As you can see, you guys don't need ''classic'' 5000$ analog synths to compose great songs! :) Melodies & creativity >>> gear Also it's sad that I had to ''destroy'' Ich Tu Dir Weh's sound, but RUclips wouldn't let me post it otherwise.🤷♂ And sorry to my German subscribers, my German is not quite there haha... hahaha
As a keyboard player in a Rammstein tribute band I really appreciate these style of videos. I also love to search for all the original sample sources and that kind of stuff. Always wanted to make such videos by myself, your video really motivates me to make it finally happen 💪🏼🎹
_Musically, I think these synthesizers hold a special place in songwriting and obtaining your own unique sound. 🎥🎶 I’ve often tried blending in cheesy sounds but the compression on RUclips makes the volume jump too much on it while I add it as a background noise. 🏆🎵 I’m glad you’re still pumping these industrial videos out! I definitely would love to see a tutorial for the beat making part of it._
1:16 Funny, I haven't noticed it before, but the first five notes here are exactly the same as an old Russian song "Подмосковные Вечера", known also as "Moscow Nights" for english speakers. Considering the DDR past of the band members, that's probably not a coincidence
haha dude! I just listened to it and you're right. Rammstein often do that type of things where they get inspirations from other stuff and make it their own. Like you said, probably not a coincidence!
Funny how, given seemingly scarce use of synths in most Rammstein songs I've always thought Rammstein mainly used some traditional stage synths like Nord Stage, or Triton, or some Roland workstation with presets. It really shows Flake's and others dedication to embed different synthesiser sounds like this - sometimes in an unorthodox way like that choir. Even microKorg presets are less distinguishable when you hear Till and guitars mixed with them. Thanks for the research and keep up the good work!
yeah I think they deserve much more credits for their synth/sample work. Their early work has a lot of samples in it, the melodies are just next level and the research/choice of sound is perfect. Sometimes when a band gets bigger people tend to associate that with "easy" song writing which, I think, is the complete oposite.
Appreciate you mentioned their use of the #casiotone mt-65! I had only found the festival footage i need to watch the other video. Lots of dungeon synth artists using casios as well. Would be great if you did a video on that also. 🙏
@@Tonepusher Oh, it was! Especially when you see (and feel!!) these massive flame throwers for the first time, and from very close!! 🔥🔥🔥😀🎸. Great video of yours, by the way!! 👍👍
If you're talking about the song. Well it's a mix of multiple things but mainly, ES1 for the Theremin sound, Absynth 5 for the bird/sea sample at the beginning and also the string brass and the fuzzy guitar sound. That would be the main things.
Shame on youuu!! haha joking ;) yeah man the microKORG is legendary tbh. I don't own one, but I'll eventually buy one just because it's so iconic haha So many cool presets.
@@vladv5126 loll well they did use a lot of Omnisphere in recent years, however the majority of their iconic albums were made mostly with samples. I think Christian Lorenz deserve much more credit for his work.
@ well for starters, what is an “obscure synth” - I would expect prototype of a soviet mono or smt like that (and I do not mean Polivoks). Casio is far from obscure no?
@@earlsfield true, we probably all have a different view on what is an ''obscure'' synth. There's always something more obscure to find lol I mean for me a Casiotone mt-65, Sculpture or Roland VR-760 are very very odd choices especially for a metal band. But I guess like I said we all have different views depending on our backgrounds.
@ well, true. I have been dealing with electronic music and synths for the last 35 years. VR doesn’t surprise me at all. Nor does Casiotone. See, I used to live in Southern Europe before moving to Uk decades ago - but I remember that we, just like Eastern Germans, did not have so many brands to play with - Casio and Yamaha “arrangers” and stuff like casiotone was available on commission Sales.

Great video man! Flake is so underrated..always love diving into a synth rabbit hole with Rammstein
100% Flake is as important to Rammstein as Ringo was to the Beatles 🤘🏻 hehe I looove his work
Amazing and very insightful postings! I am totally addicted - thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
haha np!! I had a lot of fun making this one 😁🤘🏻

Very interesting, thanks! According to various other videos, Flake also used Ensoniq snyths and a Nord Stage.
true, the ASR-10 is probably his most used synth

haha true! I love dungeon synth 👌🏻 I was listening to Burzum's synth albums before it was cool 😂
Been there, in Luzern 2016! 🤘My first Rammstein concert, finally. And I had muddy feet afterwards... 😀😀

@@Tonepusher pretty cool stuff ;) keep it up
As a die hard fan of both i do not know why i never asked myself this exact question before ?
I would play on thisa thing at G,C and it was always fun
I was so happy to hear the Microkorg had the feuer frei patch
haha the microKORG has soooo many iconic presets, in many many genre
Can u help me?? wich synths do the key board player from Rammstein uses in the song reise reise
If you're talking about the song. Well it's a mix of multiple things but mainly, ES1 for the Theremin sound, Absynth 5 for the bird/sea sample at the beginning and also the string brass and the fuzzy guitar sound. That would be the main things.
@Tonepusher sorry men but i talk the song Mein Teil.... sorry
Id buy that vr 760 synth just for that real choir preset, sounds 👌
ngl I thought the exact same thing while making the video haha
Now I want to listen to Rosenrot.
loll I know right? while making this video I fell right back into the Rammstein rabbit hole and it felt gooood haha
Alles ok, ich verstehe Dein Deutsch ziemlich gut. 😁😎
haha damn! I wish it was better though lol (thanks to google translate for that one) haha
Brilliant video again!
heyy thanks dude :) grew up listening to Rammstein. That video was on the list for a long time haha
@@Tonepusher well it's a great tribute!
Your german pronounciations are actually pretty alright, don't be shy about it :)
haha thanksss!! 🙏 I still wish it was better lol
What is the synth used for the so famous sound at the begining of Feuer Frei ?
If you're talking about the ''sinewave'' sound at the beginning it's an Access Virus A
@@Tonepusher thank RUclips. And what about the begining of Ich Will
@@frankcisde2338 it's the exact same sound! hehe so Virus A again !
what about Polivox?
You're right, they used it live with MM. But I talked about it in another video so I just wanted to bring new synths.
microKORG is massive - Mine is sitting under my bed.... Use a sample pack of it at this point. lols.

haha thanks man! did my best 😬
I'd love to know the gear DEATHSTARS use...
I think it's mostly vsts. Assuming you mean the synths. Guitar-wise it's Gibson Les Pauls into Mesa Dual Rectifiers.
hey!! yeah it's mostly VSTs. I'm not sure 100% what they use but I could message some of my contacts 🤓
@@Tonepusher that would be great!
I love your German :)
haha thanks man, ngl I was scared posting it, I love German language and I didn't want to ''destroy'' it haha
Casio = Da Da Da from the German Band Called Trio😂
hahaha!! yeah man, that's a classic
What about DU HAST
well Du Hast would be mostly samples, CDs for the ASR-10 If I remember right 🤔
Obscure synths *Shows Microkorg*
lol I was actually waiting for that comment 😁 haha Well you're right microkorg is not an obscure synth BUT for a metal band it's a pretty odd choice.
Rhubarb Barbara Bar Barbarians
Ух, спасибо, позновательно!!
Hey no problem, I had fun making it. I grew up listening to Rammstein :) Thanks for commenting!!
And what about Omnisphere?
Sure, they used Omnisphere a lot, but this video was focusing on often overlooked synths that they used :)
That's the other 99% of their sounds.

Click bait! None of the synths are rare or "weird"
Well, let me know if you notice another industrial band using a Casiotone MT-65. I'll wait here :)
