I blamed my watch, 12 years ago, & found out I had A-fib, not a cheap watch! Been doing what I’m supposed to, 73, & still breathing, but not significantly more. Bought the 5 cellular for falling down notifications! Getting Old is not for the faint of heart ❤️! Still checking! Good video!👍🏻

I only wear one watch per wrist. When you have more than one watch per wrist it can affect both HR and sometimes GPS. While running, I’ll carry the other watches in my hand and have them paired to external HR sensors as reference devices. Then while cycling, I’ll either mount them to the handlebars or have them attached to backpack straps or something along those lines.

Apple is probably trying to save battery for the always-on display, hecne the less accurate GPS and heart rate. Would be interesting to know if the accuracy increases when the always on display is disabled. You would need to have two Apple Watch 5 for that test though to compare them directly.

Perhaps a silly question: would the Apple watch (any of them) be a good fit for someone who doesn't do a lot sports or other outdoors and has no use for those many apps?
Think Tom Ford-like: he sure is a busy man, but has his Apple watch attached onto a chain and uses it (or does he?) as a pocket watch almost...
Not quite like that, but very close.

Question. First off thanks for this awesome review. With all of the variances in the AW5 to the 4, do you think it makes a drastic difference in calorie counting for the workout as a whole. A few seconds off hear and there? Just got the 5 mainly for the HR and workouts. Kinda bummed :( 4 is discontinued almost everywhere

The battery life on the upcoming release that is now in beta, improves the battery life with the always on display, a LOT. It's not quite as good as the series 4 without AOD, but it's much much closer

All my figures were after 6.0.1 update so I’m eager to see what’s next!

@@DesFit hi Des, any chance you'll check back on the Series 5's accuracy after an OS update or two? I wonder if it's a software issue.

@@lostinactionable Or a hardware issue with with Des' device?

So, 10 months after, was it a bug in software or hardware? Has it been fixed? I looking forward to buying series 6, and heart rate is quite important to me while running and swimming. Exercises as well, but not as much.

Nice review. Just wondering if it would recognize biking on a bike roller.

I was expecting the fenix 6 review. Anyway great review on the apple watch. It seems the series 4 is still a pretty darn good watch. For those looking to grab an apple watch, the series 4 is still the best bet of the lot if you into fitness.

I’d have to agree. Fenix 6 is still a couple weeks away. I’ve got lots of devices in the backlog unfortunately 😬

If you're doing the Series 6, could you please test the HR monitor with reference to lifting weights? The fitbit ionic is the only smart watch that is accurate for that (that i've noticed), thanks alot!
