This dude is one of the most positive people to sit in the chair. Of course he’s going to give everything a “jam”. He’s looking beyond the music into the spirits of the musicians. To say a song sucks is to condemn those people to hell. Personally, I don’t have a problem with talking negatively about a bad song.
I don't know man, when I think of a jam I think of improvisation and musicians playing off each other like crazy. I feel like you can interpret jam however you want, but there is an entire genre based off the word. To those people who take the word jam seriously, something like Blondie or Lady Gaga singing a solo would not be considered a "jam". I don't think something needs to be a jam to be good under my interpretation either
@Demian People who express their opinions honestly are almost always mistreated for it. People can say they don't mind honest opinions, but I'm not seeing it. 🤷♂️
The last prominent thing he did was with Daft Punk's Random Access Memories. Pretty sure he's done other stuff since then but that's one of the most well known from his later catalogue and a good starting place.
This dude opened for Cher with his homies and I was absolutely FLOORED. best opening act I’ve ever seen ever. He is amazing!!!!!!! So magnetic to watch!! Just loved it! I would love to see a show with the whole crew jamming for 1-2 hours!
I heard that song by Donna Summers in junior high in 1976 while on a bus in Sacramento, CA. LORD HAVE MERCY! Then I saw her picture and that did it for me. I remember my dad beating on the bathroom door telling me to ‘turn it loose’ and get out of the bathroom.
@@cbcmusic Something tells me you misunderstood me regarding who exactly I was referring to by "Nile", hehe -- but hey, if not, I'm truly impressed! hehe, maybe we did misunderstand which Nile you were referring to! Great point about metal bands being open to other styles of music. Especially hip hop! There is such a cool connection between hip hop and metal music. We will most certainly let you know next time we get a metal act in on Jam or Not a Jam. Thanks for watching!

Hey, OKOYA66. Are you completely unaware of the entire premise of "Jam or Not a Jam?" If the listener likes a song, they call it a jam. If they don't like it, it's not a jam to them. Pretty simple concept. I mean, I understand that brainwashed Commies just cannot fathom anything outside this collective groupthink crap, but we're not all a bunch of autonomous sheep who are ready to blow smoke up your keister. 🤷♂️
well...that was underwhelming...who the hell would say "Rapture", "Love to Love You Baby", or that old Will Smith track was not a jam?? As for Gaga's "Shallow" it's a cool sounding track but I don't think it' would've been a big hit on its own without the movie connection. Not a jam for me, but "Poker Face" sure was...
Well, I think more notably, they played Nile all songs from his genre or songs that he wrote/produced. Meanwhile they played Geddy a wider range of genres.
I think they gave him all jams to save the other artists the embarrassment of having Nile Rodgers state that your song is not a jam. Very Canadian move.
I've watched a few of these videos. Scott Ian, this one, anvil, nickleback, the songs chosen are weak... I may need to thumbs one of these down to stop getting recommended these generic vids.

That's odd. I think it's even funnier when people can't wrap their tiny heads around the fact that not everyone is going to have a perfectly positive opinion. That was about 30 minutes shorter than I wanted it to be.
The best Jam or Not a Jam I've seen so far. Loved his input on all of these.
that's what she said
I want to see Nile's opinion on every top 40 song since 1985
Aren't they all!
Nile Rodgers = Jam
Exactly! I suggested above that this man is on the same musical genius level as Miles was.
I wish I could give this comment every thumbs up possible.
Totally agree, but can't bring myself to change the like count when its at 311 lol
thats not fair
he wrotes like 90% of every music ever recorded
I heard even Beethoven came to him for advice 😆
Watching Nile tear up over Gaga is so wholesome.
having niles fucking rogers give your performance the 'yes lawd' praying hands must be something else
This is awesome. Nile is a great musician, producer and songwriter.
He sure is! Such a legend...
What songs would you have liked to see us play for him?
@@cbcmusic Tough call. How about things featuring his late bandmate, Tony Thompson? He was in the supergroup, The Power Station.
Thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully we can have him on again and crowd source for playlist suggestions!
