- Matt has been getting a bunch of questions about the processes we use to build necks. It was high time to make an action-packed video to help shed a little light on the subject.
Get in on the action of TTG Mailroom. Matt & Chris will curse, complain, and read your awful mail.

Nothing more soothing than watching bigger pieces of wood turn to art. 👍
Couldn't agree more!
Cool to see the beginning process on your necks. I got a few...
Yeah man, you know what's up
Great video, missed you guys Sunday
Sorry Dan
How I "FIX" it?
Every time I see it. She's just a beast! That shaper is so fantastic. It's all in the segmented blades. What fun!
Lord knows I love it!
you make it look so easy
Very cool, thanks Matt.
Glad you liked it Pete
Thanks Matt. I was wondering why you didn't cut the headstock angle with the band saw first. And then you did!
It's easier to let the pin router mark it first
🦃HAPPEE THANKSGIVING, Matt, Chris, & MrsToast!! Love the channel!🦃
Thanks so much
Brilliant vid as always my friend.
Thanks muchacho
I am going to need a bigger shop, for all these jigs, you keep showing me to build, LOL My Pin router chuck is coming next week, working on the guide pins and the locator for them, My Beloved being created!! New video up today, building the template for my Melody Maker Dug Out Acoustic
Right on
Question: how would one angle the headstock with a regular hand router or router table? Your pin router seems to be a real game changer.
Great work. Would love to see videos on fixing mistakes. Maybe how to deal with router mistakes, miss drilled holes, paint mistakes, ops I made my fretboard to thin. That kind of stuff.
Jake, I don't think you would like that video too much... not the way I fix those problems
I owe you guys a big Thanks for your advice on finishing my black limba body build.
Which is a wood I've never worked with before ,you saved my ass on this one. Its turned out astoundingly well. I'll send a pic when done . Thanks again.
Glad to hear that Dennis
Happy Monday! good follow through , understands how that comes about , since necks at the Telecaster class were ready for us. A great Thanksgiving to you Matt, Chris and KerryAnn
Thanks so much Steve, you too brotherman
Pretty cool neck!
Love the tshrit!!!
It's a classic
love your guitars, that neck is awesome, what size is the nut.......on the guitar neck....
As usual you have great videos at the right time. I actually did my truss rods routs first while my sides were square. Looks like I need to make a 7% ramp… thanks again and again
You will figure out the best way for you Michael
@@TexasToastGuitars wish I had a pin router! Did your technique with a good sharp router bit in a drill press after making a 7 degree block and using it to guide my band saw and level my price under the router. It was slow and rough but with the help of a sander it was perfectly level. 3 angled headstocks in an afternoon. Thanks man
Another excellent video.
At what point do you make the end of the headstock perpendicular to the face of the headstock?
We do not do that, see also the Gibson Les Paul
Matt, love the content. What bits(brand) are you using for your pin router. Thanks
We really like the Klingspor bits
@@TexasToastGuitars Thanks for the info. Keep up the great work.
Awesome to see that dewalt nicad still in action! is it an Xrp? scary that is almost concidered a vintage tool now, anyway great video.... efficient AF
Those are old drills for sure
Nice T-shirt cameo! Ha. Ha. Ha!
Classic
Where can I find those paddles you use on the shaper?
I'm sure Amazon has them
Greatest shirt E-V-E-R!!👍🏼
Thanks Grant
Why do the large manufacturers seem to prefer Sapele over African Mahogany for necks? The cost is similar. Is it because it's harder and potentially more stable?
I don't really know?
king of the band saw
Why thank you Danald
What is the meaning of the saying on your shirt??
What is the meaning of it?
It's just something I say at classes when it's time to shape necks.
One of the students made a shirt for me with the quote
This is how we do it....
HAHAHA
A comment for the algorithm, so you get money dollas
BIG MONEY BIG MONEY
where's the beard?
Dig.
'smooth, flat and wonderful'?? you're adorable and maybe pretty
