For those of you wanting power right out of the box the 3.8 has a nice leaniear pull. The 2.0 is underwhelming but with a 500-700$ tune it will have much more power then the 3.8 .. I plan on doing an na build on my car and if you have the patience you can easily go from 348-370 crank HP
Couldn't have said it better myself! Thats my plan as well, keeping my car NA for as long as possible and doing every little thing I can until theres nothing left but to either turbo or LS swap
@Noah Craig The Rspecs aren’t mechanically really any different than any of the other models. The only thing they really added to them to make them sportier is they put those brembo’s on it. They also put a more track oriented limited slip differential on them to handle curves better. Other than that besides the rear spoiler they aren’t any different from the other models. So to get a decent amount of hp you’re gonna need mods as well as a tune. A tune alone isn’t going to add much at all. If your car is stock the best and easiest things you want to do to add hp is to upgrade your exhaust first, your air intake, throttle body, fuel injectors, spark plugs. Then go in for a tune. After those mods you’ll be getting atleast close to 350 ish hp.
My 2013 bk2 auto dynoed at 337 hp and almost 300 tq with straight pipe, secondary test pipes, stock headers, sfr tune, manifold riser, cold air intake, and several intake supporting mods.
Terrance had the best Genesis Coupe and it was a 3.8. The red one. It was close to 600whp around 22 psi. I have seen videos of it. I have a 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8

Sfr sucks is all about alpha speed like me fbo e85 ported manifolds. Plus for the manuals you can upgrade you differential ratio and not stay with the slow 3.5 gears 3.8 ftw
Easy Extra power on the cheap for 3.8 Genny 3p8p cold air intake (BK2 GDI ) AEM cold air intake (BK1 MPI RS) 3p8p Manifold Riser Manifold and TB port n polish (plus heat shielding) And if you don’t care about the noise, remove backseats and spare tire (35kg thats a lot )
I was going to get the 3p8p intake but you have to delete the washer fluid reservoir and it does not come with a relocation kit nor are there any for sale. However I did not know about the manifold riser and TB port and polish will definitely have to look into those. Do they add pretty nice power gains? Edit: May actually remove the backseats and spare at some point because your right that it a pretty good amount of weight saved!

After months of looking at information for the Genesis coupe and another car I’m not sure. Like I want to turbo my car but I don’t want to worry about blowing up the engine. Also the carbon buildup is a problem, the paint is a problem, and a few minor things is something. I’m not a fan of the 4 cylinder turbo gen, but I like the looks of the Genesis coupe outside. For me it’s either the Genesis coupe or the 2017 Honda Accord coupe v6
Im right there with you man the turbo genesis dont sound near as sick as the 3.8s but if making the car fast is your main priority then its definitely the way to go because you can almost just tune them to be as fast as a 3.8. But honestly man between the 2017 accord coupe and the genesis coupe id pick the genesis any day over the accord simply because the genesis (at least where I live) are pretty rare honestly and are just really unique but dont get me wrong the new accord coupes look super clean as well!

Another mod that will pick up gains but is kinda obvious: Wheels. The OEM wheels that are on these cars are heavy as hell. Pick up some super lightweight wheels like Enkei's and you will be shocked.
I definitely plan to get wheels in the future, I recently plasti dipped mine and after I take that off after winter im either going to paint the oems or get whole new ones. Will have to check out the Enkeis for sure!

Nitrous, 4.18:1 2nd gen automatic gears or complete diff . Many things can be done . I am shorttrack on the Gencoupe.com forum .I am on the GDI nitrous thread with pics on pg 16 .

