I’m legit impressed with how thorough you were in this review. Thanks so much for all your hard work!
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
Almost every other "review" is just someone reading the spec sheet and showing off the watch.
Thank God for Des!
Thanks so much!!
Exactly ... Nobody tests the functionality in terms of fitness...
the reviews usually is: "I can read my Imessages 10/10"
This is awesome
Is it good enough for triathlon?
@@TIM123451ERR That depends for sure, but here's my opinion: in my training it has been great, but for races I probably would find something else that is more suited for multisport that I would race with! I'm a Suunto fan but there are tons of options :)
finnaly the review from expert sports come
👍
@@DesFit loo lol pop pop pop so to be chop
This is the most comprehensive review I’ve seen. Much better than the normal hype folks. Would love to see one for Series 6.
Yup, it’s coming! Along with the SE! Thanks a bunch!
This is easily the best Apple Watch review, much better than people who just read the spec sheet and read off all the new features
Thanks a bunch!
Where to get one? Thanks man!
This guy is really likeable and really good at what he does. Great job!
Thanks a bunch!
This is the best review I've seen for a smart watch. Just got my Series 5 Apple Watch yesterday to help me on my fitness journey and this helps me understand some things better. Happily subbed now. Eager to see your other reviews.
Thanks a bunch! Good luck on your journey!
Are you enjoying the watch is it good for running and hills ?
Had to give my mans a like because he made charts and all lol. I know this took time lol
Thanks a bunch!!
Impeccable in-depth review, the analysis is mind-blowing and greatly appreciated!
Glad it helped. Thanks!
I blamed my watch, 12 years ago, & found out I had A-fib, not a cheap watch! Been doing what I’m supposed to, 73, & still breathing, but not significantly more. Bought the 5 cellular for falling down notifications! Getting Old is not for the faint of heart ❤️! Still checking! Good video!👍🏻
That’s a good idea, if the heart rate is elevated turn on “always on display“ if not, turn off always on display.
By far the best review without any bias one way or the other. I’ve had my Series 5 for the last 4 months and love it, but I’m coming from a Series 1. Wish I had watched this prior, but still very happy with the purchase overall.
The HR accuracy has improved over time with firmware updates. You’ve made a good purchase. Thanks!
I just wanted to say that it seems they have fixed the HR issue. My HR readings seem pretty stable and way better than my Fenix 6.
impeccable comparison. you really spent time for this
Thanks!
I have been having some of the HR issues you describe on my Series 4. Cleaning the back of the watch before a workout helps a lot. Also seems to vary from software update to software update.
I am blown away by how thorough and detailed the review is. This review helps me tremendously understand insightful information about Apple Watch Series 5. Thank you very much!
Glad it helped. Thanks!
cant imagine when you get data from all these fitness trackers it must have covered half of your arm wearing them all. kudos to a well made indepth comprehensive review.
I only wear one watch per wrist. When you have more than one watch per wrist it can affect both HR and sometimes GPS. While running, I’ll carry the other watches in my hand and have them paired to external HR sensors as reference devices. Then while cycling, I’ll either mount them to the handlebars or have them attached to backpack straps or something along those lines.
I like how you actually went throughly to all the tests and explained everything in detail. This is what I’m looking for and am glad that I found this video. Thank you for all your hard work! Cheers 🍻
Glad it helped. Thanks!!
OMG BROOO you are the best. These reviews are actual REVIEWS. Not just reading specs.
Thanks!
indeed
I turned off the "trun wrist to wake" feature and added about 20% battery life to my day. on a 12 hour work shift I would be down to about 45-50% when I had it set to wake and 70-75% when I turned it off. I can still see the time and everything.
You can watch fitness while wearing a fitness watch, which I find is the most important feature a fitness watch features.
Best reviewer of fitness wearables. Great job 👏
Thanks!!
Best review I've seen on this so far.
Thanks!
One of the best reviews out there
Thanks a bunch!!
Wow! I’m very impressed with your review. This is what I call a review
Thanks!
Just the review that I needed, thanks for putting so much time and effort into this review!
Sure thing. Glad it helped!
10:18 That running guy animation cracks me up.
Patiently waiting in the galaxy active 2 review 😊
Soon!!
@@DesFit 😰
Very good review! However, I do believe you’re using the grey strap the other way around.
Fantastic serious and detailed work.
Thanks so much!
Great review, thanks! 8 months later, is there any explanation for the inconsistencies in the series 5 heart rate monitor and GPS?
Totally off tonic...but I really love your lamp! (I just ordered my series 5) can’t wait..
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it.
Incredible analysis, this is the best video for apple watch content so far
Thanks!
