What makes two face a great villain especially in this adaptation is that you get to see the type of man be was before, a man who was trying to do good in the world while also dealing with a struggle that nobody understood. When you watch these episodes they hit hard because you sympathize with harvey even after he ultimately gives in to the side of him he tried to keep locked up because you get to see him as a person before he becomes a villain. You also sympathize with bruce because he's having to deal with both the loss of a dear friend and also this need to try to save a man he still cares for.
The worst part of it all is that after Two-Face's intro episode, it's like the writers all forgot about this. Bruce and Harvey have no interactions where they act like they knew each other.

None of the other episodes with him as the villain are nowhere near as dark or tragic, the only one even coming somewhat close being Second Chance. But at least there’s the tie-in comics, Two-Face gets some great stories there (Two Timer and Fifty-Fifty in particular).

I'd put him as the saddest bcuz he was trying to help the city as a whole and came so close. Mr Freeze for 2nd bcuz his research could've saved more than just his wife and he also was nearly successful
Two-Face is such an amazing character in this show. Like, everyone has their personal favorites, and I can agree how good Quinn, Joker, Freeze, or the other rogues are, but Two-Face reigns supreme. The Two-Face 2-Parter is in the same league as Mad Love and Heart of Ice. GODDAMN MAD LOVE AND HEART OF ICE, that is a HIGH honor. I think the best thing about this particular version of Two-Face is Grace, his fiancée. We don't usually see how people besides Dent himself, Bruce, and sometimes Gordon are affected by him getting half his body wrecked, so having Grace there really helps. Another great thing is that normal Harvey appears in episodes before the disfigurement, and if you don't know who Two-Face is before watching the series, like my little kid ass when I was watching TAS, it's pretty wild when he becomes Two-Face. Other media also shows Harvey pre-disfigurement, but it isn't as good because, in those stories, it feels like there isn't any purpose of him being there besides planting a seed (The Dark Knight might also be another one where it doesn't feel like he's just there to be Two-Face). Also, this is just my opinion, but blue-half Two-Face is better than purple/pink-half Two-Face and ESPECIALLY green-half Two-Face.
The animated series was a really good show. It deals with a lot of themes that are young minds cannot comprehend at the time. But watching it as adults is a pretty deep and dark show
the first minute is what I came for the tragic and menacing sting of the piccolo accompanying the bassoon perfectly captured the conflicted dual nature of the character.
This theme is like when you have a friend or a family member that you love, but they're going down the wrong path. Like, you feel like the person you love is still in there somewhere. You reach out your hand to help them, but either you just can't reach or they won't take it. This hits especially hard if something happened to them.
God, truly spine tingling, one of the best episodes and best two-part episodes ever. The music shows off Harvey's trauma perfectly, if it wasn't for Btas, Two-Face wouldn't be one of my favourite DC characters.
This theme really sounds like an unhinged mind that is toying with whether to break into a homicidal rage and kill everybody or to just keep calm and relax. I love the flute, it's really terrifying!!! But the thing that makes it so unnerving and scary is that TwoFace is constantly trying to balance out his two sides, and walking on the tightrope over the field of opposites! So the flute is like a little taunt from his darkside trying to persuade him to go berserk and do something dangerous! But he tries to keep steady, and let things slide. Now I'm not homicidal, but I can definitely relate to the whole trying to stay balanced thing, when you feel like you're starting to lose it, or when you're in a bad mental state. I can't think of another theme from a show that is quite as dark and menacing as TwoFace's theme.
In the tie-in comics, The Batman Adventures, she pops up twice. And both of the stories she’s in are just as great, if not better, than the Two-Face episode.
There’s a character in my book series ‘My Ex is a Vampire’ who was initially inspired by this version of Harvey Dent, as well as the character of Tim from Marble Hornets
My favorite part about the motif in particular is that it sounds like the tune a child would sing as a taunt, which works great with Big Bad Harv’s origin.

I don't really see how it captures his dual theme, which could be a note going up and down or playing forwards then reversed. It just makes him as something sad, scary or dangerous.
+Jake Rutigliano It's not about his duality. It is about the fine line of his sanity. A literal tightrope between his two sides. It's a slow spiral into madness but it never fully gets there because he is still half sane.
Yes but more importantly, how he teeters on the edge of his dual identities. This theme is perfect because it sounds peaceful but at the same time it's uneasy. That is how you'd feel around two face. Sometimes he is nice and fair, other times he is crazy. It depends on the coin. And he eventually does fall deeper into his insanity by developing a third personality at the end of the series. His duality finally reveals itself to be a farce. He's always been insane. But it was a controlled insanity.

Yeah without the split personality angle, the character loses some of its oomph. Especially in today's world where we know a lot more about mental health but still not enough to stop people from slipping away, it makes his character so much more tragic and scary. Mental illness is a tricky battle to fight and the idea of losing that battle to your darker side is freaky.

ıIı CosmicPianist ıIı It's an amazing episode and still in my opinion the best origin and back story for two face. Between Harvey's pain at the transformation and Batman's guilt for failing to prevent it, it is probably the darkest episode of the original animated series.

I haven't seen the Batman series, and I don't understand how this is the darkest part of it.. But it does creep me out a bit.
ıIı CosmicPianist ıIı watch it, the whole series is great but this episode......boy are you missing out on something
ıIı CosmicPianist ıIı It's an amazing episode and still in my opinion the best origin and back story for two face. Between Harvey's pain at the transformation and Batman's guilt for failing to prevent it, it is probably the darkest episode of the original animated series.
i feel the episode called 'dreams in shadows' is the darkest one, but yeah this was dark as well...
the one with "Annie" and Robin(Tim) kinda falling in love was the darkest one for me... or the Calendar Girl one
Honestly, the Two-Face and Feat of Clay two parters were my favorite episodes.
Good heads we leave'em alone, Bad heads we hit'em hard.
"You gotta help me this could be bad for me"
"Worse than you think..."
Mysterious, nefarious, and slightly psychotic. Exactly what it needs to be
How did u manage to get this, its rare to get these types of songs and themes, please can u extend it to 1 hour or more, that would be greatly appreciated.
Edit:ur video and yr channel r awesome
so creepy, i love it. definitely a Danny Elfman style theme

“Let me out, Harvey.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No!”
“Yes!!”
“No!!”
“Harvey.” *flips the coin*
“No.”
“It’s time, Harvey.”
“No! Stay away from me!”
“You can’t run from me, Harvey! I’m there. I’m here. I’m over there. I’m right in front of you.”
*gasp*
*A shadowy figure steps out to flip a coin*
“No matter what you do, you can’t escape from me.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“You’re not real.”
“Oh, but I am YOU.”
“I’m nothing like you!”
“Yes, you are. You just....need....a little....push.”
*He pushes Harvey down to a pit. He comes out and Two Face appears. He looks down and sees a puddle, sees Harvey trapped in it. Two Face laughs and Harvey screams in terror.*
Two face; Get out of my face clown
Joker; Which one?
*Two face shocked and he's ready to strangle a clown *
Starlight Am that quote would be great for the batman film
Its time, Harvey.. Its tiiiime..
Batman: Yes, but a little luck couldn't hurt.
