get more Pokemon. I think this would be a great wacky challenge since the more Pokemon on your team the more random the move is.
For any that don't know Assist uses a random move known by any of the user's party Pokémon, With some exceptions. So even Pokemon that can't use Assist would still be useful if they have good moves that Assist can use. Drowzee is in the Human-Like Egg Group so If you want one with Assist you'd need a Spinda since they're in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so can breed with Purrloin and Drowzee. You could also use a Chimchar as a starter if you give it Assist as an Egg Move, They're also in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so a male one can breed the move into any Pokemon with Assist.
I enjoy your run as always! They are always enjoyable. Btw purugly isnt dark type, it is pure normal.

I was absolutely SCREAMING at the screen when you REFUSED to use Focus Blast on Lucario in the Cynthia fight 😭😭
I knew you wouldn't reach close the Level 100 with this run. M.Mime is afterall a solo pokémon initially. So I'm not surprise even if it supposed to be used as a support kind. And when you where at the Elite 4 league I was thinking wouldn't need much than 10 more levels at that moment. Seems I was close 12 levels to ending the challenge. And By the way 16:55 Nice.
Pokémon Challenge suggestion: You are free to go with the game of your choice, but the challenges is using only middle evolution stage pokémon. (For Exemple: If you pick Bulbasaur as your starter, you can only battle with Ivysaur.) You are not allowed to use pokémon who's has no evolution or only 1, it must be a pokémon with a 2 stage linear Evolution. So pokémon like Eevee or Tyrogue are not allowed, but pokémon like Oddish, Poliwag or Ralts are allowed.

Can't believe you missed the TMs for both Shock Wave (on rt 215 right before Veilstone/the Fighting Gym) and Thunderbolt (surf around back the Valley Windworks)! Would have made so many battles so much easier. You gotta do your research MDB; between these and Purugly you cost yourself so much time.

I think a cool type of run would be using only damage reflecting moves (counter, mirror coat, etc.)
I think you probably could have one shot Lucario quicker - it does take super-effective damage from Focus Blast!

Pokemon Crystal with only Ice Punch
You have to start with Totodile and gameshark in TM33 for Ice Punch and buy it at the PokeMart in Cherrygrove City. No items in battle. You may use any Pokemon that can learn Ice Punch.
Focus Energy, my favourite Gen 4 TM XD