Fantastic review. Thank you for being so thorough
Sure thing. Thanks!
Any thoughts on best watch for running cycling of the most important data points (in order) are:
-Heart Rate
-GPS
-Calories
-sleep Tracking
Thanks in advance.
CinicThink the Garmin for sure! I like the Vivoactive 4!
New subscriber! Appreciate how in-depth your review is. I love all the graphs.
Thanks so much!
This is incredibly thorough thank you! Looking to get a wearable and this video helped a lot
Glad it helped. Thanks!
I always check your reviews before I go buy. Thanks for the great work!
Awesome. Thanks so much!
Really liked your work!
Please make video on Samsung Galaxy watch OG vs Galaxy watch 3 !!
Hi, curious to hear what results are after the latest update. Have you re-done any of these tests to see if the software update helped?
Tory Grey I believe they are saying the update solved the problem on another video.
J. Claudio J. Landeros what video? If the HR sensor is not having issues like in this video anymore then I’m all in on the 5
@@eric3007 itwasavideo showcasing all of the smartwatches of 2019.
Amazing review bro!
***Practical and realistic***
I noticed the same thing about heart rate on AW5. Just sold it and went back to Vivoactive 3.
I'd love for you to give a small update to see if the software updates over the past half a year improved to the accuracy of the Series 5. I just got one and I'm very interested in using it for fitness, but this left a sour taste in my mouth. Please continue your videos with the in-depth points. Absolutely amazing man!
It was just slightly less accurate than the Series 4 during my testing, but it's still quite decent compared to the rest of the selection on the market. I have not yet had a chance to retest due to being busy with other devices, but I still highly recommend the Series 5. Thanks!
@@DesFit Thank you so much for replying!! I love how connected you are to your subscribers. You've definitely earned a sub from me : ). Keep it up!!
Thanks!
I knew it. Upgraded from 4 to 5 and have thought it was less stable. May go back to the 4. I can now get a 4 and an Instinct for close for what I can sell 5 for.
Could you compare Garmin Venu vs Apple Watch? It would be great to see it!
Can you please review the Whoop band - thanks.
For smartwatch review I always come back to your site to get the most accurate review🙌🏼
Thanks!
Apple is probably trying to save battery for the always-on display, hecne the less accurate GPS and heart rate. Would be interesting to know if the accuracy increases when the always on display is disabled. You would need to have two Apple Watch 5 for that test though to compare them directly.
Hit like, but I would like ,..if you can, to review the app beachbody on that watch., programmes like lift4 for example...thanks.
Great review. I wonder if there's been a software update to resolve some of those issues
You do awesome work! Thanks so much for your dedication and full varied activity reviews! It's nice having a real athlete that likes tech doing sports fitness reviews instead of tech nerds that fake fitness lol. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!!
Hey man, thank you for all the hard work making this video! I'm pretty shocked that series 5 has these HR inconsistencies. I have both aluminum and stainless steel models, trying to decide which one to keep
I'll always support your channel.... Thank you for hard work to get every single video up
Thanks!
Great video. Just wondering why I see the crown facing backwards? Isn't it supposed to face the hand so it's on the upper right corner when viewed??
You can have the crown which ever direction you'd like. This is the way I prefer it :) Thanks!
Love the review I just got a series 5 coming from a series 1 so needed in-depth review of how well the fitness tracking is
Ya it’s pretty darn good. It will be a great upgrade!
DesFit thank you I will be subscribing and watching your content great stuff man and thanks a lot for the reply and recommendation I wanted to wait for the series 6 but I felt it was time
Sure thing! Thanks a bunch!
Interesting... I wonder about software tweets coming?
Wow! This is a very good review, good job!
Thanks!!
How do you protect your apple watch from drops? Does it easily break if you drop it or bang it against things?
kudos for such an in depth review and all the effort put into it
Sure thing! Glad it helped!
Really well explained. I appreciate the time and effort you put in.
Thanks! Glad it helped!
WOW! Thank you for this detailed review!
Sure thing!
I'm really beginning to want the Series 5. I had a few series 1 & 2's but gave up on them when I started running more seriously and have used Garmin since. I have the Fenix 5 Plus just now and have no complaints other than wanting some more smart features again. I don't mind daily charging but losing GPS accuracy would be a big deal for me as I run A LOT.
Always putting out solid videos, very informative and enjoyable to watch.
Thanks!!
This greatly influenced my decision to go with the Series 5, thank you!
Sure thing. Thanks!
Excellent in depth comparison between the series 4 and series 5 in regards to health tracking. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks!
