Oh no way, Fort Collins represent!! Loved the detailed review. Will be treating myself to an upgrade to the Series 6 from my OLD series 1. This review on the fitness tracking was the best I’ve seen yet so thank you!
These are some pretty cool insights. Your other video on 6 vs SE was pretty great too. Would love to see you review other tech products too (like phones)
Thanks! I wish I had time for reviews outside of sports tech but I do dabble in some filmmaking videos on my other channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCtgjCeBQBwQk64N8FLYS8JQ Thanks!!
Just clicked on this review after ordering the 6 abs it’s the best review I’ve ever seen. It’s quick, amazing footage and pictures. Editing is really clean and professional. The dude is cool it’s like your cool, smart mate telling you what you need to know. Excellent work. 👍🏽 subbed
Great in depth review, exactly what I have been waiting for. Perfect timing for black Friday sales. This will be my first apple watch and looking forward to it. Keep up the great work.
Oh man, you are the best when it comes to unbiased and in depth dissection of a product with the spotlight on its sports capabilities. Thank you so much!!!
I returned my series 6, cause I have tattoos on my wrists, and they interfere with wrist detection. My workouts pause, no stand time or notifications. I went back to my series 5. The LED setup on the 6, is totally different than on the 5.
Always enjoy your in-depth reviews. I Just picked up the Apple Watch 6 (Fitbit user for last 4 years) and getting used to the new interface. Thanks for the content - keep them coming.
@@DesFit did you have any trouble with the Apple Watch 6 recording sleep data? In my case, the watch is not recording any data for past 2 nights. Will the watch automatically track sleep even if I don’t turn on the “sleep mode”? Like in Fitbit, when you sleep, it automatically tracks the data. Of course, my Apple Watch battery was in the 80-90% range. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
@@DesFit do you know if it’s possible to get turn-by-turn directions during a workout (e.g. an outdoor run)? I’m switching over from my fenix 6 pro and that’s the main feature I can’t figure out on the Apple Watch Series 6 (I’m guessing it’s not possible)
Regarding heart rate, using the supplied Outdoor Walk app I’ve found the reported heart rate can be off as much as 40 bpm compared to the Heart Rate app or the third part Cardio app. If in the middle of the walk I use the Heart Rate app to check, the Outdoor Walk app immediately switched its reported bpm to match. The Outdoor Walk app also just blanks out at times and does not report bpm at all.
Wow, love your video and style! Finally somebody talking fast, efficiently and pure information! No ego showing, no empty chatting. Great content, thanks! Definitely a new subscriber.
Durability should be the same with nearly all Apple Watches, Series 3 and newer. That said, on the LAST day of filming B roll for my Series 4 review (the day before I published it), I dropped mine on a tile floor. Completely shattered the display. 🤦♂️ Had to go purchase another one that night to get the rest of my filming done. Whoops!
@@DesFit - indeed, I have a Deep-Blue Series 6 myself. & I’m very protective of it, so I bought a very nice case for it. Terrible how you had to buy another just for the review. I thought the “normal” aluminum versions have X-Ion glass to reduce shattering of the screen. I’ve always wanted the “top-tier” Stainless Steel versions with the Sapphire Crystal screen & DLC coated bodies. In any case I love the videos, & keep up the great work.
Great review, I was waiting for your review in order to make my final decision to upgrade from AW4. Couldn't wait so I got the AW6 a week ago, really enjoy it. And as you say, it's a worthy upgrade coming from the 4. Keep up the good reviews, thanks!
Thank you so much! I’m a sport nerd and I’ve been wanting to find a nerdy sports on Apple Watch series 6 for a while. I’m glad RUclips algorithm send your video to me! Just bought a product Red series 6 for $249! can’t wait to try it on and compare with my 6 years old Suunto Ambient 3 sport!
@@DesFit. Thanks for all your good reviews. I have tried it for two days. it would be a good watch for my wife since she doesn't care about activity numbers and just want a pretty watch. but I decide to get the Fenix 5 Plus after watching all your reviews. Amazon is selling them at 380 which is a super good deal. can't wait to try on the Fenix 5 Plus and get moving! Hopefully I can move to Denver some time!
realistically, how accurate are the fitness trackers in giving you data on REM, deep and light sleep? without polysomnography, what's the point of having all these numbers provided to you?
