One thing I find remarkable about these is how they remember such complex dialogs to be able to film them without cuts. A classic example is their Ponting Punting sketch.
I was raised on The Two Ronnies - In 1971 it was family viewing for me. Although I would sometimes not 'get the joke' as I was only 11 or 12 - I'd just laugh at my Mum and Dad laughing. They were both excellent comedians and masters of innuendo. Both sadly missed.
Same for me. Although I too struggled with jokes as a child, especially things like Yes Minister and Porridge, somehow I KNEW what I was watching was genius.
You’re so right, comedic geniuses. I loved watching them growing up. But there’s another classic sketch for you to check out....it’s the drinks order. I’m sure you’ll find it pretty easy. Love your vids, can’t wait for the next. X
If you can, I suggest you watch the Morecambe and Wise sketch with Andre Previn. It's a classic. I say 'if you can', because I've just tried to view it and it seems to be blocked by the BBC. But if you can managed to find it, it's well worth a watch x
Perfect analysis Vanessa, as always a cut above the rest. Wonderful to watch you and hear your comments - has to be one of the best reaction video channels on RUclips. Thank you!
i love your videos Vanessa. I think this a really hard sketch to follow for a non native, referencing brands of bread etc. I am sure for many, this did not make sense . anyway, keep up the videos. you are such a pleasure to watch
One of their cleverest sketches. There being more restrictions on what you could say led to people being more clever with innuendo to get around the censors.
@@ghughesarch I think some words from Polari passed into more general use. I remember hearing a clip of Julian and Sandy a few years ago and I could tell it was pretty filthy, but 99% of listeners at the time would have thought it was purely innuendo.
@@trickygoose2 I didn't say he invented it - that was my point, really. But - "Dish" may be a good looking man, but it is also a good-looking arse. There's a fair bit of Polari in 'normal' English slang.
Great stuff, they are legends with good reason. .....and speaking of legends please, please can you do a Sean Lock review as he passed away this week from cancer at only 58. Plenty 'best of' now appearing on you tube A modern legend! RiP Sean ♥️
The Mastermind sketch was classic. This was an inocent time in more ways than one. There are some very good modern comedies and if you have not seen "The Thin Blue Line and Porridge they are well worth a look.
Many thanks for a blast from the past Vanessa. Some of your audience will know but for others, Ronnie B used the pseudonym of Gerald Wiley when writing sketches for the BBC, he wanted the production team at the time to accept them on merit rather than because of who he was. When the team sat down to choose which sketches to use he would even criticised ‘his own writing’ - none of the team knew it was his work and chose it on merit alone - such a self-effacing man and such a genius. RIP Ronnie B (the Godfather of British comedy)
Yes, you are correct, they don't make comedies like this anymore. Very funny without the need for cursing and trying to shock the audience. Those comedians are also funny, but The Two Ronnie's and Morecambe and Wise are for a family to sit and watch without being uncomfortable.
I agree with you when you said their comedy was timeless but I don't know if this comedy sketch would be written today as your video made me ask myself "When was the last time I saw anybody using a public phone?" Answer" I can't remember as EVERYBODY used mobile phones( I think you call them cell phones in the states) nowadays.
A lot of this is done with very English wordplay and I’m not sure how it translates to an American audience. But they are the cleverest funniest masters of wordplay. If you like them, I recommend Name Droppers and Round of Drinks
Hi just two things I wanted to say.... Firstly you are very beautiful and lovely 😍❤ and secondly you should see 'Allo 'Allo!!!! A true British jem from the 80s 😅🤣😂🥰😍😘👏🙌👍
Loving your videos and your great sense of humour. I have a suggestion for you. Have you seen Catherine Tate doing Nan ? She is very funny although a little vulgar. Great job on the videos! I look forward to seeing more.
Hi Nice lady VAN have Yu seen one of our very best sit-down comedians DAVE ALLEN.He's top notch. This is not just a personal opinion, but thought so by one & all. Please try D.A. on religion. There are 2 options to choose from, both hilarious. If u watch one you'll want to see the other. All the best
If you like The Two Ronnie's, you should enjoy Dr.Death: ruclips.net/video/PZxax-LKpW8/видео.html and Name Droppers: ruclips.net/video/4QW-c9yk9EI/видео.html