The cold air intake makes your turbo 100x louder and the throttle controller really does make you feel like you are in 1st gear every gear i have the amerlilite eagle eye tailights and those look hella cool but other than that she runs good just has a little blow by
Don’t LS swap you’ll kill its soul. many people managed to get amazing number with their 3.8 GDI like Micheal Panici (436WHP) and other. Go with SC or turbo kit if you really thinking about that. And yeah I hope Hyundai give us a new Coupe with G70/Stinger engine
It was 463whp and 490wtq. Dustin and I hosted that alphaspeed tuning event. He runs 13 psi with direct port meth injection on stock internals. Impressive car.
ISR cat-back isn't a straight pipe, at all. All it does is remove the muffler. it's a CAT-back, meaning catalytic converter(s) back. Straight pipe in case of a 3.8 would be test pipes + cat-back and possibly headers , and for 2.0t O2 housing, downpipe and cat-back. I know you mentioned test pipes but this is crucial if you want a tune, you NEED to remove cat(s), muffler/resonator doesn't really matter. But a cat-back by itself is NOT a straight pipe, and doesn't remove secondary cats or anything like you mentioned
Yeah with the 2.0T you have a turbo, but the 3.8 doesn't! With the 2.0T you just need to upgrade the turbo to a bigger turbo while on the 3.8 you need to add a turbo

2.0t is way better option for getting power out of the platform. thery donty have much for 3.8 because its higher compression so u cant really turbo them with out a lot of money and since its a 3.8 they just never really made much for hp mods

Pedro Perez I think the issue with stroker kit (making it 4.2) will not help with daily driving since iirc it’s racing kit. Supercharger or the Turbo kits are safer options and you can daily your Genny

I've got a 2015 BK2 3.8 and I did a lot of research before I bought it. No way would I get the 2.0T. Doesn't make sense. The bk2 3.8 already makes 348hp stock, a 100 more than the turbo 4 banger. You keep trying to increase the turbo output and put more and more mods on the engine, you're going to stress all those internal components on that little thing. And when you do a custom tune on any engine, keep in mind what effect your going to have on your transmission and the driveline as a whole. Will you have to upgrade any of that? Depends. The 3.8 is an excellent stock engine. Hyundai did a great job with it. I heard they're going to offer the coupe again for 2021 or 2022. But who knows for sure until they come out with an official press release.
Tommy Mueller should have gotten the 2.0t you don’t have to upgrade non of the things you’ve listed about the trans and all that it will hold as long as you don’t make stupid power, to be beat a 3.8 with a 2.0t simple bolts ons tune and it’s bye bye 😂 you should have researched better
@@enmanuel7388 Man, I'm happy with my purchase; I got that 5 year old Genesis for slightly under book value with 18,000 miles. I bought it at the dealership the one owner originally bought it at and all maintenance was performed there as well. The car looked and smelled like it just came off the production line. All original. There was plastic wrap on some stuff that came with the car that had never been opened or used. Nobody messed around trying to make it a Fast and Furious car. It was by far the best one available out of the 38 for sale in Arizona at the time. That's part of what I meant by 'research'. Now, my original post, I hadn't read about those issues specifically with Genesis Coupes, but with some Audi's and BMW's I had seen guys turbocharge or supercharge and tune the car when those residual problems occurred. I meant it more of a 'stop and think before doing'. You don't want to make a $5,000 upgrade and then have to spend another $5,000 or more in repairs. Now, I'm definitely no expert; just a weekend warrior like most people watching these videos. You do you man. If you've got the money for the the upgrades as well as for any potential damages, go ahead. Hell, I've never owned a rice burner before; my other toy is a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Much different to work on. My own personal experience, I hardly get things right the 1st time, it usually takes me 2 or 3 attempts to get things perfect. I like doing stuff myself, but, I usually expect things to cost 3X what it should and what should take a couple of hours usually takes me an entire weekend. Anyway, if you want a 4banger, go for it. Make yourself happy.

Some of the people who owned these cars and either A, LS swapped or 2J swapped or just flat out sold them are weak sauce. Yeah I mean engine swapping dope. But it's so fucking common. My plans for my car is rebuild the engine with billet long block on GDi motor never been done. (That I know of) Yeah it cost 20K but it be better then swapping it. The community for Gens buy them and sell them for Wrx like..... lol arent car guys they fucking RUclips views seekers. These car have crazy potential, just the owners dont want to drop the money on them.

