Ali is a great actor, but the wrong pick for this role. He played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage (Netflix), Phoenix in Alita Battle Angel and just _oozes_ presence and charisma. Green Book is a "historical docu-drama" and one of my all-time favourites. *BUT* he's not an action star. He never had a chance of living up to Wesley. He's perfect for a scheming mastermind type, but not a sword-wielding bad ass.
In regards to Blade Trinity, it seems Snipes was just extremely commited to the character, and the rest of the cast and crew were constantly trying to make the film light-hearted and comedic. I don't really blame him for being pissed off almost the entire time.
It's super hard when you have to keep it soft, comfy and PG-13. Can't offend anyone, ya know? I mean those vampires could be taken as being coded t-people of something 🤣
I'm old enough to remember the original comic book version who was very much a character of the Blaxplotation trend of the time. Especially in the non comic code books his swagger was kick ass.
Blade 3 was a mixed bag... you laugh at it for Ryan Reynold's non-stop mouth, but you also laugh at Jessica Biel trying to pull an Iron Eagle while engaging in melee combat. At this point, you'd have a hard time finding someone who has the look (not to mention the multiple black belts) that Snipes brought.
A damn shame, because Mahershala Ali is a superb choice to play Blade -but of course, Marvel just couldn't leave their usual shenanigans behind for more than 5 minutes. They should have gotten Chad Stahelski to helm the project
What he reverse Midas touch that Disney/Marvel has done to some of my favorite franchises makes me despair at the thought of what's going to happen to my beloved Firefly.
They should have consolidated the best ideas from the multiple rewrites into a Midnight Sons project; a simultaneous Blade & Ghost Rider reboot, with the opportunity to introduce some of Marvels most intriguing B List heroes and give the audience something we haven’t seen recently: a supernatural horror film within the superhero genre that sets the bar for all to follow. Agreed. These characters should not be swapped. I don’t want to see a white, or female, or pudgy, or beta, etc. Blade. Please just stop, Hollywood.
There is only one Blade.
Wesley Snipes.
At this point, I've become convinced that Hollywood's main industry now is money laundering.
Probably is. There is no way they are this oblivious to the fact that this shit doesn't sell. The Internet exists and 9/10 times these projects flop and are mocked to high heli. Even Captain Marvel which 'succeeded' is vilified with only the Fallout show somehow being liked despite being equally as trash tier as a lot of modern stuff.
It must be laundering because even if they want to push a political message, you can't really do that if you're broke and homeless so they have to have an ulterior motive behind pushing this slop.
"No one wanted a Blade period piece set in the 1920s" . . . I mean I am VERY curious what his idea was.
Blackula revisited?
It was gay
I mean a roaring 20s art deco hack and slash movie sounds awesome
@aquafreesh9219 it really does!
I would be too, I like X men 97 a lot but I do worry how woke demayo would've went with ut, and season 2 worries me as well
Why the hell would they make their first MCU Blade movie be about replacing him?
Because Blade is Snipes. And Snipes is a masculine black man. And their ideology demands they replace him with a chick and she must be gay and lame.
Blade was in peak entertainment era. The golden 90s
The only way that Marvel could fix it is to bring back Guillermo del Toro (that made the second film) and the writer of that great show called The Strain, which was an awesome show that mixed vampires with zombies.
Not the only way, but certainly a good way.
Finally, a movie that deserved to be cancelled!
Now if only Lucasfilm would cancel everything in their pipeline.
Gay/trans/bi Yoda/Grogu hasn't been made yet, they at LEAST have to get their magnum opus out before they're done. Give them a chance.
Kathleen Kennedy: 'Make Grogu a chick, and she's lame and GAYYYYYYYYYYY!'
Other Execs: 'GROGU IS A BABEH HOW DOES THAT WOR--'
Kathleen Kennedy: 'DO YOU WANT YOUR JOBS NONE OF THAT MATTERS, CHICK, LAME, GAY, NOW!'
1920’s Blade. A silent black and white film where he hunts Nosferatu.
"Made Batman look like a rings of power superfan" Fuking loved that, lol
Watchmen series 2019 was so good and I could have sworn there was just only one planned season
Imagine trying to explain to your child in a few years that this movie single handedly lead to Captain America wielding Mjolnir.
oh, revisionism...
Dey should've gotten Chad Stahelski to direct d movie.....
"There's only ever gonna be one blade"
I could not have been the only one that heard that line and thought "so that movie is never happening."
Seriously, it seems like God doesn't want this movie made at this point.
Because He's got standards.
