The first movie gave us one of the coolest introductions of a main character ever. He's in a room surrounded by enemies, and they all freak out when they see him. They're scared sh*tless even though they outnumber him. It's immediately established that, in a roomful of what are supposed to be apex predators, he's so dangerous that almost all of them run. That scene always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
The only one who didn't run was basically an idiot, too stupid to recognise the threat. It probably helps that he regenerates, but he can't regenerate his head.
It is a shame Stephen Norrington doesn't direct movies anymore, he was one of the most unique visual directors in the business and he is British too. I believe his last movie was The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, he had such a bad experience with Sean Connery on that movie that he said he would never direct a movie again. A sad end to a great career, if that's true....

Disney refuses to give people what they want...Shang chi would have been a good movie if they had stuck to the Jackie Chan martial arts sequences. But they made some incredible sequences and followed them by quantumania CGI nightmares like all the other marvel movies
@@emhu2594 It's especially sad since the Stunt Coordinator was actually Jackie Chan's top protégé, in terms of both fighting and stunts, who sadly died between filming and release. And you are right about going from cool Kung-Fu sequences to CG mashed potatoes, but what's sad is that, apart from Guardians 3 and the Spider-Man sequels, I'm quite certain that Shang-Chi is my favorite MCU film since Infinity War.. Not great when one that's very middling like that is one of the best of several years!
The messed-up part is that Donnie Yen and the film producer didn't get along, and the fight scenes he choreographed got edited big time. He didn't want to be in film much longer, so his character was killed off.
5:23 The fact that they thought it was a good idea to try to make blade a female tells me all I need to know about Marvel and society today. Blade in the 1920s is wild 😅
I could totally see that work with an aging Blade and a sarcastic, bombastic ghost rider. I mean obviously Ghosty is WAY more powerful than Blade but Blade knows things. He has been around a long time.
Fun Fact: Stan Lee originally had a cameo that was ultimately cut from the film. He played one of the cops that came into the blood club during the aftermath and discover Quinn's body on fire.
Good. Breaking immersion for his cameo is fine in some movies, but Blade would have to have been a serious performance by Lee. Sure, it could have been, but if not, it's wise they cut it.
In 2019, when they finally decided to do another movie, they planned to give Stan Lee a cameo, after he passed away in 2018? I'm sure they could just CGI him, no harm there, I'm sure. 🙄
It's simple: imagine you're writing a John Wick movie, except everyone that's supposed to die is a Vampire. You're like 3/4 of the way there. You're welcome Marvel.
Don't give them any ideas! Next thing you know, Disney will buy the rights to John Wick and we'll get a new movie where he's a sad, old failure, confronting his mental health issues and toxic masculinity while Phoebe Waller-Bridge leads him around and does all the ass kicking.
Well, the basic foundation is pretty obvious, the issue is how to "fit" this kind of movie into the MCU continuity. Blade is a supernatural character, why the hell Dr. Strange, Wong, the bald master that I forget the name (amazing actress), etc.. why they have no idea about the existence of vampires in that world. On a lesser extent, it's similar to the mutants dilemma, the MCU continuity got too big and messy, it's almost impossible to include these characters (here it comes the reboot)
Man after 20 yrs Wesley Snipes still got it! That swagger he carries with blade just doesn't go away, I would like to see one more movie from him as Blade.
even with Wesley it still would be ungodly afaul. Wesley does what Wesley being told. if hes told to be a wimpy former self character and he will be one. because todays era men are useless and women are everything in a world were both art and creativity is dead
As much as I love the first two Blade movies and the fact that Wesley reprised the role in D&W, he was in absolutely horrendous shape in it. They tried to hide it with his outfit, stunt doubles and clever angles and editing, but they were never gonna succeed. The man's old and frail, and he looks old and frail. Bringing him back for another Blade movie would be embarrassing for everybody. Let's leave him be.
What the hell lmao!!!! Yall are a RIOT! Yeah I heard he's gonna star in Geriatric Vampires where he's so old he lost his vampire sparkle and ends up having to join up with vamps in the Twilight universe to find his Vampire Sparkle™. That man didn't have shit and needed to get the hell off the screen. The puppet ALF was 10x a better actor :/ Wesley Snipes just used method acting for his role as Blade. His subtext was 'I really have to poop', and while that's the same subtext every batman has... it's all too evident in this one. You can tell the man is at risk of letting out a lil more than a fart on set. The only thing scary good about him is that I was really convinced the mans either had already pooped himself or was about to. His battle with his bowels is evident in his acting and detracts and distracts from other, better characters. Yeah, even that version of 'Gambit'. That was better, whatever that was. He was OK 20 years ago, but he can kindly GTFO.
@@i_am_ergoUnless Wesley is willing to put in 6 months of training to get back into very good condition. If they offer him enough money as a reward he'd maybe do it.
Do you really, honestly believe that even with Snipes and relatively talented writers and director, they could make anything even half as good as Blade 2? Blade 1 and 2 were lightning in a bottle, like Alien 1 and plural. You and I both know they will never be matched, let alone bested.