Rewatching on DVD old comedies like The Two Ronnies and Are You Being Served? I now get the dodgy jokes.
Same for me. Although I too struggled with jokes as a child, especially things like Yes Minister and Porridge, somehow I KNEW what I was watching was genius.
Brilliant sketch. They are just genius.
Vanessa, I think you'll love The Two Ronnies: Round of Drinks. Another Ronnie Barker masterpiece!
I agree mate! Brilliant 👍
@@Plentisaki It's my favourite!
@@Duncan_Hart One of my favourites too, along with the Optician's sketch, which I unable to find on RUclips 😠
And the swear box
Absolute genius sketch.
The brilliance and subtle genius of this sketch is that it's not the two characters/The Two Ronnies whose lines are crossed but the viewer's(s').
You should watch the sketch ' i've got a problem with my Apple'.. Brilliant !
STUNNING.
They are brilliant. They are legends
Two ronnies pub and wallpaper sketch is great
You’re so right, comedic geniuses. I loved watching them growing up. But there’s another classic sketch for you to check out....it’s the drinks order. I’m sure you’ll find it pretty easy. Love your vids, can’t wait for the next. X
I absolutely love that sketch x
They do a marching band sketch. Very clever
Perfect commentary Vanessa, encapsulating their style of humour. Great to see you again. Best wishes 👍

The sketch is available on Vimeo. I would love to see Vanessa's reaction to this too.

Hey it's not a Tuesday - Happy days!!! Great to see you Vanessa. Have a super weekend xx
Another timeless comedy is Steptoe and Son, a good episode is 'upstairs downstairs upstairs downstairs' So funny.
Good stuff Venessa 👍🏻 Leg ..ends
Best comedy duo of my time.
Oh thanks vanessa i love this one
Two ronnie's misprouniation bit is wonderful. Or the woman's choir. ( not the exact name ) like a musical sketch. Very funny.
"Plumstead Ladies Male Voice Choir" as in Welsh Male Voice Choir and 'Any Location' Ladies Committee
i love your videos Vanessa. I think this a really hard sketch to follow for a non native, referencing brands of bread etc. I am sure for many, this did not make sense . anyway, keep up the videos. you are such a pleasure to watch
The two Ronnies in the episode , the racing duck , is another brilliant one
I would recommend their supermarket and racing pigeon sketch.
One of their cleverest sketches. There being more restrictions on what you could say led to people being more clever with innuendo to get around the censors.
When Kenneth Williams was on the radio he bypassed the censors by inventing a language that sounded rude but wasn't... technically.
@@righthandofdoom77 He didn't invent it - Polari was gay slang that existed long before he was learning it.

Only fools and horses, chandelier episode sweetheart 😂😂😂
Good vid. The writing of the sketch was brilliant. Brilliant review. Thank you the work.

Love it when you do reactions like this, the classics are always the best :)
Vanessa, you are delightful! I love your videos, your sense of humor and your brilliant choice of subject matter. Keep up the great work.
I recommend 'Racing Duck' and 'Crossword'.
As with almost everything they did, we tended to take them for granted. But the longevity of the show speaks for itself.
Ronnie Barker was a real word smith!
You've got to go a long way to beat The Two Ronnies for clever writing.
Check out Jo Koy's " Hula Dance". Keep laughing Vanessa, and keep safe!
The One Ronnie:
I've Got A Problem With My Apple
A classic, couldn’t be written or produced though today. 😆
I'd recommend The Two Ronnies: The Short & Fat Minstrel Show
Recommend checking out Minister for Equality and Minister for Cuts! Ronnie B at his best!
You need to see the Two Ronnies mispronunciation sketch if you really want to see how talented Ronnie Barker really was.
If you like the 2 Ronnie's, you should give Still Game a try. It's a Scottish sitcom and it's so good. You can catch it on Netflix.
Vanessa would like to see you react to Dave Allen, think you'd enjoy him. Either teaching the time or religion.
Yes, you are correct, they don't make comedies like this anymore. Very funny without the need for cursing and trying to shock the audience. Those comedians are also funny, but The Two Ronnie's and Morecambe and Wise are for a family to sit and watch without being uncomfortable.
You need to watch the phantom raspberry blower of London…..it’s probably the two Ronnie’s funniest sketch 😂
Good choice 👍
I could watch you all day long, give you a fairy liquid night cap anytime 😍😍😀

