One of the greatest scenes ever and all done without the use of CGI.
Old films are considered better than modern ones. Because the scenery for filming was natural, thanks to this, the films turned out somehow realistic.
Movie Magic the John Carpenter way
Same with the thing
Remember, when being stalked by a flaming car with no driver, the obvious thing to do is to try and get away as quickly as possible by running right down the middle of the road.
Yep.
You dont even need to run.
You got the time to call an Uber I'm sure.
Yep..that ploy always works against a demonic car that you've just set on fire.
Here I thought that dipping thru houses and trying to find a hiding place was the goal. I'd been dead for sure, on that one. Thanks
The car can still offroad, but it has a chance of getting stuck, I guess.
@@cutercills9x9gaming49 nah, as shown earlier in the film, she's very determined.
Man, that Camaro Buddy's driving is a thing of beauty. Magnifique!!!
WAS a thing of beauty. Until Christine got it.
@@samalvey8168 yep😞
With no engine in the gas station scene
Look inside the hood of the Camaro there is no engine in it. 👀
@@michaelfreedom.1966 If you look even closer there’s no interior either look at the wide shot when Christine drags the car backward and breaks off
Buddy is the quintessential 35 year old HS senior from 80s movies.
He was like 23 IRL. But yeah, he looks like he was held back a few years.
Fun Fact, the car playing Christine in this scene is actually called Alice.
Alice tried for a long time to get noticed by a Hollywood agent, but sadly only ever managed a few shots in this specific film.
After this, Alice went to Vegas and descended into a life of Gambling and Self Loathing.
Some say she can still be seen cruising the strip at night, but i suspect this is just an urban legend.
Man! We need a Christine about now!! On a national level
One of the creepiest scenes I've ever seen on screen in my life. Buddy and his gang seem to have fallen into a real hell, but on earth.
Buddy and his gang learned the hard way what happens when you wreck a demonic car. I was rooting for Christine throughout this moment.
It was as if they were in a real hell, but on earth.
@@delorean_time I'm not for sure, but I think the soul of anyone killed by Christine went straight to hell. Appropriate place for buddy.
Fun Fact: the stunt driver driving Christine when she was on fire couldn't see or breathe much because of the huge flames on christine, thankfully he wasn't hurt in anyway shape or form, nor was Christine
😅 oh that is a relief 😮💨
Here is a riddle I am a town but I don’t have people I am the sun but I do not sign
That’s right the stuntman was Terry Leonard and the scene is cut as when the car backs out on fire in reality the car cut out before it sets back off to chase Buddy Repperton
@@scottptolomey3498 huh???
Man that was FUN.....lol
The burning Christine looks even more cool (or hot) than she normally does! This is one of the greatest movie scenes EVER!
I don't know. She looks perfect when she ain't on fire
She didn't seem to be going that fast, yet she still managed to catch up to Buddy, who was sprinting down the road. Maybe a heel broke on his boot, he tripped, fell and..."AHHHHH!"
like him from the powerpuff girls hearing his evil echo voice
@@sharonjensen3016 The dude who ran down the road without swerving didn't get permission from the screenwriter to get away from the chase as best as he could.
@@KingCeee By the way, I have a question. How was the scene filmed when the flame-covered car drove out of the burning structure? Filmmakers that pulled up on a cable? After all, the person who was in the car at that time could suffocate from the smoke or become a pie from the microwave.
Truly the definition of "Hell on Wheels" 🔥🔥🔥
I personally think one of the most terrifying moments of the film is the reveal of Christine at 4:21. The long twang note, the dark highway, the bright headlights backlit by the flames. A single moment of relentless vengeance coming toward you and you knew there was no escape. This really is one of the best supernatural horror films ever.
The dude who ran down the road without swerving didn't get permission from the screenwriter to get away from the chase as best as he could.
Not to mention the highway looks flat, where is he gonna run? The car will just follow him off the road.
These two oxygen thieves tried to kill her. You can't blame her for wanting to do the same to them, I found myself cheering for her. I love that "C'MON PRICK< WE'RE NOT FINISHED YET!"
Christine: "Of course not. I've only just begun. See you in hell shitter!"
One of the great parts about that scene is when he's run over there's no screaming at all. You just hear a bump and see the burning corpse on the road. Small things that just keep adding up. It's such a John Carpenter thing.
They should’ve put a YIELD sign just before he gets run over
Christine is not a villain. She just want justice
One of my all time favorite horror movies....saw it for the first time when I was 8 😂