My favorite smart watch reviewer! I had watched almost all videos and decided to buy aw4 for heart rate accuracy. Now seems like it is worth to upgrade, many thanks
I am considering pairing my new iPhone SE 2020 with an Apple Watch Series 6 or an Apple Watch SE 2020. I'm just wondering if the Walking fitness app has a similar live steps-per-minute (SPM) cadence (pace) readout that my old Amazfit Pace fitness watch have. I use this feature to monitor my brisk walking pace if it matches with the beats-per-minute (BPM) music I listen to on my on-ear Bluetooth music player. I’ve been to several RUclips videos on Apple watch fitness app and I have not determined if it has this live SPM readout. All, however, have average cadence shown in strides in the fitness app summary after end of workout.
@@DesFit LOL!! I was always hoping Wear OS would come through, but it never did. It would be great if Apple could update their post workout fitness metrics, but maybe they will do that in a future software update.
They seem to have added more metrics over time, but it’s a slow go with them for some reason, like adding cadence (and making a big deal out of it) a few years back which is what other manufacturers had for years. I know they like to simplify things but people want more.
My in depth reviews take about 2-3 days to write, film, and edit. This is in addition to the time to actually test the device, so all in all? A lot of time! 😁 Thanks!
Love the per hour thing and scenario presentation. Easy to understand for me esp when paused. Hope the background doesnt interfere with words esp that light in the back vs plain background color when presenting data with voice over. Sometimes the white letters have white background so I cant see easily. New subscriber here. Love the attention to details.
Good review. Unfortunately I’ve never had my AW6 detect a workout. I don’t often forget to start a workout but when I have it hasn’t prompted me. What it does do, annoyingly, is detect when I’ve paused, often for a bathroom break, and requires that I hit a button to dismiss its suggestion that I’ve completed it. On a possibly unrelated note, it’s at close to 100% accuracy at detecting when I’m washing my hands.
That’s strange about the workout detection. The only time I had issues was when I wore my watch on the opposite wrist than what I had set up in the app.
Just upgraded to a Apple Watch 6. For navy blue 44mm used for $340 so I didn’t even hesitate. I’m upgrading from a 3 and the 3 go’s has been giving me issues on where the start begins. Sometime is picks up even .03 miles off which is far off When you are trying to break PRs.
I have a question. How to compare GPS tracking multiple devices on the same screen? Is there an app or a website for that? And how to export GPS data from apple watch? I'm using aw s5, and it doesn't track my route; it just shows my starting point on the map. What is the solution for that?
I changed from a Fitbit Versa 2 to Apple Watch 6 .. it’s an earth to moon comparison ..if you do your apps rights and stuff ..the Apple Watch can give you 3 days of battery life lol . Just get the Apple Watch if you’re still contemplating ..it’s so worth it .trust me !!!
Hey Des, have you done a video about how the Apple watch calculates its calories burnt in its move circle and compared it to other devices? I'd love to learn more about that especially if it comes from you!
Great in depth review! Really appreciate the attention to detail. Liked and subbed. From what I'm seeing the blood oxygen sensor can work better if you remove the watch and use it on your finger tip, much like a normal pulse ox. Possibly useful to have a pulse ox on us at all times during this covid pandemic/flu season for better outpatient monitoring.
I wonder if they will ever be able to handle a "Pure Pulse" like Fitbit that is always checking vs. the 15 min interval when not in Exercise Mode on the Apple.

Comparing heart rate sensor Apple watch 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy watch 3?
Apple Watch HR sensors are currently the best on the market. Samsung is on the other end of the scale (not great).
Nice video. Subscription for that!
Thanks!
I wonder if they will ever be able to handle a "Pure Pulse" like Fitbit that is always checking vs. the 15 min interval when not in Exercise Mode on the Apple.
Pretty sure Apple does the less frequent sampling to save on battery life, so unlikely I would say without taking a huge hit on power.
You speak so fluently
Question, do you need to have a blue tooth sensor on the bike in order for Apple Watch to track speed, distance, etc.
I'm still curious to hear someone speak of how it would do for example tracking steps for tennis?
Once again another excellent review with lots of detail and specially the forth coming SE review (looking forward to) as a reference point.
Thanks!! Yup, coming up soon!
