The sweater you are wearing in the beginning of the podcast is beautiful! Thanks for sharing all your knitting adventures, both the good and the even betters. 😊

So glad you are on the mend. I got chickenpox in my midfifties which gifted me pneumonia. It was so painful and a long slow return to normal. I feel for you. The sweater you're wearing is stunning!

I frog stuff all the time (even fully finished sweaters). If i don't love it I'll reclaim the yarn and make something I do love. If i don't love the yarn I'll pass it off to someone who will appreciate it. It's nice to see you have a similar mentality. Not mention it's lessons learned about the craft or yourself. In my opinion it's never wasted time because I enjoyed the process of creating the object.

I completely agree! Our tastes change and sometimes patterns just don't work out in the end, no matter how positively we felt about them when casting on 😊

The pink of the garter stitch sweater really suits you, Whitney. Glad you will be using it for another project

So funny that we’re both reading the same book right now and are pretty much at the same point in the story. I am really enjoying this series as it is such a good combination of mystery, Jane Austen, and easy reading.

Right?! I love the combo of Jane Austen + cozy mystery! I've finished the book by now and it was good, but not quite as good as the first one in my opinion 😉 Luckily the author mentioned at the end that the series is going to continue so we have more of these books to look forward to!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your knitting journey. It's good for us to see others frogging and restarting. As I've heard said, sometimes a yarn and a pattern don't make a baby! LOL!
Have you thought about using the 2 shaded of grey yarn in a top with a lacy or patterned yoke? The first thing that came to my mind was to use the smaller amount in something like the Ranunculus. Make a distinct line (maybe a row or 2 of purls) then switch to the larger amount of color for the body and sleeves. You could even use the line in a different color (cream?) or add a bit of fluff to the yoke area. I think it would look lovely on you!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't like colour blocking very much and I wouldn't want to hold mohair or Suri with this yarn since it's cotton and that would make it unsuitable for warm weather. I love that expression yarn and a pattern don't make a baby 😂 It tells me not every yarn and pattern are meant to work together!

I'm so glad you made this video :) Frogging is a part of knitting and for some (the fearless, I like to think of us), a big part at times! It's all a part of the journey so thanks for once again taking us along yours 💜 ps I'm obsessed with Little Edie and Big Edie ☺

Hi Whitney so good to see you again here, I'm glad you're starting to feel better finally❤
I had a lovely time watching and listening to your podcast, while sitting outside in my garden and working on my very first spring project for this year, living my best life out here hahaha
I had also started to make the Ballerina Wrap top with the intention to wear it to a wedding (in fact I was inspired by your idea that I saw on ravelry if I'm honest), but funny enough I also had to frog it because of the same dye lots problem!! Maybe the Ballerina, although being a very beautiful pattern, is just not meant for weddings😂 Also let me say I like your "stash spotlight", soo much better than the typical "acquisitions" podcast part. Of course we all love buy new yarn and we all surely do it every now and them, but your videos are a beautiful reminder that it's okay if we don't buy yarn all the time and that's actually an occasion to honor our yarn stashes and to give them the possibility to inspire our creativity🥰

Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, stash spotlight makes so much more sense to me because I don't always have new yarns to show off and I have plenty in my stash that have never been seen on my podcast 🧶 I'm so sorry your Ballerina Wrap Top didn't work out either 🥺 I'm hoping to remake it at some point because I dearly love the pattern! I'm jealous of you getting to be outside enjoying your garden -- we just got a rogue April snowstorm yesterday 😂

I feel you on the fever and unfortunate book combo! My appendix burst and I had like 39,6 celsius (103,3 fahrenheit) fever and got emergency surgery. The next day I still had high fever and all the things. My brother brought me George Orwell's 1984 which I read and at night I was fully convinced I was living in the 1984 world, the tv was the screens from the book and the nurses from the ministry. Overall not the best experience! :D I'm happy to see you feeling better =^^=

I too really enjoyed The Late Mrs. Willoughby and I think I did read a second book, maybe I'm confusing it with another Jane Austen fan fic book...

You can most definitely make a Ranunculus with 900 yards and that is for the largest size.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not a fan of the Ranunculus.

How do you frog something that has mohair with it? It makes me crazy!! It tangles and catches so easily and appears to have knots from the little hairs. Where do you find the patience for this? Any tips?? Thank you 🥰

    • @knittedbywhitney
      @knittedbywhitney  8 месяцев назад

Hahah, I'll let you know once I do it! I've heard putting it in the freezer for a few days helps the fibres become less sticky, but if I'm honest, I think this is going to be a test of patience. I've heard from others that washing the yarn after frogging helps get the mohair fibres off the fingering, but I'll find out for myself.

Who is this knitter with all these WIPs??😂. As for frogging….my philosophy is that I am maximizing my time spent enjoying the yarn & knitting - more bang for my buck!!!

I know I'm late but if you didn't already split up the Minis for the wrap you could just hold from the inside and outside of the cake

Thank you for the wonderful and informative podcast. You made me feel so much better about frogging. It’s great to hear someone so creative and talented as yourself say you shouldn’t feel like a failure for frogging but that actually you have learned a lot and that’s not a waste of time and you are still working on your hobby so that’s not a waste either. Glad you are feeling better.
Might delve into the tarot sounds interesting.