Front bumper of both bk1 and bk2 is the ugliest I've ever seen. I'll be switching to ARK S-FX LEGATO front bumper as soon as I get my hands on it.

There's not much you can do to an NA car unless you add a turbo and that's expensive.

Pedro Perez I think the issue with stroker kit (making it 4.2) will not help with daily driving since iirc it’s racing kit. Supercharger or the Turbo kits are safer options and you can daily your Genny

I've got a 2015 BK2 3.8 and I did a lot of research before I bought it. No way would I get the 2.0T. Doesn't make sense. The bk2 3.8 already makes 348hp stock, a 100 more than the turbo 4 banger. You keep trying to increase the turbo output and put more and more mods on the engine, you're going to stress all those internal components on that little thing. And when you do a custom tune on any engine, keep in mind what effect your going to have on your transmission and the driveline as a whole. Will you have to upgrade any of that? Depends. The 3.8 is an excellent stock engine. Hyundai did a great job with it. I heard they're going to offer the coupe again for 2021 or 2022. But who knows for sure until they come out with an official press release.
Tommy Mueller should have gotten the 2.0t you don’t have to upgrade non of the things you’ve listed about the trans and all that it will hold as long as you don’t make stupid power, to be beat a 3.8 with a 2.0t simple bolts ons tune and it’s bye bye 😂 you should have researched better
@@enmanuel7388 Man, I'm happy with my purchase; I got that 5 year old Genesis for slightly under book value with 18,000 miles. I bought it at the dealership the one owner originally bought it at and all maintenance was performed there as well. The car looked and smelled like it just came off the production line. All original. There was plastic wrap on some stuff that came with the car that had never been opened or used. Nobody messed around trying to make it a Fast and Furious car. It was by far the best one available out of the 38 for sale in Arizona at the time. That's part of what I meant by 'research'. Now, my original post, I hadn't read about those issues specifically with Genesis Coupes, but with some Audi's and BMW's I had seen guys turbocharge or supercharge and tune the car when those residual problems occurred. I meant it more of a 'stop and think before doing'. You don't want to make a $5,000 upgrade and then have to spend another $5,000 or more in repairs. Now, I'm definitely no expert; just a weekend warrior like most people watching these videos. You do you man. If you've got the money for the the upgrades as well as for any potential damages, go ahead. Hell, I've never owned a rice burner before; my other toy is a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Much different to work on. My own personal experience, I hardly get things right the 1st time, it usually takes me 2 or 3 attempts to get things perfect. I like doing stuff myself, but, I usually expect things to cost 3X what it should and what should take a couple of hours usually takes me an entire weekend. Anyway, if you want a 4banger, go for it. Make yourself happy.

So is there anyway to change the sound the 3.8 makes when the torque blows off? Because mine makes a weird sound.
The turbo upgrade at 6-8psi brings you up to est. 500 crank. Not 550 lol. I wish.

The 3.8 holds way more value also go look at a 2013 2.0 and a 3.8 the 3.8 are between 4 and 5 grand more expensive.

@@GenesisCoupeHUB Just run fully synthetic oil change your oil every 5000 miles Chevron gas treatment every 3000 miles or every oil change and you should be fine change your spark plugs every 50.000 miles that also helps

I just got my 3.8 for 6.5k and it has a intake tune headers straight pipe and soon to be turbo kit after internals are done and im trying to get around 500 whp

Some of the people who owned these cars and either A, LS swapped or 2J swapped or just flat out sold them are weak sauce. Yeah I mean engine swapping dope. But it's so fucking common. My plans for my car is rebuild the engine with billet long block on GDi motor never been done. (That I know of) Yeah it cost 20K but it be better then swapping it. The community for Gens buy them and sell them for Wrx like..... lol arent car guys they fucking RUclips views seekers. These car have crazy potential, just the owners dont want to drop the money on them.

@@theerealbk9140 That's my only issue, there are no dealers anywhere near me unfortunately so getting the custom dyno tune would be somewhat hard but might just try to order one of them from 3point8performance
