Because he is a scouser, doesn't back down, loves provoking the opposition and most importantly, plays for Liverpool. Yes, he has lapses in his defending once in a while, but that is because we rely on him offensively to play like Beckham as a box-to-box MF playmaker + a FB overloading the wing on top of it. If you keep him seated nearer to the sidelines with only duty being bombing down the wing with overlap runs like Robertson, he would easily defend better. Well, we don't. He has too many duties in the game offensively that there's no way his defending doesn't suffer a bit. Not everyone is Roberto Carlos levels of fitness either.
He can defend for sure. He has saved Liverpool from conceding quite a few times. He's had games where he has locked up top attackers. It's his attention span that's the issue. Trent is in a class of his own. There has never been a right back like him. He is legitimately a top 2/3 player on his team and is one of the people on his team most responsible for his team when they succeed. After KDB he may be the most creatine player in the Premiership and he's a right back. And in spite of what people say, he's not the defensive liability people say he is. Liverpool use a back 4 but he's instructed to be as offensive as formations where the teams play a back 3 if not more. The reason that worked under Klopp was because of Fabinho. It was his job to cover for Trent when he went forward and coincidentally enough it was Fabinho's last season at Liverpool where everyone was on Trent's case for his defensive frailties and that was mainly because he was having to get 10-15 goal contributions a season and cover for Fabinho at the back who was just awful. Prior to that season Trent was leading the league in assists every season and our defense was conceding the least amount of goals every season. So win win. @pedtalkssports i think it's mainly because he's English and plays for Liverpool. There's a lot of animosity within English fans due to the club rivalry. We saw it affect their national team too. He did deserve the criticism tbf, but now it just seems like people are hopping on the bandwagon. There's never been a rb like him. English fans don't appreciate him
Anyways, as great as he is going forward, there are people that push an agenda that he’s not an elite fullback and that’s because of his shortcomings defensively and I wouldn’t say that he’s a bad defender, there are moments where he gets beaten very easily 1v1 and whenever he makes a mistake costs his team a goal or is asleep at the wrong time, people act like he’s the only defender to have done that. It’s crazy how reactionary football fans are in a sense that a player can go from world class to mid and that’s because of the limitations they have in their game and different players have strengths and weaknesses and I agree that Trent isn’t the best defensive fullback I’ve ever seen, it doesn’t mean that he’s become a bad player overnight. It’s a testament to his ability that at the age of 25, he has the most assists from a defender in the premier league and he’s had multiple seasons where he’s had 10+ assists which genuinely isn’t normal, has started multiple champions league finals already, his numbers are excellent as well as he has 100+ G/A in all competitions from the fullback position and he has created a lot of chances at the highest level and this is what he does best. It’s easy to forget that he’s still 25 years old as it seems as if he’s been around forever. He has played a vital role in Liverpool’s success over the years as he helped them win the champions league and the premier league in 2019 and 2020 respectively as bar the Europa League, he has won everything there is to win there and it’s not like he’s a passenger in the team or a good player who was just carried by his teammates as he was always a starter performing well on a consistent basis. In recent years, with the team having some up and down results his attacking exploits have remained the same even though at times his lapses in defense have costed them games. Jurgen Klopp is the reason why he’s the player he is today, so far under Arne Slot, Trent has continued to be an integral player for Liverpool and they have to be doing everything in their power to keep him beyond his current contract as in recent months there has been a lot of rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid and imagine the PR he would get if he was on a club that boosts a player’s legacy, Trent needs Madrid PR. Regardless of what rival fans think of him, his talent is absolutely generational and I think when it comes to players, we spend too much time focusing on their weaknesses and what they can’t do rather than acknowledging their strengths and what they can do and he falls into that category unfortunately.
