Thats some christmas hamper! Better than most families will have treats wise at Christmas,those pantry workers need recognition for sure! As ofcourse to the people and organisations who donated. Every one deserves some nice things to eat.
Thank you. Yes it's an amazing hamper! We're so lucky to be given such lovely food, it'll be a tremendous help to my family at this time of year. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful food pantry in our community. The volunteers are incredibly kind and thoughtful too.

My gosh that's a great haul! So many great and useful things. Can't believe your food prices. The highest I have seen watermelon here, even off season is $9 and it's usually closer to 6 or 7. The kids are going to love the candies, chips and popcorn. Glad you got a couple of items that will save you baking time.
Here in New Zealand it is even worse our food prices are insane 🤦♀️
@@natashawilliams7139 I can't even imagine. With everything going on in middle east, Russia/Ukraine, even Panama canal the shipping costs are going to bankrupt everyone. I have a feeling 2024 is going to be bumpy. If you can grow a garden do it. Can and freeze what is extra every little bit helps
Thanks Gloria. Yes I wasn't expecting to be given a special Christmas hamper at all! Was such a wonderful surprise and blessing!! And it was perfect timing too. Yes the prices here on many items are getting ridiculous!! Years ago to buy a whole watermelon would've cost us about what you are paying over there now but that seems like a long time ago now, don't know what happened?! The kids will be definitely loving all the treats! Thanks, will be fun to do some cooking on the holidays with some of the things we received too😊
Have you tried the cucumbers onions and tomatoes chopped up with half vinegar and water with salt pepper sugar and oil to taste. I call them fridge pickles. You can also use Italian dressing, vinegar, and garlic salt. So yummy. I’m definitely growing more cucumbers next year because I love them so much!
Mmm that sounds very tasty Christine, yum! Yes I love that sort of thing too, I have tried making a few things like that over the years as well. My cucumber vines are getting heaps big now, hoping they'll start setting flowers soon to fruit!
Love the biscuits, just make sure they are biscuits and not button's or sewing stuff lol. Glad you got such a great hamper xx

Happy New year to your family, our New Year started snowing it's not all that fun when you use a wheelchair but i do my best. Bills went up so high I'm using our food pantry and doing it on doctor visits to help with the price of gas at $3.88 gallon . I will say it would be very nice to get what you did but maybe it was a low week.

Oh wow my friend, what an AMAZING hamper. So much wonderful stuff for the Christmas holidays. You could mix the passion fruit pulp through the cream to go on the pavlova. That jar of jam is delicious, and the fruit cake looks similar to the ones my mum sometimes made for Christmas. Not only have you got some wonderful treats but a bonus storage hamper, ideal for laundry or kids toys.

I just went to Coles and watermelon was $2.50 a kilo in case anyone desperately wants it for Xmas.......and anyone watching this video outside Australia that pavlova has almost become a staple on Australian and New Zealands....It's Summer in Australia so it's a bit hot to have a plum pudding. ....A pavlova is basically a giant meringue with a soft centre that you put cream and fresh fruit on.......England has their plum pud, France has the Yule log. America often have a vanilla cake with frosting and a Xmas design and I think Australia and N.Z. should really The Pav as our National Xmas dessert......I bet Australia seels more of those at Xmas over plum puds.

Cheese and crackers I thought paying $8 for a watermelon this summer was awful & I refused to pay that much. I can’t imagine $30-$40.

@@makingendsmeet that’s something I’ve had no luck in growing. I get tiny vines and baseball size fruit. I’ve only tried growing the sugar baby, which is supposed to be smaller. Good luck if you try! I’m sending big fruit vibes your way!