I am not sure how much cockney rhyming slang you know, but "butchers" means taking a look (Butchers Hook, Look)
The Two Ronnies were great.
On the buses and Last of the summer wine.
hi vanessa, lovely to see your back, try father ted its also very very funny
One foot in the grave and Blackadder are great.
A lot of this is done with very English wordplay and I’m not sure how it translates to an American audience. But they are the cleverest funniest masters of wordplay. If you like them, I recommend Name Droppers and Round of Drinks
Would recommend Pointing punting for word play
Gotta do some Pete and dud. They were epic. Well before my time but my grandparents told me about them and I love them.
Watch the Two Ronnies finishing each others sentences
I enjoyed the two ronnies. The worm that turned.
Presumably you like Bucket in Keeping up Appearances but cover up any tattoos!!!
Please do a reaction to my favourite British comedienne Sarah Millican !
Very nice .. I like it :)
Ronnie Barker wrote a lot of these sketches under the pen name of Gerald Wiley.
Hi just two things I wanted to say.... Firstly you are very beautiful and lovely 😍❤ and secondly you should see 'Allo 'Allo!!!! A true British jem from the 80s 😅🤣😂🥰😍😘👏🙌👍
I think a lot of the comedy in this sketch comes from the look of confusion on Ronnie Barker's face.
You can't get Cox's Orange Pippins in the shops these days for love nor money.
You should watch the phantom raspberry blower of old london town starring the two ronnies & writen by spike milligan
Different kind of thing V, but have a sniff at Tim Vine. Punpunpunpunpun.
The classics are the best. Recommend one liners with Gary Delaney or Milton Jones (The Apollo.) Thanks Vanessa.
Loving your videos and your great sense of humour. I have a suggestion for you. Have you seen Catherine Tate doing Nan ? She is very funny although a little vulgar. Great job on the videos! I look forward to seeing more.
cannon and ball help me make through the night, and cannon and ball the ballad of molly malone
Given the recent passing, Sean Lock "Carrot in the Box" would be a good shout. Apologies if it has already been mentioned and I'm spamming.
Please do some reactions to morecambe and wise . Look for ‘The Breakfast’. I think you will love their humour too xx
Ronnie Barker, the tall one wrote a lot of them. Have you watched One Foot In The Grave or Blackadder. Love your channel.
Maybe try the Swedish made simple or the swear box by the two ronnies
Monty Python the dead Parrot sketch
Is it just me?…or does she has the Nintendo wii background music music in the intro 🤔
How long would that have taken to rehearse?
I do a bit of Two Ronnies myself

Wow your beautiful such gorgeous teeth !!

Vanessa have a look at the Monty python argument sketch, quite old but still very funny.
Perfect teeth

Morecomb and wise with andre previn
Gerald? Gerald Wiley.........
You should give "Little Britain" a go, great humour and its a little risky/offensive sometimes. great video, thanks for sharing :)
Where are you? ❤️
Whoah since when are supermodels doing reactions?

I love the two Ronnie's but for me ,,,,Dave Allen still sketches but for me better
If you want to see a modern day comedian, check out Sarah Millican.
Just be aware, her performances are very adult.
