That blog just pissed me off even more. I just want an organic experience thats not manipulating my matches. Alot of bullshit data sheets to defend an overall HATED match making system. Reverse boost 2box do what yall gotta do if you intend on playing this series. Fuck activision!
What they dont get is that back in the day your competition was representative of the average skill distribution. We are used to competing against opponents of varying skill. Not every kid on the basketball team is going to go pro. Not every kid at the lan party was god tier. Using algorithms to mathematically rank players skill for the purposed of matchmaking is only necessary in professional competitive sports, not games played for fun. And we remember playing halo and goldeneye on N64 and the fact that one guy was way better wasnt seen as a negative, it was a challenge to the other players, and usually the better guy would handicap himself somehow, like everyone else gets to be oddjob and have golden gun. We dont need an algorithm to make it fair. People switch sides to even out a blowout if you allow it...
The problem is, they’ve protected every below average player for so long, that if they went back to old matchmaking a bunch of those below average players would probably quit the game.
And they wouldn't even be in the game if it weren't for the system. It's the same. Activision doesn't want to lose 90% of its paying player base. Streamers don't pay, they get everything for free.
Makes sense, you improve by playing people around your level and then move up a stage. But if your chucked in with people much better than you, you continually get stomped until you leave
At this point SBMM/EOMM is the make or break for me. If there isn’t clear messaging that these systems aren’t changed substantially, I won’t be participating in anything CoD related.
Honestly I think that you being a good player you forget two important points: 1. They want to make money, they’re not a non profit, the more people they have the better the profit is 2. Being an average player who plays 1 or 2 hrs a day max (probably like the majority of active players) getting stomped every match by some of you makes me play other games instead of cod. For me it’s okay, for them it’s not. 2.1. As someone said, ranked is more chill cause most people are at the same level, you have to try but you know you can win, in pubs sometimes you know you can’t win Bonus point. Pub stomping is great for your numbers and for in general content creators, but if people are watching you they are not playing, and that comes back to point 1
The best thing everyone can do is to massively quit the game, so that Activision changes this horrible matchmaking system. But we all know no one will do it
It will never work, ever since mw2019 people been saying to speak with their wallets but at the end of the day there’s people who are dumb enough to enjoy playing a game that manipulates them into thinking they’re good when they’re not
Soooo they admit all they care for when considering matchmaking changes is engagement... 🤦♂️ but it's NOT called engagement optimized matchmaking guys.
They are yelling at us that they want to dictate our matches to how they think is best. Not us or how we feel. Its over, they’re not going back😓they dont care
Yep, I said this earlier. There’s zero consideration, just we’re right, you’re wrong. Current exec team need to be moved on somewhere else, support for Diablo 4 or something. Fresh blood with half a braincell is needed.
the team balancing just seems so off, consistently when i hop on im top fragging in my team but my team is so bad they just feed the other team streaks & we get spawn trapped. its insane like 7/10 games
I went on a 20 loss streak and was getting slammed every game. It got down to a 1v6 where I was alone. No matter how many of the bad games I quit they got worse
“Players who frequently experience blowouts are seen to quit matches in progress and the game itself, which negatively impacts the experience for players of all skill levels.”
I agree its about money.. Looking at the white paper, on page 9 has a graph shows that, of the 90% of the user base who they said did not come back more times in 2 week period that the return rate was only down 1% or less for almost all of that 90% group. That is nothing when they are comparing this to 50% of the North American player base. They also said they ran this test in early 2024 for a month and for half the player base in North America. I would love to see these numbers broken down for Warzone and not multiplayer which seems to have a player base drop off yearly after a couple months of multiplayer coming out. I wonder if they ran the test for Warzone at all.
I might as well give a comment on this from the perspective of a high-skill player (consistently 4+ kd in every title + Iridescent in ranked) I think a lot of the issues experienced come down to how the teams are balanced and less about the individual gap. That's something I fell they haven't explored enough, or at least not talked about enough. It's a lot more frustrating to play with an obviously inferior and unbalanced team, regardless of your or the opponent's skill level. I have done some tests before, of course it's anecdotal. I went into 10 matches, gave a subjective rating about how difficult i thought the enemies were and how good my team was, then later looked up the stats of every player. What i found is that the "hardest" enemies were statistically not even the strongest, but instead had a bigger skill gap compared to my team in that match. So having to carry harder is what made it feel difficult. The inverse was also true - the easiest matches i had, there were (relatively) better players on my team.
