    I honestly don't know how I ended up on your videos but hearing you speak and your soothing voice made me stay: I love to see what people get/want at food pantries. I needed some myself at some point and now I try to give back when I can. Thank you for these lovely videos (and I love that you take time with items and there is no music while you speak).

    My idea for the pineapple right off the cuff, was take the sweet and sour sauce, add the pineapples in it and some form of meat and veggies to go over rice. I would make like an Asian stir fry using the pineapple and sweet and sour sauce.

    Look up a recipe for “ pineapple upside down cake “ . The pineapple circles are on the bottom of the cake pan with cherries in the middle, the pour the cake batter on top+ bake. When cake is done, put a plate over the cake pan+ flip over. P. S. Honey does not spoil. Just put it the microwave 30 seconds at a time to melt crystals.

    So sorry .. don't know how I missed this video. You received some wonderful items in this video, especially the honey. What an awesome blessing! Our weather has gone crazy. This Polar Vortex has everything upside down. Now we are preparing for up to 5" of snow after too much rain, high winds, tornados and temps dropping from 58⁰ down into the teens for the next several days or more. Trying to prepare.
    Hope everything is going well for you. Hope you finally got some rain. The garden looks lush! Take care, my friend! See you next time 🥰

    Hello there, What an awesome abundance of wonderful food to help feed your family. The honey was another great item, They are correct, if you wanted to you could gently heat it up and mix it and it would be just as the day you got it. I too don't mind crystalized honey, I just had a coworker yesterday about to throw away a container of honey because it was crystalized and I told him I would take it. Works just fine in my hot tea!!!

I got a gift of a dehydrator from my soon so am going to start on it Tuesday and Wednesday. You could add the pineapple to the sweet and sour sauces for the str fry and if your budget stretches you could buy a chicken Brest fillet and cut it thinly one would probably be enough if not you could just add veggies that you have. Or un upside down pineapple cake.

    Happy New Year from Dayton, Virginia in the US. I’ve watched your videos but just subscribed today. I love seeing what you get each week and also the wonderful videos of your yard and countryside. Very different from the Blue Ridge mountains I see outside every day. Also, it’s stunning to me to see a food pantry that DOESNT give you a giant jar of peanut butter and an even bigger jar of grape jelly every visit. That’s one and two at every food bank in the US.

      I've been helping at a church food pantry for 12 years we rarely have peanut butter or jelly to give out we always have people asking if we have some especially larger families so in Central Illinois US those are much appreciated items. We always suggest to people if they get something they cannot use pass it on there is always somebody that can use those items

    With the cornflakes and honey you could make cornflakes crackles also known as honey joys. Your children would love making these, it was a never fail holiday activity for my children. My children would sometimes eat them for a breakfast treat and they loved them in their lunch boxes for picnics during the holidays when their father took them yabbying, I worked out of home so my husband was responsible for the children, we lived on a property.

    Hello MEM, happy new year my friend. Quite a nice haul there this time, just the honey, cornflakes and milk would probably cost close to, if not more than the $10 you have to pay. I think it is well worth going there. On one hand it make me sad that in the 21st century there are SO many people, all over the world, who need to use food banks/pantry's, but on the other I am also pleased that they do exist so that families don't have to go hungry.
    I wish you, your family and subscribers a happy and healthy year ahead.
    Much love and respect as always, Jo. xxxx

    • @makingendsmeet

      Hey Jo😊💕 Thanks so much. Yes I think just that honey alone here would nearly cost $10 to buy from the supermarket. It's definitely a huge help and big blessing to get what we do. Hi there, always lovely to hear how much you appreciate being able to do this and no argument that you're very blessed to have this available to you, however one thing that I think is a bit incorrectly worded is when you describe your items as being '$10 worth'??
    I know you're getting all of this for $10 but its cost value is obviously much higher than $10, so perhaps it should say '$10 cost' instead of something along those lines?? Just from an observational viewpoint, that's all.

    • @makingendsmeet
      @makingendsmeet  7 месяцев назад

      Hi😊 Thank you, yes we're very fortunate indeed to have this wonderful food pantry in our area, it's a big help to many families, mine included. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate that ( I've updated the wording on the video thumbnail to better reflect it as costing $10, the value for sure is many times more than the money paid).

    Good to see your got some nice food and that your garden is growing.
    We have had record breaking cold temperatures in the northern half of Sweden lately, where I live around -25 and below -30 in many places in the country side. My sister living even further north woke up to -40 one morning and a lot of buses and trains have been cancelled due to safety. One of the more quirky things that happened due to the cold was that one of the big indoor hockey rinks around where I live had trouble with the ice melting since the cooling system of the hall broke down due to the cold. I didn't even know that problem could arise, everywhere outdoors everything was colder than cold but in that building people where trying desperately to keep the ice from melting too much... And no, you can't just open the doors and let it freeze naturally, that would potentially wreck more things.
    I went grocery shopping today and I am starting to wonder if there is some sneaky elevation of prices after Christmas going on. I did restock some things but I still think that compared to just a couple months ago, I think the prices are up maybe 30-40 AUS to what they were and almost double to 2 years ago. I getting sick of it quite frankly.

    • @makingendsmeet
      @makingendsmeet  7 месяцев назад

      Hey Elin😊 Thanks my friend. Wow, oh my goodness that sounds beyond cold!! Oh no with the hockey rinks, how ironic! Yes it's not good with the huge price increases on groceries, it's not right is it?! And I fear it will only get worse. Stay safe and warm over there. Hope you have a good week. Take care❤️xx

      @@makingendsmeet Thanks! It is very cold even to us that are used to long cold winters. Today it is only -1 and the prognosis is for it to even get above freezing now for a couple days. Then it is all back to cold again but not quite the recent record breaking ones.

    Are you allowed to have chickens where you live? I know if it's like anything here in the USA not all towns are allowed to have back yard chicks but they are great in the garden to clean out the bugs and to fertilize and for eggs

      Hi Lois😊 Yes we're allowed to keep chickens where we are and it is something we've thought about perhaps doing in the future. They would be very handy in the garden to help keep the pests away for sure. Not to mention the eggs and chicken manure!

    Great haul! With the kids home that cereal will be nice for their breakfast. Is what you call jelly like our American jello? If so a few of those pineapple chunks in it might be interesting. I have never seen a white cucumber. Do they taste the same as green ones? Have a great week!

      Thanks Gloria😊 Yes cornflakes are a favourite! Oh sorry, yes I should've mentioned what we call jelly is the same as your jello! That's a good idea with the pineapple. The white cucumbers are very nice, very similar to the green just perhaps a few more seeds in the middle. Hope you have a great week too💕

      @@makingendsmeet I would love cucumber with less seeds. They tend not to agree with me.
