Mostly just picking silverbeet, kale and endive at the moment. I did get a couple of 🍓🍓strawberry plants from a local nursery on the weekend and have planted them in the garden, which is exciting too!

Hey Christine🥰 No need to apologize! As a fellow gardener I love hearing about everything that you're growing, harvesting and planting!! It all sounds so awesome and exciting to me. It gives me ideas too - think I will try to plant some zucchini or button squash too if I can fit them in. The sweet basil (from the food bank) is growing okay but I'm still waiting on those giant pumpkin seeds to sprout (I may have to sow some more seeds directly into the garden because the first lot of seeds I planted in a tray I think dried out too much to germinate). On a positive note, I did get two pots of strawberry plants from a local nursery on the weekend, which I very excitedly planted out in my garden! Hope you have a good week. Enjoy all those okra😋

@@makingendsmeet That’s great about the strawberries. Hopefully in a year or two you’ll have a big patch. I answered an add in the paper for free strawberry plants about 4 years ago. A lady out in the country had huge patches and she was getting ready to plow them under. I dug up about a dozen plants and now I have 3 patches. The berries are small tart and soft, so I can see why she was getting rid of them, but there was a hitchhiker in the dirt. A beautiful purple pink white petunia. And they get huge and grow everywhere. I wish I could send pictures. They might be a wave petunia, but they trail 5-6 feet in all directions. And I find them growing everywhere every spring, in between my bricks in the patio, in pots, even in the cracks in the driveway. This year I potted up a bunch and gave them to friends and family. Hopefully your pumpkin seeds are viable. If not I’m sure you’ll get more seeds soon. And good luck with the squash or zucchini. I’ve heard you are lucky not to have the squash vine borers or squash bugs. They’ve killed eight plants this year and I only got 2 immature squash before they died. I’ve got another round planted and some are trying to produce. Cross my fingers. But maybe it’s a good thing because I’d be overrun by squash without them. Since you like Asian greens 🥬 I go to dollar general, and dollar tree have them, but they have a packet of micro greens seeds for $1. It’s a mix of mustards choi cabbage and kale. Micro greens are just small plants. So I just plant them like normal, but I get about 100x more seeds in those packs. They’ve got a hot mix and mild, and they both have grown great. I let some of the mustard seed last year and collected them to make mustard, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Have fun gardening! I love that you have mulberries. There were 2 trees I used to visit around town but they’ve both been cut down in the last couple years. Some good big pecan trees were cut down too. Luckily there are lots more pecans around but I haven’t found any new mulberry trees to visit yet.

@@Gardeningchristine Those petunias sound lovely!🌼Yes, hopefully I'll end up like you with a big patch or two of strawberries down the track. They're 'Ruby Red' variety of strawberries, meant to be very nice and sweet. The flowers are not the typical white colour for strawberries but a stunning vivid pink/red - they look so pretty! Yes, I think it's a Pink Evening Primrose. There was some primrose seeds in the bee flower mix I planted originally (except it said on the box it was for a different variety??🤷‍♀️)... these pink ones are very pretty but they have indeed taken over one whole section of the large top garden bed like weeds! I think I will be pulling quite a few up shortly to make way for some veggies instead!

@@makingendsmeet my step mom has some growing in her yard too and they do reseed all over too. And her cosmos do the same thing. They are very pretty but do take some work to control.

In past years because it's just a young tree we've only managed to pick a couple of bags for the freezer and some to eat fresh. But this year it has a big crop on, so here's hoping!

Hi Donna🥰 Thanks, yes it's only a young tree and has got a really good crop of nice big berries on this year. I usually pick them regularly and try not to leave any ripe ones on the tree too long. I'm out in my garden at least a couple times everyday so I inspect the tree most times (for a snack lol)! It's a bit of a competition to keep them picked so as to not draw attention from all our local birdlife. If I notice that the birds have discovered the fruit I do also have special fruit tree netting I can use. I'm looking forward to when the majority of the mulberries all ripen so I can pick and freeze them for smoothies or later making jam with😋

@@makingendsmeet Yep! My dogs have harvested my garden of various things. Mostly cucumbers, strawberries, and plums. I had one girl that liked to rub her body on things that she liked the smell. Mostly perfume type of stuff. One day I caught in the middle of a rather large clump of catnip. Really Evie? You do realize you're a dog? 🤣🤣🤣 They're not for everyone but Boxers are hilarious goofballs.

Hey Sherrie😊💕 Thanks so much my friend. Yes, we have two very large mock orange bushes/trees on either side of my vegetable garden and they're so lovely when they bloom. The flowers smell heavenly! We're fortunate enough that now the weather has warmed up I can plant seeds directly into the garden. I'm excited to get back out there and plant some veggies for the summer season.

Hey Sharon😊💕 Thanks! This Turkish bread had a mild garlic flavour with a soft, airy interior and a crust that's slightly chewy. (It's really nice for sandwiches and using with all sorts of meals too, not just as pizza bases like I used it for).

Weather has changed this week with kids going back to school ather having six weeks summer holidays here in uk it was lovely and sunny on Monday and Tuesday weather completely changed over night very autumn weather now hope you have lovely week