As bad as Buddy otherwise was, he at least obeyed the "Keep Off the Grass" signs along the road.
Great 80s movie and the soundtrack. One of the best scene in this film.
There's no engine in that Camaro 2:38 gotta love low budget movies stopping all the big and little mistakes
I like how Christine demolishes Buddy's baby and then sits there for a bit to enjoy his pain.
Fun trivia: the red haired guy at the gas station was the goofball friend who stayed over in town in Friday the 13th pt2
Gta 5 during Halloween 😂 so this is where they got that from

Chinese proverb says: "man running in front of car will get tired." Poor Buddy, he also got flamed. 🔥
Poor Buddy? Please. He was rotten to the core. Deserved to be turned into a crispy critter. The only way to identify him would be dental records.
Amazing how this movie never looked fake, How is that possible. What a genious John Carpenter was. This is my favorite movie ever.
Thr dummy flying through the air at 3:10 is just great.
This scene hurt me wrecking that badass Camero.
Christine hit Scumbag Buddy where it hurts the most, by wrecking his prized possession. Hurts, doesn't it, bully?
I wish they wouldn't wreck such classic cars. You may not have liked the first Rambler Marlin, but I did. There is this dinosaur movie where they crash an old rambler Marlin. I hate it when they crash '98' through 2011 Crown Victorias. While there are plenty of them out there, it still hurts to see it. My 2011 Crown Vic has close to 139,000 miles on it. People are getting over a million miles on the "Panther" cars. Some of the best cars ever built in this country. From what I've been reading for the past few years, you won't get 1,000,000 miles out of a new Mercedes, nor a new BMW.
Eye for an Eye.....
4:22 trademark John Carpenter in every sense
Just like the music in Halloween 3
One of my favorite scenes from this! Love it! 😈
"He's backin' up TOO!" 1:43 LOL! OH NO! Not that! What did they expect?
3:56: Now that's what i call a "hot wheel".
At 2:39 when Christine crashes, then is dragging the body of the Camaro out from the station, you can see through the space between the hood and the body that it has no engine in it.
Great scene though.
Your right 👍
Hell, there's no floor or firewall or front seats or anything in it. You can see straight through the whole interior right down to the ground. Probably had to cut out as much structure as possible to get it to crush so badly when it was hit.
After this, Brian Johnson became the lead singer for AC/DC.
Ironically, the great Bon Scott was found dead INSIDE a car...

Christine was inspired by the movie The Car (1977)
The Car was her big brother...lol. That movie, if it wasnt Satan driving that car then I dont know what is