Trent Alexander Arnold is a generational talent and from solely an attacking perspective, he’s the best right back in the world and there is so much disrespect towards his name as the praise for him should be much louder than the criticism. BTW, I was just talking about attacking ability. Kyle Walker is a very good fullback, but at this stage of his career, he’s not even as good as him, as of right now, Reece James isn’t even in this debate not just because they’re not on the same level, it doesn’t help that his body is made of glass and nowadays he doesn’t even play and you’re not even sure if he can stay healthy for a long period of time since it’s inevitable for him to get injured. Some of the things that Trent does as a fullback is incredible as he has an excellent range of passing, he can create chances from anywhere on the pitch, he’s a great crosser and playmaker, he switches the play a lot and he has very good shooting has scored a lot of goals from outside of the box, he’s a good set piece taker with what he provides when taking free kicks or corners whether he’s shooting the ball or whipping the ball into the box. Him as an inverted fullback is more dangerous than him as a proper fullback with the way he’s able to drift into anywhere on the pitch and produce his magic on the ball when the team has possession. The fact that Gareth Southgate was mismanaging a player of his ability not knowing what to do with him as with the England national team, he was either on the bench or out of position when he played as playing him as a midfielder at the EUROs didn’t work and he was back on the bench, he needs to arrest himself and never managed a team again and he’s clear that his best position is as a right back as he has more time and space on the ball to do what he does best as a fullback than he does as a midfielder. Under a new manager who’ll better utilize him to his full strengths and him being a better option than what they have in his position and with him being in his prime, Trent is England’s first choice right back especially with Walker aging, James continues to be plagued with injuries and his injury nightmare has shown no signs of ending even after getting surgery, White doesn’t want to play for the national team and Trippier retired from international football.

Gary neville talks about goals against coming from his side. The other side arguably has 2 of the absolute best defenders in the world. Vvd and Andy Robertson are absolutely world class. Trent has cover from a slightly lesser central defender. He creates a lot more than he concedes. This season we've looked really good defensively under slot. He's found a way of utilising trent and also covering defensively on the right hand side. I stand by what I said above. If vvd was on his side his defensive shortcomings wouldn't be talked about. If you compare his defens8ve stats to others in his position they are comparible, his stats are not bad even in the Premier league.
Why do you think Neville has this bias?
YNWA LAD ❤
Trent is a liability defensively, but that is where good management and tactics dont expose his weaknesses and amplify his strengths. Saying Trent is bad defensivly isnt unfair criticism, it's what you see with your own eyes.
Only the best get hated the most
Why do you think that is?
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will pay over 70 million to have their name attached to whatever niche highlights Trent will produce in the next 5 years. It’s good for gaining new fans via youtube I guess.
The only people that don't rate him are fans of other teams and people that hate liverpool. Us Liverpool fans love him. (especially those who have watched every game since his debut will know how amazing he is)
Why do those people not rate him
The right back is the least important player on the field, that is just how it is. Goals from direct free kicks are not statistically relevant.
If Trent Alexander Arnold could make it as a holding midfielder, there would have been no controversy related to Liverpools lackluster transfer window attempts to sign a 6.
Top in class,we love hi. ❤
Southgate’s biggest mistake at the Euros was to bow to the English fans pressure and drop Trent. England played with Bellingham as their only creative outlet in the final. One can only imagine what England could have achieved if Southgate had courage.
If your clubs want trent alexander arnold, you must pay 100m and more, ok it says much about his quality. He is not overrated. Liverpool don't sell him anyway. He was in back to back final champion league when he was 19 or 20yo. Pilar of the team. He got everysingles trophies. He doesn't need to feel he less, he is the world best right back.
How much do you think his market value is?
The best attacking stats from a defender, pocketed Doku, Martinelli and most of the best left wingers, yet he will only feature for his mistake against Vinicius Junior.
Why do you think he still gets disrespected
@@pedtalkssports jealousy and bitterness from rivals. For example, in the Euros he was one of the better players on the pitch but was maligned for 1 or 2 mistakes so they can see their beloved but overrated Mainoo starting for England.
it's easy to find one other flaw rather than a thousand goodness
Why do you think that is
@@pedtalkssports it’s just human nature man, that’s how human brain works
He is the best RB. He played on highline which is difficult to track back reason whY KONATE COVER THE AREA. He is good with both feet no weakNESS. If he wasn't good why did he satrted the UCL FINALs Liverpool fc played under klopp.
5-2 not 6-2, don’t make it any harder than it already is😢
full fit Recce Jame is the best RB itw Chelsea vs Madrid completely Neturized Vini
He should move to Madrid. Liverpool doesn’t deserve him.
Southgate had no guts to play him that's all, not his fault!
Why do you think Southgate was so afraid
If you critique Southgate for finishing 2nd in the Euros, then critiquing Trent Alexander Arnold is also fair.
MADE IN LIVERPOOL🥺🥺
Shem on you we love him because he mocks man united
As a Real Madrid fan, we want Liverpool fans and English pundits to continue criticizing him so that our job of getting him next season for free would be easier 😁
If you do. You would get a GEM.
One of the best passers in the world at the moment.
With Valverde doing dirty work, I could see him work @ RM.
But as an LFC fan, imma say how it is. Buzz the f off. :D
@@oleante We will see what will happen at the end of this season then 😹
