You're very welcome!
I really love this chanel and of course the contents that they've been making.
I'm from Vietnam, where English isn't common, and isn't spoken in daily life, and it's hard for a huge amount of people to learn and improve their English themself.
Even though, I can sense that the contens that you both have made, very useful and practical, I listen to it with my earbubs every morning comuting to work and on the way back home, in oder to learn more or less from listening
I appriciate it, nnd hopefully there will be many more videos from both of you, my teachers 😊

Hello lovely teachers, thank you for this amazing podcast. Just wondering whether the question “can I pay by cash” is grammatically correct?
Yes that's totally fine!
Can I pay by card
Can I pay by cash
Can I pay [with] cash
Thanks a lot again! I remember in New York at Sbarro's, they offered me "a box to take away" my slice pizza. Not " a box to go".
Good listening! Yes you might hear both phrases: "a box to go" or "a box to take away" OR "a box to take out"
Dear Mark & Cat//do u have conversation club option at your channel.
Currently not, but we are looking at some potential options very soon!
❤
❤
Thank you 🙏🏻❤❤
My favorite one is
Is this chair thaken?
Sorry! My friend is sitting there
Those ones are very helpful! Sometimes in a crowded cafe, we need to save seats or share seats, it just depends! Thanks for joining us today!
Excellent !!
Is it possible to put the subtitles with the reductions you use?
Sorry it’s mostly listening practice at that point! But we might be able to think about that for our next video and try something for the subtitles ☺️
Can l have this to take away. What does it mean. Please explain
I just don't get the meaning of asking "Do you serve breakfast all day?" For what I know, breakfast is the first meal and then comes the lunchs, then the dinner. So if the evening has passed, why would we need a breakfast any more. Another sentence getting me confused is "Could I order off the lunch menu?". I just don't know what that means. Hope somebody could help me understand these sentences better.
Hiya, I think I can help, it’s becoming more common for restaurants to serve breakfast items over lunch or even longer as breakfast and lunch become brunch. So if there’s a dish available in the breakfast section you could order it at 2pm if they offer breakfast all day.
For the second question: usually there’s a breakfast section or breakfast menu and a lunch menu around lunchtime, usually around 11/1130 restaurants switch over to lunch so maybe they stop offering breakfast or lunch isn’t available yet so you can ask to make sure
Hope that helps!
@@highlevellistening Thank you very much for all your free but extremely high quality lessons and for taking time to respond to my questions. You are so kind and thoughtful.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hi, thanks for the video. I would just suggest you two use the same words in each sentence, which is good for the viewers to see the difference of pronunciation. Unless, of course, when there are different words for the same thing that are used differently in each country.
Yes, that’s what we try to do in most of the phrases if it’s easy to change the words, some phrases are different because they are more common in the US or UK
@@highlevellistening And, to be honest, in my opinion, it is not a big deal if a non native uses the American or British pronunciation, since the communication happens. However, sometimes, it can be a bit embarrassing. My first time in the Netherlands, I was visiting a huge building, and asked for the restroom. The lady understood "restaurant". She replied: there is no restaurant in this building. I understood: no restroom... I tought: whaaat!!! Since then, I always use toilet, which is a french word that is almost the same in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch... And more, days ago a friend of mine told me in a very polite way: Flavio, "cell phone" is in the US, we use "mobile"...
Is this chair taken? If it is taken(past), should we use Is this? Thank you?
We have two options:
The chair is taken (occupied)
The chair is free (available)
we're using them more like adjectives in this case.
Sorry this chair is taken, but that one over there is free
all the chairs were taken at the cafe, so we decided to sit at the bar.
There weren't any chairs available at the cafe, so we sat at the bar.
hope that helps!
Do you have seating outside?
I like this phrase! Especially in the summertime!
Did I understand correctly, Could I pay with cash? But if I want to pay by card I should say-Could I pay by card?Thank you!
Yes! I know in textbooks it can be a little confusing "by card" and "with cash" are very commonly used in spoken English
Can I pay with cash, can I pay in cash are both commonly used.
Do you take cash? is also used!
In the case of "Can I order here?" What if I cancelled here. What does here imply?
In this sentence: Can I order here: I would be pointing to the place where I am standing, sometimes pick up and order are in different places. Can I order here? Or should I order over there?
Please Teachers I'm confused about the spelling of SEATTING and SITTING in your subtitles Which one is correct ?
Good question, sorry if there was a typo:
Is there any seating available?
This is a common way to ask are there chairs and places to sit outside.
Sitting is a verb and seating is a noun
hope that helps!
Can I say Do you... Instead of are you open in the evenings?
Yes it’s possible, “do you open…” for a verb for the person opening the store and has the keys, “are you open” for store hours hope that helps!
@@highlevellistening I got it. Thank you for your explaination.
Can I order OFF the lunch menu
Yesss it’s very common to use!
Can we say 'can I pay in cash' also?
Yes! That would also be okay ✅
Is there sitting outside? Does it mean that there are some tables and chairs?
Yes, exactly what you said! Is there seating outside? means I can sit outside and be served or have my food/drinks outside
Straw is single why do you say “are teachers?
Hi the question is “where are the straws?” It might be a subtitle error sorry about that ☺️
Thank you for the lesson
Thank you for joining us in class!