Hi, just a question. How long does the series 5 take to lock onto GPS signal once you start an outdoor run?. My Samsung Gear Fit 2 pro takes about 2-3 mins once you start an outdoor walk/run to acquire GPS lock until which time distance and speed is calculated by the number of steps I take.
Hopefully you can report your results to and they can refine the watch firmware to improve these results.
Is that possible you kind re-make/revisit this review again with the latest Watch OS software update?
LOOOVED THE review!! Now as someone who tried all sport trackers out there.. if i ask you which one is the most accurate one, that is easy to use, shows calories burnt and steps (no need for messages, music and stuff) and that is esthetically nice to wear for a small wrist😂😂😊😊😊 and waterproof as well
Perhaps a silly question: would the Apple watch (any of them) be a good fit for someone who doesn't do a lot sports or other outdoors and has no use for those many apps?
Think Tom Ford-like: he sure is a busy man, but has his Apple watch attached onto a chain and uses it (or does he?) as a pocket watch almost...
Not quite like that, but very close.
Can you use the apple watch for hiking without having to take the iphone. Are there apps out there that you can rely on with GPS, ones that show up a map on your watch. thanks
Great video, very in-depth! This should have zero dislikes!!! I wish they had a watch like apple/whoop
Your English is very good!
Fantastic analysis 👍🏽
Thanks!
Awesome video! Helped me find new things to use on my series 5. Thanks, man!!
Glad it helped!
How about Apple SE, is it a good running watch? thanks
More details on that later today or tomorrow! 👍
DesFit Thanks, looking forward to it..
Awesome review! Curious to know if software update has fixed most of these inconsistencies in July 2020.
awesome review. thank you! would love to see a review of the Whoop strap 3.0
Been on Garmin Fenix series from day one, and they just works very solid for training. (exp. for few times when update fail and they fix it on next.)
But for a "SmartWatch" i think apple watch is Nr1 by far...and for "easy" training that most folks do it is solid.
Des, I realize some delays and fails on HRM on series 4 after I updated to watchOS 6, and some other issues too
Very great Review it is very helpful
Glad it helped!
Hi ,are Garmin better than Apple Watch, thanks
Good review Des, thanks. Ended up going with the series 5 watch.
Nice! Enjoy!
incredible video, so in-depth and detailed. I recently upgraded to the series 5 and never take it off. the always on feature is a plus. many thanks for your sports expertize with the watch which is the main reason for my initial purchase. Will continue to watch and like your videos
Chis james it completely changed my wearing habits. I honestly wear my watch 20x more than my Series 3.
Thanks a bunch and thanks for tuning in!
This was super helpful! Thanks for putting it together!
Sure thing!
Did you make sure you had the exact same band for each watch during the heartrate test? That could’ve been the cause for the spikes in heartrate. You should also make sure that it is on just as tightly as the Series 4!
Amazing review
Thanks!
Question. First off thanks for this awesome review. With all of the variances in the AW5 to the 4, do you think it makes a drastic difference in calorie counting for the workout as a whole. A few seconds off hear and there? Just got the 5 mainly for the HR and workouts. Kinda bummed :( 4 is discontinued almost everywhere
10/10 review
Thanks!
love your videos, im waiting for the apple watch series 6 thats hopefully coming later this year. Still have my 3
Thanks!
The battery life on the upcoming release that is now in beta, improves the battery life with the always on display, a LOT. It's not quite as good as the series 4 without AOD, but it's much much closer
All my figures were after 6.0.1 update so I’m eager to see what’s next!
@@DesFit hi Des, any chance you'll check back on the Series 5's accuracy after an OS update or two? I wonder if it's a software issue.
@@lostinactionable Or a hardware issue with with Des' device?
So, 10 months after, was it a bug in software or hardware? Has it been fixed? I looking forward to buying series 6, and heart rate is quite important to me while running and swimming. Exercises as well, but not as much.
Thank you so much for the great analysis. Love your reviews!
Thanks!
Nice review. Just wondering if it would recognize biking on a bike roller.
I was expecting the fenix 6 review. Anyway great review on the apple watch. It seems the series 4 is still a pretty darn good watch. For those looking to grab an apple watch, the series 4 is still the best bet of the lot if you into fitness.
I’d have to agree. Fenix 6 is still a couple weeks away. I’ve got lots of devices in the backlog unfortunately 😬
Great review thanks! The sport loop color is Anchor Gray?
If you're doing the Series 6, could you please test the HR monitor with reference to lifting weights? The fitbit ionic is the only smart watch that is accurate for that (that i've noticed), thanks alot!
Yup, already in the works! Thanks!
Really good video.
Thanks!
What a brilliant review, thank you for this.
Thanks!