Buddy must be a super duper super senior in high school. He was able to buy alcohol at the store.
Maybe he claimed he was buying it for someone else. Or had a fake ID.
Was the drinking age still 21 in 1978?
My friends and I knew of a gas station in 91 where they'd sell us beer even though they knew we were 16. The old guy who seemed to be there 24/7 said "I don't care how fuckin old they are as long as they got money."
I just love this movie. And I love the song "Little Bitty Pretty One". But every time I hear that song, I wonder if Christine is coming to get me.
Good luck running in those engineer boots!
The entire film is predicated on the victims doing exactly the right thing to keep themselves vulnerable.
"because it's just a movie".....John Carpenter on why Buddy runs down the middle of the road....
@@markm3416 It isn't a convincing excuse, even from John Carpenter.
This scene was style over substance
The Night Rider! He knows me!
So much for Richie & Vandenburg they go down in flames like their buddy AKA Buddy Repperton.
The fire stunt was great.
Ha ha the song lmao pizza burning , yes I know it’s from the stones but it sounds like my pizza is burning 🔥🤣🤣🤣
When will they ever learn you can't outrun a car on foot?
No joke. If I am being chased by a car I WONT be running on the damn road!.
Too bad Buddy couldn't keep his mouth shut. He just made it worse for himself and pissed Christine off even more.
I remember the line from kings book after repperton is killed...."...when he heard Christine's bellow of triumph. It was as if a prehistoric animal had come to life and tracked it's prey to the ground, like a giant wolf or maybe a saber tooth tiger"
And Buddy's death was far more disturbing.
Does he keep looking back while he's running to get away? No wonder she caught up to him.
@@sharonjensen3016 No, his ending was very different in the book in the sense he was badly injured and literally chased up to high ground after his car was totalled when he was driving and christine was waiting to finish him off after that. Buddy ultimately dies of his injuries
Slowly and painfully, all alone. That's the kind of person I wouldn't help if I saw him lying on the ground. I wouldn't even stop my car to pick him up if I saw him running down the road pursued by a flaming car. "Nah, you're on your own! I don't intend to die. See ya!"
@@sharonjensen3016 Yeah, there are some people like him who have forfeited the right to be treated decently because he was not just a bully. There was something borderline psychopathic and disturbing about him. I did feel a tinge of sympathy for him after reading this part in the book, however when I thought about what he had done to systematically torment people he perceived as weaker than him, my immediate thought was karma. It comes back full circle and one reaps what one sows. I agree with you. I wouldn't help him either.

The car from hell 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
That scene was filmed in Santa Clarita at McBean Pkwy and Valencia Blvd. Some of the community heard the explosion.
1:07 that has to be the most brightest headlights i ever seen!
There's only one logical explanation why he decided to run down the road - if you take a closer look at 3:47 and 4:53, you may see the cars passing in front. Perhaps, there was some sort of an intersection where Buddy had hoped to find help.
From the other hand, the terrain around is plain and there is barely place to hide
4:53 Fire Buddy dies reference Anakin dies
The landscape was basically flat, meaning the car would follow you off the road with little problems
3:34 The look on his face. Sh!t just got real for this guy.
Christine becomes even more amazing when you find out that John Carpenter took the film simply because it was the only project he was offered after everybody took a dump on The Thing the year before.
He had multiple projects lined up, but the overwhelmingly negative response to The Thing led to those projects being cancelled, as Carpenter was considered to be poison.
So, yeah, it was simply a job for Carpenter, yet he was skilled enough to carefully craft a great exercise in Suspense.
Saw a car in my town that looked a lot like Christine. Different colour but very similar. Don't know if it was a Fury or a Belvedere but there can't be many of either here in the UK. As I passed the car I felt compelled to remark on what a beautiful classic it was. Just wanted it to know I respected it. Just to make sure it didn't take a dislike to me. You never know...
Creepy film.
Christine was bad ass.
the car on the lift is up in one shot then on the ground in the next
Well spotted.
I wonder if they used a real Camaro for this scene. I hope not.
Who knows? But I'm pretty sure that's a flaming mannequin on the road standing in for the actor playing Buddy. Quick "CUT! Throw the burning dummy on the road!" Well, it looked like it was thrown.
The moment that Buddy Repperton realizes that this isn't just a nerd in a car, this is a *hostile supernatural entity* and it's coming for him, at 3:45 he just tosses his ad hoc weapon aside and RUNS. No wonder he decided to do the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things. He was being chased by an *angry demon.* And Chrstine toyed with him during the entire run, only striking when he was about to reach the safety of an intersection. Some masterful stunt and camera work here.
Nevert understood why buddy ran down the middle of hwy from a car
Cut him some slack. Not everyone is a rocket scientist and he looks like he's been held back a lot in school.
Because Vinny Barbering is an idiot. Travolta at his lowest point, all jacked up on steroids and being an ass. It took me a while to even like him again...!up to about Pull Fiction I didn't like him.

I love this movie, but the one movie scene that scares me more than any other movie scene in any movie, is Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds." It is the playground scene. It's like all the birds collectively scheme, plan their attack. For some reason, that scene scares me more than any scary scene in any movie I've ever seen.