Played 8 matches of 6v6 yesterday on the 24/7 playlists yesterday. I won 4 matches in a row, going absolutely crazy, adrenaline pumping, destroying the whole lobby, top on my team each time. Then I played 4 more and lost all 4 to the sweatiest players ever. By the end of the session, SBMM took all adrenaline and heightened sense I had right out of me. I probably could’ve one the last two matches that I played, but by the end of it I didn’t even want to and didn’t even try because I knew it was rigged.
It is misleading. If there was more randomness in each Match and every bad player can get kills and every good player has someone to chase against, there would be less players leaving Matches. Just like the older games. Like you said JGOD, it felt like that for years. So I’m for sure inclined to be with you on your pinned comment.
Another question I have is how do mid-skill level players (average players) end up competing against Iridescent level players? I regularly encounter such players in both Warzone and multiplayer. My stats are a bit below average but not awful. And I play on console. It's bewildering to compete against these players and always impossible to do anything in such lobbies. If they're being honest about "fair matchmaking," how is it fair to put average players against the best? If tens of millions of people play this game, why can't the best compete against the best or more similarly skilled players? Makes no sense and demoralises me every time it happens.
I find this funny because literally last week I was talking about in multiplayer. Having no close matches anymore. It's like all one team is dominating or the other. When I feel older COD I had a lot more close matches. I've quit more matches in this years cod then probably all my past cods put together.
Your response at 8:35 was hilarious and on point. We had a blast for a decade, we didn't change, the game did. Sometimes you do the stomping, sometimes you get stomped AND THAT WAS WHY WE LOVED IT!!!!!!
Those hit boxes are manipulated as well. Lower skilled players easily land headshots on me with my latency at 5. Ive got multiple screen recordings in 1080p 120fps showing the obviously bad shot "land" and take me out. Open the scoreboard and wattayaknow?? Lower ranked player and lower KD in match. It rarely fails.
same its because your actually matched with players who are around your rank on your squad. Try winning the sweatfest of unranked EOMM hidden SR with two bronze idiots. It's borderline impossible. The player base is catching on now so they have to be transparent and then soon they will have to change it when people realize that the EOMM is an artificial reward theres nothing organic about the game.
Same I hit diamond with nephew last season and now we been running into crimsons and iridescents it’s wild lol our other friends don’t play rank so it becomes less fun
Its not about a fair experience. They literally will do whatever they think will keep you playing longer. Its predatory, EOMM is directly related to the same mechanisms behind casino games of chance and how much your willing to lose before you quit. There is a whole science to this that these companies spend more and more on to keep you playing the game and buying.
This game is not CoD anymore. It hasn't been for a long time. In fact, the mostly universally hated MWII was more CoD than MWIII. At least that game had buttery smooth gunfights. MWIII's crazy movement is detrimental to the core shooter experience, especially when paired with aim assist. CoD was never about moving like a maniac while rotational aim assist tracks the enemy for you. Streamers and warzone ruined this game. They should have 2 games. One that is more of a shooter and another one where its more about movement and heck give M&K aim assist on this game. Leave the other one untouched. The new engine doesn't help either. It's just not consistent enough, and it's also laggy and underperformant. The game has become needlessly complicated. It should be simple. Immersion is also nonexistant when instead of a war simulator we have furries vs rappers.
I ended up having to play rankeds resurgence because it was less sweaty than BR quads or trios. I'm irisdescent so I dont bump into randoms in ranked anymore so that argument isn't valid, there's less sweats in rankeds than BR quads, how is that even possible?