*There's one Blade and there's only going to be one Blade.*
Now let's say that to Other Characters like Spiderman and Ironman.
I am so shocked. Look everyone, this is my shocked face.
I am shocked, _shocked!_
Well, not _that_ shocked...
😮
Awe you guys. Properly had me chuckling 😂
All I wanted was a supernatural buddy-cop movie with Blade and Ghost Rider but we can't have nice things
I'm so happy to hear this. Blade is a special movie to my wife and I.
When we got our first apartment together, and the place was empty, we scrounged up a couch, and really went out on a limb financially to buy a TV and a DVD player. We were so excited, and what was the first DVD we bought? Unanimously decided on Blade. We still have it too. Good memories.
That’s so sweet!
"We scrounged up a couch"
😂😂😂
I just thought that statement was funny. The idea of just "scrounging" a couch together lol. No shade intended. 🙏🏻
"There's only one Blade"
I liked the TV series with Kirk Jones :(
Hey, someone else who remembers the Sticky Fingaz Blade show.
Not just Ryan Reynolds launch vehicle, Donal Logue too! 😊❤
The opening blood rave scene in the first Blade is still one of my favourite ever ❤️
"There's only been one Blade. Only ever gonna be one Blade."
i disagree. theres only one blade because the writers and the productions all about maximize profit with the least amount of effort as possible on top were currently live in the wrong era for reebot or anything productive.
@@dendrienno one gives a shit.
I’m still convinced Deadpool 3 signed this Blade reboot’s death warrant. Cause there’s only ever gonna be 1 Blade!
The number of writers going in and out felt like we were about to get a Blade STD
53 quid, you greedy son of blade
Man, I've watched Blade at 50 times on DVD. Actually got a widescreen CRT TV to watch Blade, the Matrix, Shrek... back in 1999.
I haven't seen it in at least 20 years, gonna watch it tonight. Thanks, Drinker!
yeah i might do the same
You still have a picture of that widescreen crt?
Nice! I remember seeing those widescreen CRT TVs in the late 90’s and early to mid 2000’s. Always wanted one.
@@Thomasmemoryscentral Nah, but it was definitely a Sony, I think 28 inch.
It was a terrible purchase to be honest. It was fairly expensive for what it was, and plasma TVs started appearing shortly after I bought it.
Wesley Snipes is the only Blade in my mind.
Blade 1 was an amazing film. Wesley killed it in that role.
That new guy looks like he just came off the set of "American Society of Magical N&&&roes"
I think that is unfair to Mahershala Ali. He is a great actor and seemed really passionate about this. Oh well, just another screw up by the MCU.
I liked Blade 1 and 2 thought they both were badass. 3 is more of a guilty pleasure movie lol.
@@amarcellus1714 He still doesn't fit the aesthetic. Specially not in the promotional art.
@@amarcellus1714 he is way too old for the role, just get some late 20's actor, who knows some martial arts, to play the character
@Critical Drinker - you never stop making the last line for real. Cheers, mate.
Its funny how we got Wesley Snipes cameo in Deadpool & Wolwerine before this movie😂😂
And did him justice.
Hearing his voice shill out plushies is probably the most unexpected and best news in this video.
I know Snipes was a dick on set, especially Blade 3, but I'd love to see him reprise his role.
Seeing what they were doing with 3, I don't blame him
In regards to Blade Trinity, it seems Snipes was just extremely commited to the character, and the rest of the cast and crew were constantly trying to make the film light-hearted and comedic. I don't really blame him for being pissed off almost the entire time.
all bullshit accusations and blame shifting from the 3rd movie.
I genuinely don’t know how hard it is to make a movie about a kick ass vampire
The writer of Alien Covenant?
I was out at that point.
No Wesley, no Blade.....
there will always be only one Blade
A damn shame, because Mahershala Ali is a superb choice to play Blade -but of course, Marvel just couldn't leave their usual shenanigans behind for more than 5 minutes. They should have gotten Chad Stahelski to helm the project
They can't match Wesley's... Wesleyness
Thanks for reminding me to watch the old Blade movies again!
5:01 that's it, there's never going to be a better use of that quote, ever. You win.
"There's only one Blade. There's only ever gonna be one Blade" - Blade
This would be a good "Production Hell" video!
There was a Blade TV show in the 2000s, the fact the nobody talks about it show you how good it was.
How you explain things is unmatched!
Vou're old bot, now get tf out of here!
SILENCE, ASSBOT!!!
There's only been one Blade, there's only ever gonna be one Blade
Snipes is the one and only.
Oh well, not my circus
