the level of shame every gym leader, the elite four, and Cynthia must feel after being beaten by a dude that grabbed wild pokemon and didn't even bother to train them...
I just finished Pokémon moon, and all the characters go on and on about the bond between a Pokémon and it’s trainer. It comes up *so often*. This just proves how it’s bullcrap, and I love it. ;)
Fun fact about the Crasher Wake fight is that if you can find a Croagunk nearby and it has Dry Skin, you can use Swagger on his Gyarados and Floatzel and they tend to not know what to do and just use water moves. That’s how I beat Wake the first time I played Platinum!
Where were you 2 weeks ago when i was getting cooked by him in Diamond and Platinum 😭 This is actually a good strategy though since you’d only have to worry about Quagsire and that is a Carnivine/Roselia away from being taken care of

This dude is literally one of very few people that I can watch while doing schoolwork. I don’t even have to look at the screen to know his pain when he loses a battle. Him and EnterTheUnknown are great for watching when you are busy and still want to watch a Pokémon video.
You're killing it with both the videos and streams!! This was such a fun run to watch - I really liked the creativity needed to take on some of the battles and how a lot of the rarer 5% and 1% spawns actually proved to be very useful for the run!
Roserade isnt actually a bad mon. But its only above average speed means it doesnt often go first and since its grass type it has a ton of weaknesses. So it gets blown away often. Still rocked one on my team tho

I like these no EXP challenges because they're more in line with the whole "gotta catch em' all" theme. Okay, i admit, i ACTUALLY like them because you have a reason to use proper strategy.
16:04 You're underestimating Tangela. That thing can take an ice fang and use stun spore in return without an issue. I didn't even catch a single Pikachu when I played Platinum without exp
The crasher wake section reminded me of my Platinum Randomizer where I used a Choice Specs Raichu that I got on the second route at around level 3, good times.
I've been playing multiple Pokemon games with no experience and they are still pretty easy. I restrain myself from using a legendary because at that point it isn't even a challenge.

I don't know why but I'm very intrigued on the making off of your videos. Could you consider making a video to show us how you prepare and edit your vids, like Mah-Dry-Bread did a while ago?
You should put a couple of quick audio clips from your stream in your next video (if it involves the stream recording), the people need to know how different you sound 👌😎
I'm watching this after having watched the streams while I'm waiting for the next nuzlocke stream to begin. The pinnacle of Johntent has been reached. Also, your no exp playthrough has motivated me to do the same, except harder (same rules, but no legendaries and set battle style). kiiinda hard ngl.
the most minor annoyance I have when it comes to speed/challenge runs is that the community uses "range" rather than "roll". Like, "it's a range whether or not (Pokemon) gets OHKO'd by (move)" vs. "it's a roll whether or not (Pokemon) gets OHKO'd by (move)" -- "roll" and randomness go hand in hand
A challenge you could do is beating Pokemon without learning new moves. Basically you're only allowed to use the 4 moves (or first 4 moves you get when leveling up, like Tepig getting Ember is legal but not Defense Curl, and Abra learning the first 3 moves it gets when it evolves is good but nothing after that) that's on a Pokemon when you obtain it
I just found your twitch channel a couple of weeks ago and main channel Johnstone is a whole different guy now 😭😭😭 in all seriousness I really enjoy your twitch johntent, so glad I found you. And no idea why I'm watching this video I literally just finished the last stream vod lmao
Love these no exp attempts. I’m a big fan of 360Chrism, and he did these a few years ago, everyone should check out his runs. He has beat gens 1-5 I think.
I actually did this run back in May of last year and I'm quite surprised at how different some of our solutions were to each gym. The one that surprised me the most was Wake. For Wake, I used Tangela from Pastoria Marsh to help with Floatzel, since Ice Fang didn't OHKO through it's high Def, and it had Stun Spore, so I didn't have to rely on Static. The Gyarados was a much bigger issue for me since I didn't do the Quick Claw/Thunder strat with Raichu. Instead I used Stun Spore Tangela to weaken it and then bullied the Gyarados with Water Absorb Quagsire from the Great Marsh and Intimidate Staravia, which wasn't always successful depending on what turns it was paralyzed for. I also spent a lot of time grinding money off the 2 Rich trainers next to the Mansion right before the E4 in order to give Azelf 10 Calcium/Carbos, just to have an easier time with that whole thing because I was quite afraid of the E4.
I wonder what caused the first trainer at 2:53 and the Torterra at 33:40 to actually grant you EXP? Some glitch with the 0-EXP hack that you were using or something? (12:26) At -6 Accuracy (not -6 Evasion), move accuracy becomes 1/3 of its usual. So, Hypnosis had a 20% chance of hitting (1/5), then the other two moves were 1/3 each. Also, Shadow Claw's crit rate is 1/8. So, the odds of all of Haunter's moves landing the way they did there were 1/5 x 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/8 = 1/360.
Hi jon! Please consider putting this challenge to rest with completing the Elite 4 round 2 as well in Platinum. I dont know if it would be much different, but it would be interesting as Cynthia's team gets another like 10 levels
This is kinda like a Pokémon Ranger playthrough of the main series game. 'Catch' wild Pokémon and use them temporarily, before releasing them and finding new ones rather than training.

It couldnt be zero experience, obvioudly, but no level ups.