It sounds like you just described why my bag of cookies used to be huge back in the day and full of flavor. Now they are small and have no gluten or sugar but cost 5X more! COD... A gluten-less sugar free cookie. lol
I simply do not understand how this can be so over-complicated. K/D is one of the best barometers of skill. There's no reason for players sub 0.75 to ever play with people above that unless they're playing with friends on it and it averages out. It all just needs banding. 0 - 0.75 // 0.75 - 2.00 // 2.00 - 4.00 // 4.00 - 6.00 // 6+
Rarely play MP anymore except to rank up guns. In WZ the drastic swings in room skills is what pisses me and my friends off. It will be bot room, seemingly balanced rooms, etc. then if we do well or god forbid win a match, then for the next 5 or 6 matches we're fighting absolute killers (compared to us) until the COD gods decide to take pitty on us and restart the cycle of dumb.
Closest you can prob get to no SBMM is to use a VPN so you connect to your closest lobby. If you are an above average player that will make the game more enjoyable
I’m a bot at 0.7 along with my mates and we’ve all quit! We were constantly facing games with nukes in and streamers when they shouldn’t be in our lobbies, but everyone is using vp.
They also act like people don’t have lives and they may have left when they needed to. The act of turning off Cod might not have to do with bad people getting curb stomped that could have been their “last game” and losing just solidified it for that night. So many external factors for these experiments to be completely valid.
Sbmm is very much needed...I'm not a casual but my friends are...and they don't play in lobbies with me at all they just give up cause they skill gap is too big
That was always the fun in COD was getting better, grinding, now everything is catered to the sorry players. Its the everyone gets a trophy thing all over again.
at the 9:00 mark @JGOD compares COD currently to the first decade of the game. Hard to make this comparison now, where fortnite and tiktok exists. There's simply more competition for eyeballs now - losing eyeballs to another screen or game is such a higher risk now than in the past. If a wider audience is going to engage consistently (which is how these companies imagine they make money now) with EBMM, they're just going to do EBMM. COD is far from a niche Souls-like market - it's marketed to everyone with two thumbs, and even those with 1 or no thumbs.
More than a decade ago everyone was new to call of duty. Statistics are skewed not because there are more veterans through the years. I think im casual but I can be sweaty too. We are just at a hyper competitive environment and information is readily available on RUclips to establish foundational skills.
You cannot convince me they do not calculate store purchases / battle pass owning in the system. It is so clearly easier when you spend money, especially in the shorter term.
the only time i play multiplayer is to either level a gun up, grind for camos or challenges for certain things if they are quicker than do them elsewhere. ill quit matches in multiplayer after ive done challenges or camos etc not because of the matchmaking
Running this for 14 days and not specifying the days that this happened kinda sucks, there's a lot of people that only plays on the weekends like me. logging in on a fri-sat-sun and not logging back into the game for 4 days doesn't means i quit the game but i can't play during the weekdays.
EOMM is what apex has and it is the worst FKN matchmaking system, its based of retention n Nothing to do with gamers skill lvl how long can it keep u engaged, and it manipulates your wins and losses accordingly
unfortunately, when a teammate leaves and we're winning, a lower skilled player will fill, and on the losing team, they will be filled with a more skilled player, unfortunately sometimes significantly enough to be able to swing the game in their favor, it makes sense, but feels bad, when even with a significant lead, a single player and join and start dominating, earning streaks, and turning the game around. feels o.k. when i join an in progress game and am able to help the team, but still..
I dont know how they math it out, i dont know how to fix it, all i know is its not working. in the last 4 months or so the matchmaking has absolutely destroyed me. every single warzone match has been an absolute sweatfest, my lifetime KD has dropped from just shy of 1.7 and is now at 1.3 and dropping may not sound like a lot, but to impact lifetime stats that much basically means my KD has gone consistently negative, for 4 straight months
Ive been saying for years I think they should go back to sever browsers like the old cods on pc. You have a mix of both worlds you can still have quick play and special event modes but also give us the opportunity to rent from them our own servers. that way they make even more money and the players have more options. Somehow over the years we have let them take away options out of the game and just be like deal with it or don’t play!
"Playing ranked" every time I log on makes me want to not play at all. I'm happy to roll the dice on the lobbies and not have the sweat fest I'm getting into every game.
