I got ya some bearing numbers. 6203-zz-3/4 is a shielded bearing. It will allow lubricant flow thru it to the axle end , like for use in a Mst-205/6 that is factory filled with gear oil. 6203-2rs-3/4 is a sealed bearing , like you used. And also like I used , in my Mst-206 after removing the seals. I couldn't get the shielded bearings so I removed the seals. 2 bearings should be like 15$ max , vs the oem peerless needle bearings and spacers used in an Mst.... Seems like a lot of transaxles use this 6203 series bearing. Jus my .02c
6203 bearings have a 17mm diameter, not 3/4". The outside diameter is correct though. I have two 6203-2rs bearings. They fit in the case, but not the shaft in my 930.
Fantastic video. I enjoy your many posts on both Atltf and the Diy.... You explain things VERY well and I really appreciate that. Keep up the great work Doc.
+Sprocket's Garage Hey, awesome video!!! I would need your help..when you say at 2.56 a 15 fell... and at 3.11 40 thou at crosspin... I tried to translate and change to mm or tenths but I cant so can you help me please?
+TheRoadbreaker At 2:56, 0.015" inches = 0.38mm. At 3:11, 0.040"= 1.02mm total, or 0.51mm per side. They should not have to be exact but fairly close. Hope this helps.
+Sprocket's Garage Thank you very much for information...It helps very much... now I know that the washers are good cause it has 0.28 mm... Thank you again...
Doc, really like your videos and the way that you explain things. I'm like Strange Mower, I have a 800 Peerless Transaxle and want to change over to Oil fill when I do the Doc Locker on mine and don't want Oil leaking all over the place. The reason I am Locking the Transaxle is, because I live on a big mountain and push the snow.
Fantastic! Let us know how it goes. I will be locking an 801 shortly, for my son. At a quick glance, "Doc Locking" an 800 may be even simpler than a 900 series. I don't think the the lock collars and thrust washers are required.
Howdy doc. Just wonderin if you would have time to type out the steps of changing a 930 over to oil from grease yet? I was paid with a 930 for fixin another fellers tractor for him and would like to lock it and replace the spicer I have with said 930. But the oil conversion thing seems like a must to me!
good video , what effect will a locked trans have on turning if any using a solid axle offers some interesting options like a wider stance room to add real brakes, and maybe dual wheels without bolting the wheels together I will have to think on this for a while. My mule is serious working machine hauls firewood for my home done great for the last ten years but now I have to go farther a haul up steeper hills need all the traction I can get thanks Jim
As you might expect, it does tend to understeer or "push" some, depending on traction conditions. For the most part, it's quite tolerable. As for the brakes- you bet! MULE is equipped with a 6" rotor on the axle, and a mechanical brake caliper, actuated by a pedal I swiped off a Polaris ATV.
would one of these be able to run vertical? input shaft being horizontal and running 4 of these together? thinking hydros might be better for what i want them for, trying to find best transaxle for a articulating chassis
How did you convert your trans akle from grease to oil i have a 930 series grease filled licked id like to convert from grease to oil if you can let me know thanks alot Andrew
That's not a bad idea at all, Mike! If the collars were to let loose, the axle could walk sideways and things would start breaking. I have not had this happen yet, but it seems that zapping the collars in would completely eliminate it as a possibility. Good thinking, sir!
Excellent idea Mike- I haven't had it happen yet after much abuse, but- should a collar let go, the axle could walk out with disastrous results. A few zaps would render that impossible. Good thinking, sir!
Hi some good questions there. I fill by eye with the case open, but 16oz oughta be good. You don't want too much, or leakage becomes more of a problem. As for the drain plug- the case material is fairly thin, so you've gotta be careful with that, and clearances in the case are tight in many places you you'd have to be mindful of your plug potentially hitting something inside. I have not done a drain plug because of the above reasons, and find it simple enough to drop the case periodically.
I have a question about the chain, is it bad if the chain is kinda stiff? My mower would feel like the trans would miss a split second or occasionally bind. All the gears look fine, Im wondering if it could be the chain?

I STAND CORRECTED! Apparently not all 6203 bearings have the same diameter. 😎

Great video, I really enjoy the explanations you give us and the actual taking apart to show us the parts. Thanks for posting.
+Albert Chasse Thank you. I appreciate the props!

also to help keep the oil from leaking out the axle shafts put Grease ONLY on the axle shafts thats the way i do my rear ends

Will it still work if I have axles welded together
I will be trying this with a piece of 3/4" drill rod
Has to be easiest rear end to modify just wondering..Is it one of the strongest..?!i?

nice! cool method!

No problem. I haven't got time to type it out right now, but I'll get back to you. If I forget, remind me in a day.
Just take it apart, remove and clean grease, seal it back with rtv, then add oil. If you have no hole, make one and find a plug.
What about wielding the collars once you get them fitted just right?
That's not a bad idea at all, Mike! If the collars were to let loose, the axle could walk sideways and things would start breaking. I have not had this happen yet, but it seems that zapping the collars in would completely eliminate it as a possibility. Good thinking, sir!

thank's and cool mod you got their.
How much oil do you use in your 930? I live in Florida, and I plan to use 80w90 gear oil. Any thoughts on adding a drain plug?

Scott Klar The chain only affects reverse operation. If it's sticky, replace it.
How do you replace the shifter shaft? I need to replace the small pin that slide the slider. Any help?
You need to open up the vase and pull the shift shaft assembly out. If the pin is bad, drive out what's left of it with a hammer and small punch.
what is the case material for these? Awesome video btw!
Cast aluminum- sorry for the late response.
do you know if you can run a hydro shaft driven no clutch?
Damn bro wishbi would have seen this before I locked my last one
Next time!
do you live in canada kuz prinses ato
He lives in Ontario. He mentions it in the video.
Doug's right (and he'd better be) ;)
Ontario Canada or Ontario Wisconsin
Canada!
sorry its a 5 speed murry
Too much timmies huh?
Good video! Now you just need a better camera!
Thanks- actually, the camera's great. Problem is, I gotta knock it down in size and resolution because of my internet. Hoping that will change soon.
Oooooooooooooooh. Lame.
LOL... Yeah. You SAW my intro video. I I say anything about cumpyewterz, Nooooo. LMAO