If Blade was set in the 1920’s, I can sum up every scene for you… White bad guys: “We don’t like your kind round here!” Blade: “what? You don’t like Vampires?” Bad Guy: “No. Blacks” *Karate*
A 1920s period piece doesn't strictly sound terrible. After all, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is quite well done- granted it adapted comic source material and was made by largely experienced and reputable staff. I don't trust Disney's Marvel Studios to do the same.
To this day Jessica Biel still has the best, believable physique in a superhero film, and she's not even a superhero in Blade 3. These days they just CGI muscles onto skinny girls, like Natalie Portman in Thor L&T.
That's so wild to me, how they can't figure out a movie about the guy slaying vamps in New York. It's literally writes itself, also tons of source material.

Hey if Rings Of Power can spawn Tolkien saying “Evil cannot create, only destroy” from the horrendous adaption fanfiction named Rings Of Power, guess this is a new positive for Blade?

The chick. There is always a good-looking chick in a Blade movie and the chick is in a SIDE role. A SIDE role. Whistler is more important to Blade than the hottest of hotties needing his help or trying to seduce him.
Something they did over, and over, and over, and over again successfully even. It would be like screwing up an Assassin's Creed game set in Japan with literal shinobi. Oh...
The reason I think The Blade trilogy are so good, or at least the first 2 movies, are because they’re straight up vampire movies and not a marvel movie or a comic book movie in my opinion.
I’d say the same for all of Hollywood. Movies are sh*t now and there’s nothing original and unique about movies anymore and it’s been like that for decades. It’s time for Hollywood to throw in the towel, we would be better off without Hollywood movies. I know it sounds harsh but it’s true.

Five years before The Crow and nine years before Blade, we also had The Punisher with Dolph Lundgren that I gotta say, delivered in the gritty violence stakes. Anyway, good riddance to this, Wesley is Blade and that's all there is to it.
Blade has to be a black ripped martial artist in real life that's also an actor. not just an actor, and this new guy is built like a string bean. We would see a potential replacement already in other movies right now, but seeing as we don't, we probably will never get another real blade. Sure, they can get somebody to act him, but the physicality is a big part.
'Never' is a bit too pessimistic, I think it's possible a few years down the line there'll be a new young action star who makes it big and people will say 'this guy would be perfect as Blade' and it'll get someone at Disney to restart production with a more solid plan. Also, we might get an offbrand version of Blade that serves as a proper spiritual successor to the originals now that the Disney project is officially on indefinite hold.

Wait till you hear this line was ad-libbed by Wesley. It wasn’t on the script.
The entire opening scene from Blade is insane and unmatched for its sheer visceral impact.
It leans hard into shock value too, but damn is it effective.
Add in the rave and music was perfect for the time. That jam is on a playlist of mine
Tell you what, bring Wesley back and have him kill a bunch of greedy, talentless, money-hungry corporate vampires for two hours and I'll buy the ticket. Make the ultimate villain a 70-something woman with a snotty visage and upturned nose, in charge of a studio that she whored and stole from her betters, and I'll watch it twice.
lmao yes please would love to watch Blade vs Marvel studios, anyways don't give the ideas, they might just bring Wesley back to die in his own movie and introduce the female blade lmao.
How about an all female cast from the Pandaverse, and Wesley then kills them?

A fun fact is that Blade 2's action choreography was done by Donnie Yen, one of his very first Hollywood projects!

@@PandaPanda-ud4ne Yup! Does NOT comply with THE MESSAGE!
Never lost the touch. And even tho Blade 3 is arguably a "bad movie", watching him act and fight is more than enough for me... + Jessica Biel 😵💫
The puppet ALF was 10x a better actor :/
Wesley Snipes just used method acting for his role as Blade.