This is so stupid. The bad players greatly outnumber good players. I'm a 2 KD player and I don't consider myself good, but what this is now is the game generating my outcome based on how they think it should be. I believe ping should be king, before things were like this people did not quit as often. Bad players, know that they are bad and want to get better... if you shelter them it does not give them a chance to see the improvement. My friends that are worst than me refuse to play the game because of this reason. One dude said he enjoyed playing when it was natural, not when they tried to hide him from good players.
It’s just weird playing knowing it’s a curated experience, I remember when I started cod and how happy I’d be when I’d drop a positive kd and when I’d see my kd go up now it’s like what’s the point, I got like 3 kd now and it’s not even fun to play at all
They might be right since they have the data, I can only speak for myself and people I know, and most of them (myself included) quit the game due to precisely this matchmaking logic. I don't play MP anymore, haven't bought MWIII and won't buy BO6, I only play Warzone a couple matches a month when I itch for a BR, but when I want an arena experience I go play anything else other than CoD, because of their matchmaking. But yeah, I might live in a bubble, who knows
The biggest problem is US. Why? Because we keep playing this game and supporting whatever changes or they feel like making. While we continue to ask for certain changes they will not make the changes we want happen.
A lot of my friends stopped playing cod because they can’t keep up in the lobbies and get discouraged really created a gaming gap in our friendship so we play different games besides cod sadly even tho I still enjoy cod for what it is at this point
I guess since I’m the top percent player the game considers me as a diamond to iridescent skill range. In my honest opinion I’m definitely more crimson but if I had more time I would definitely be iri. But it funny too because I don’t play ranked that much and those are the players I’m basically playing against in pubs EVERY SINGLE GAME. And even the ones that have bronze on their profile do not play like bronze at all lmaoo. The way matchmaking is in modern gaming is the worst thing to ever happened.

@@stevecarey4740 its mostly KD based. my RL friends are all .5-.7 kd's. i don't play much (i used to) i'm 1.7 kd. when i play with them they get SMASHED. then tell me how easy it was before i joined. and i'm talking they play hours pretty much every day.
i've also played on their accounts and systems when i'm at their house. its wildly easy.
if they play my account at my house. they dont stand a chance.
try it out if you have a RL friend that terrible and your above avg. you''ll see.
That blog just pissed me off even more. I just want an organic experience thats not manipulating my matches. Alot of bullshit data sheets to defend an overall HATED match making system. Reverse boost 2box do what yall gotta do if you intend on playing this series. Fuck activision!
Well it's gonna be on the game pass. So 2boxing is going to be way more prevalent now.
2box?
Typical classic doctored study to reach a conclusion they're happy with. Food and drug companies have been doing it for ages.
Bad players need to be protected from good players or they quit, that seems to be their bottom line.
Makes sense, you improve by playing people around your level and then move up a stage. But if your chucked in with people much better than you, you continually get stomped until you leave
@@JonSmith-us1sssounds like the issue is with the players not the system.
At this point SBMM/EOMM is the make or break for me. If there isn’t clear messaging that these systems aren’t changed substantially, I won’t be participating in anything CoD related.
I haven't played a game this year and I don't miss it one bit. Trash game
Typical, Activision doubled down on their nonsense instead of addressing it.
Literally bro😭💀
Honestly I think that you being a good player you forget two important points:
1. They want to make money, they’re not a non profit, the more people they have the better the profit is
2. Being an average player who plays 1 or 2 hrs a day max (probably like the majority of active players) getting stomped every match by some of you makes me play other games instead of cod. For me it’s okay, for them it’s not.
2.1. As someone said, ranked is more chill cause most people are at the same level, you have to try but you know you can win, in pubs sometimes you know you can’t win
Bonus point. Pub stomping is great for your numbers and for in general content creators, but if people are watching you they are not playing, and that comes back to point 1
One smart comment in this comment section 👏🏻
'Ranked is meant to be a competitive environment'
Me who goes to resurgence ranked to chill...
