I disagree on a couple of different reasons.1 if she would have played along and not lost her job she could literally be taking credit for everything good going on with African American record low unemployment and would go down in history as a great leader by doing literally nothing really.2 she's going to get sued and probably lose most of the money she makes off this book due to the disclosure agreement that she signed. How is it an insult to call a black person articulate? We have to stop being so easily offended. I'm a black woman, and people often tell me how articulate I am. It's a great compliment! I don't care what ethnicity the person is who tells me that.
Most black people do not speak proper English, and it's difficult to understand what they're saying. Hard-core ebonics does not land someone a position as a Communications Director, which is the position Omarosa previously held.
It really is an insult if you think about it. How many times have you heard a white woman referred to as being articulate? I recently was working at a summer camp at my job and my son attended (he does every year). One of the volunteers made a comment about my son being articulate and she did not know he was my son. You have to know the area I work in and the children to know what she meant. I told her that he was articulate but only because he was in fact very smart and intelligent and I teach my children to speak correct English.
Cynthia Johnson--I've heard many white people being referenced as articulate. When someone says a white person is articulate, it means that they properly enunciate their words. When someone says a black person is articulate, it means that they speak properly English and it's easier to understand them, as opposed to blacks who don't speak proper English.
Articulate=I can actually understand what you're saying, because you speak clearly. You should be very proud that your son knows how to speak proper English, as opposed to being offended. Us black people are not a monolith. Some of us stand out from the others, for good reasons. And I personally have no issue with being acknowledged for that!
Your son will probably continue to stand out from many other black people, and that's okay. He'll also have more opportunities, because of his intelligence and the way he speaks.
Most people (even black people) equate speaking proper English to intelligence. We have to stop being so easily offended about every thing. Not all white people are racist or are trying to be shady toward us. How we perceive things has a lot to do with our own cognitive biases.
