I had moments like that before. When players do something I absolutely didn't expect and become so memorable. It's like they come up with a crazy idea and now I'm invested to see what happens.
This was honestly one of the most badass scenes of the campaign and seeing it come to life was amazing and the fact that Travis got to be the one of finish the big bad in this arc was so satisfying the dice love to tell their story
IIRC, Matt even said later that Grog getting the killing blow was basically the ONLY way that it would have actually ended the fight. Anything else, and the rest of the Herd would have simply kept fighting, and probably end in a TPK.
I was so happy for them when I saw the nat 20 and how you want to do this and when I saw the animated series I was ecstatic that they did a perfect recreation.
This was what I was looking forward to through the whole season. The only way it could have been better imo is if we actually saw the axe cut through Kevdak, but I get there may be reasons they didn’t go that route. Excited for season 3!
@@StyxxxxRiverI think @unicornburger16 means that we don’t specifically see the axe going through Kevdak, just the immediate aftermath. I like the way they did it, though; it had more dramatic tension, with everyone pausing the fight to see who was still standing when the dust cleared.
At this moment I've forget for long time the fact I was watching a real dnd party game because what I've watch was so fucking epic. Remembering this fact just got me chils, its so badass
I did something very similar this very night. After my entire team was felled by a very powerful yuntai, I used the falling body of one of my comrads to do a leap attack. I was duel welding a long sword and short sword both magic. I got two nat 20s . The long sword pierced the mouth and my short sword cleaved head from shoulders. That was after I decapitated her twin brother and kicked his head in her direction 😂
not gonna lie Im.... curious how that whole sequence of events would have gone if it had not been reckless and just a natural 1. Because I'm thinking a Wile E Coyote crater as Kevdak just sidestepped him.

It’s not a perfect one to one, but broadly speaking, yes, that’s where the story comes from. In particular, a lot of the most memorable, hard hitting lines are lifted word for word from the game. (Prime example: “You’re the face I saw when murder entered my heart.)
