"Ted doesn't know about modern monarchies like the U.K."
I'm aware of the fact that there are monarchies in the world today. What I was trying to figure out was if Mirabella was an "absolute monarchy," as in the monarch is the sole legislative power in the nation. In the case of something like the United Kingdom, that is a constitutional monarchy where the monarch has very little, to almost zero power in the actual workings of the government. There are 7 countries in the world today with absolute monarchies, and one of them funnily enough is The Vatican.

I would not take my actual numbered ratings too seriously, as they can seriously be crippled by both the moral and sidekick ratings - which, honestly, are totally ridiculous categories to judge the movies and half the time I gave a zero if they didn't have them. If you are a Barbie fanatic, and genuinely liked a movie that I rated low, I'd suggest taking my "Barbie" and "Story" ratings, and then make that number out of 10. That's probably a more "real" rating for the Barbie movie.

The lore drops in “Barbie: Life in the Dream house” would kill Ted. In one episode it mentions how she doesn’t even know her own age adding to the clone theory and that at one point she was the president

I mean you could try to connect it to the existence of Barbie Land and how the real world affects BL. Barbie ascended from being solely in the Barbie universe to being able to interact as a singular autonomous being in the Real World, meaning that mayhaps with her new godhood, she is now trying to do the same to our world

Princess charm school is actually insane because it’s the only Barbie movie I can think of where they FULLY STATE that the main villain actually MURDERED Barbie’s biological parents. I love that. So fucking crazy for a kids movie.

See here’s the thing, Barbie life in the dream house doesn’t exist in canon, it’s a child’s imagination. I like to think of it as what the FNAF books do for lore, sure you can get info from it but it’s more of a baseline. REGARDLESS I do need a sequel of this video with the Barbie shows and RUclips videos

My sister and I loved those movies so much that she named her first fish Bibble. When he died, she adopted a second fish named Bibble 2 (she literally named him like the cat in the Simpsons where she just slapped a number on the end and called it a day). When Bibble 2 died , he was replaced with Baby Bibble, thus ending the fish Bibble lineage.

the funniest part about Swan Lake is that the original story makes about as much sense as the Barbie retelling
I was thinking that too. The movie doesn't make sense because the ballet it's based on is very vague.
It makes more sense when you realize that it was written (or at least composed for) by the same guy as The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty. Somehow Sleeping Beauty makes the most sense out of all of those. Tchaikovsky was kinda nuts.
Oh yeah, and Swan Lake being his first ballet might have something to do with it.

I believe that Kens are a subspecies of Barbie clones designed specifically to adhere to each BC's (Barbie Clone) set needs. This would make sence for each OBC (Older Barbie Clone) to have an older Ken as Kens were designed to be the perfect partner for a BC.

Fun fact in some time around 2010, the whole Barbie movies of 2001-2009 were compacted into 1 DVD, and I watched it so much that it no longer plays certain movies *cough Nutcracker & 12 Dancing Princess cough*
My Christmas list for all of my childhood consisted of "more barbie movies if there are any", so I genuinely have seen all of these and the memories that came flooding back were insane. Also you delineated the eras very well because the last Barbie movie I ever watched was the last one of the Fashion era, as in, I've seen all the Barbie movies except the "modern era" ones.

There are also 2 actual drawn cartoons from the 80s which people don't talk about but are incredible. Barbie and the Rockers: Out of This World and Barbie and the Sensations: Rockin' Back to Earth. In which...no big deal, Barbie is a rockstar in a famous band. As their last tour date they decide to perform in space to promote world peace...somehow. But then on their way back their space shuttle enters a time warp and they are transported back to the 1950s. She even conquered sci-fi. Incredible.

so actually i’m like 100% sure the plot of the puppy chase one where barbie makes her sister miss and then fail at her dance competition is based off little miss sunshine because that is basically a kid friendly version of that plot
It took me a minute, but the models used for Barbie Diaries look EXACTLY like the physical dolls. This very odd detail brought me so much pain.
24:23 as a young girl with OCD watching this movie made me buy a diary and write all my wishes in it. When that didn’t work, I started to watch this movie everyday to figure out what I was doing wrong. The moral of the story that diary wasn’t magic was a non option for me.

The movie with Brooklyn Barbie and Malibu Barbie was actual perfection and deserves a higher score because as a little girl we all had them both but no one knew why they were both just “Barbie”. It was like the best mystery ever solved!

I once owned a Kelly. One day I was playing with her on the headboard of my parent’s bed when suddenly she fell. I searched for hours, nay days, for Kelly. I convinced my parents to move their furniture around in search of Kelly that night and went to bed in utter disappointment at the loss. We moved out of that house in 2004 and I asked to look once more as we packed up their room and removed their furniture. Kelly was no where to be found. As an adult I theorize that she fell into a blackhole. Now I wonder, could this blackhole have been a result of Mattel wanting to reclaim their failed creation in an attempt to wipe their mistake from the face of the planet… but they mistakenly forgot to erase her from their first phase of films. We may never know.

The live action Barbie movie actually does fit with the decentralized hivemind theory. "Barbieland" is a Barbie hive. It's a place designed specifically for Barbies to live in. The Kens are a second class hivemind meant to serve the Barbie hivemind. The plot of the movie is about a singular drone escaping from the hivemind and returning to liberate her sisters from the oppressive rule of the hive. this video made me realize, why is it like a common thing for child’s fairytales to be about like medieval court intrigue? like why is it a common trope for childrens stories to be about ppl straight up trying to poison and kill a person for a throne?
Fairy tales generally come from the Grimm Brothers. Who, iirc, are Germans from the early 1800s. I think that's why. Also girls generally love princesses and princesses have courts
Because drama was more life threatening. I mean, not too medieval, but Alexander Hamilton did die in a duel bc of a literal dispute. If you go farther back than that, I’m sure throwing your life away for the sake of loyalty and legacy was very common back then. Add emotion and adventure to the pot and you got a beefy soup of drama.

I think one reason is because those stories are all in the public domain and it's an easy thing to adapt to whatever they want

interestingly, on the barbie show on netflix, there is an episode where raquelle approaches chelsea and calls her kelly on accident. chelsea does correct her, but i find it interesting that they included that in the show.