This just makes XDefiant more and more appealing
We are cooked fellas
Just until gta drops
We’ve been since mw2019, genuinely can’t understand how people defend these modern titles or even call them good
@@aspekt438 couldn’t agree more
The best thing everyone can do is to massively quit the game, so that Activision changes this horrible matchmaking system. But we all know no one will do it
I've quit
It’s all about the money💵
What was great about call of duty 4 on PC was custom community servers. Id love to have that back or just input based match making
I've noticed that lobbies/games get easier for 3-4 rounds immediately after you purchase something for $20.
Main take away is they would rather rely on tricking people into playing than just making a good game that everybody wants to play
the team balancing just seems so off, consistently when i hop on im top fragging in my team but my team is so bad they just feed the other team streaks & we get spawn trapped. its insane like 7/10 games
Get rid of it on pubs and have it for ranked play only
I went on a 20 loss streak and was getting slammed every game.
I might as well give a comment on this from the perspective of a high-skill player (consistently 4+ kd in every title + Iridescent in ranked)
I think a lot of the issues experienced come down to how the teams are balanced and less about the individual gap.
My K/D in MP is from 1.00 to .98 and I literally play with demons like 9/10 matches.
Please make the 2 boxing video!
Yes, please. I don't even know what 2box is (yes, I'm about to look it up,) but releasing the video would be great.
2box vid please
Oh man with this attitude from them close to BO6 it's not looking good
Keeping posting about this jgod. Your honesty about the state of the game will solidify your reputation as an amazing cod youtuber.
Professional 2 boxer here. I’m glad that I found out what that was. This isn’t my problem anymore 😂
I remember when people would simply just play the game. Thanks a lot call of duty.
it's easy to get into, not easy to master. why don't you try playing a match in iridescent and see "how easy" it is to win there?
@@QiuSe buddy what are you talking about
@@averageclips5436 seems the reply landed under the wrong comment
I am Diamond rank and those ranked lobbies STILL feel easier / lower skilled than standard matchmaking.
The system is broken.
same its because your actually matched with players who are around your rank on your squad. Try winning the sweatfest of unranked EOMM hidden SR with two bronze idiots. It's borderline impossible. The player base is catching on now so they have to be transparent and then soon they will have to change it when people realize that the EOMM is an artificial reward theres nothing organic about the game.
i love how they discuss that skill or (k/d) plays a part in sbmm but never discuss the percentage it plays in it
Something seems to have changed over last 2 weeks. My games have gone nuclear in terms of difficulty. Borderline unplayable.
Spend some $ lol smh
Just stoped with ranked. With second diamand I get top 250 players every game…
Same I hit diamond with nephew last season and now we been running into crimsons and iridescents it’s wild lol our other friends don’t play rank so it becomes less fun
Facts bro...
ChatGPT, summarize the summary for me
Its not about a fair experience. They literally will do whatever they think will keep you playing longer. Its predatory, EOMM is directly related to the same mechanisms behind casino games of chance and how much your willing to lose before you quit. There is a whole science to this that these companies spend more and more on to keep you playing the game and buying.
They just want engagement and money. Period. They know what they have to do, they just won't because won't be as profitable.
The part they are missing:
You get better at the game by using playing against better players. You learn what works and what doesnt.
The book 'How to Lie with Statistics' by Darrell Huff becomes more and more useful everyday 🤣
Ping is so inconsistent in this game. i go from 14 ping one game then 80 the next. its all over the place.
Everyone wants bot lobbies nobody realizes they are the bot
Also on the opposite ends sweats don’t realize they are sweats. They just wanna curb stomp bad players and don’t realize they are way above average
Yep Just like the Sweats are the ones who are stacking and cohesive. And they complain when some one else does it. Not realizing they are the problem
I ended up having to play rankeds resurgence because it was less sweaty than BR quads or trios. I'm irisdescent so I dont bump into randoms in ranked anymore so that argument isn't valid, there's less sweats in rankeds than BR quads, how is that even possible?
Sheesh gas light indeed now the infamous 2boxing video please lol
80%?! My goodness the target audience for this franchise has gotten weak and frail. "PROTECT ME, ACTIVISION!"
It sounds like you just described why my bag of cookies used to be huge back in the day and full of flavor. Now they are small and have no gluten or sugar but cost 5X more! COD... A gluten-less sugar free cookie. lol
You were quick with this lol
2.5 kd and can t win a 1 v1 in 10 games in a row. Thats why i stopped playing. I don t want to play a tournament every evening.
I like how you called out the strait blatant lies. The gas lighting is a lot more and they were being very disingenuous😂
I feel like I'm always getting matched with amazing enemies, but my teammates are absolutely terrible.
Closest you can prob get to no SBMM is to use a VPN so you connect to your closest lobby. If you are an above average player that will make the game more enjoyable
It annoys me when they moan about people leaving games. People aren't leaving because they're enjoying the game.
I’m a bot at 0.7 along with my mates and we’ve all quit! We were constantly facing games with nukes in and streamers when they shouldn’t be in our lobbies, but everyone is using vp.
Stopped playing warzone because of this shit
They also act like people don’t have lives and they may have left when they needed to. The act of turning off Cod might not have to do with bad people getting curb stomped that could have been their “last game” and losing just solidified it for that night. So many external factors for these experiments to be completely valid.
Sbmm is very much needed...I'm not a casual but my friends are...and they don't play in lobbies with me at all they just give up cause they skill gap is too big
Find better friends
have they tried improving?
That was always the fun in COD was getting better, grinding, now everything is catered to the sorry players. Its the everyone gets a trophy thing all over again.
@Wek-9 yeah but they are CASUALS
@Wek-9 can't expect someone who plays the game a a quarter of the amount of time you do to be on the same level
at the 9:00 mark @JGOD compares COD currently to the first decade of the game.
9:00 no way they mentioned that and thought they cooked 😭
My KD is 0.6. I've never quit a game like a child though, quitting achieves absolutely nothing.
What’s 2 boxing? I’d like to see that video
How many times i say in a chat party this is my last game and i get gifted a win. 🤔
As usual we learned very little from Activision. Interested in seeing the two boxing video JGod
They should send out a poll who wants matching making who doesn’t want it.
unfortunately, when a teammate leaves and we're winning, a lower skilled player will fill, and on the losing team, they will be filled with a more skilled player, unfortunately sometimes significantly enough to be able to swing the game in their favor, it makes sense, but feels bad, when even with a significant lead, a single player and join and start dominating, earning streaks, and turning the game around. feels o.k. when i join an in progress game and am able to help the team, but still..
I dont know how they math it out, i dont know how to fix it, all i know is its not working. in the last 4 months or so the matchmaking has absolutely destroyed me.
every single warzone match has been an absolute sweatfest, my lifetime KD has dropped from just shy of 1.7 and is now at 1.3 and dropping
may not sound like a lot, but to impact lifetime stats that much basically means my KD has gone consistently negative, for 4 straight months
It’s just weird playing knowing it’s a curated experience, I remember when I started cod and how happy I’d be when I’d drop a positive kd and when I’d see my kd go up now it’s like what’s the point, I got like 3 kd now and it’s not even fun to play at all
I absolutely hate what’s come of gaming. For what was once escapism is now just punishment for being half decent.
The truth lies indeed
Would love to see their breakdown for Warzone as the matchmaking is a lot worse there
They might be right since they have the data, I can only speak for myself and people I know, and most of them (myself included) quit the game due to precisely this matchmaking logic. I don't play MP anymore, haven't bought MWIII and won't buy BO6, I only play Warzone a couple matches a month when I itch for a BR, but when I want an arena experience I go play anything else other than CoD, because of their matchmaking. But yeah, I might live in a bubble, who knows
Hate when my teammate leave, “skill gap found that players quit…..yeah makes sense lol 😂
Im a 34 year old man with a 1.6 KD and my buddys have k.ds lower then 1 and we get put with sweaty demons 24/7 its literally no fun anymore
Whatever they had when the changed the match making during advance warfare-BO4 they need to just go back to that.
Season 5, LET's GO! JGOD for President!
