We're also overlooking WHY the F did his mom inherit the kingdom? The first movie made it pretty darn clear that you had to fight to become the Wakanda ruler. Shit they even did it twice. Yet when he dies all the other men who have tried to claim the throne before just said NAhhhh she'll do fine.
I'm sorry. Wasn't the entire point of the first Black Panther movie that T'Challa comes to realize that Killmonger was right about Wakanda's isolation and hoarding of vibranium was doing more harm to the world than good? T'Challa learns that, despite that extreme measures taken, Killmonger just wanted to have Wakanada see the error of their ways and he honors that by opening Wakanda to the world. And this movie begins with them just backtracking all of that.

Has anyone else noticed that whenever a new female character is shoehorned into a story, the writers put a lampshade over it by having another established character say "I like her." They use this exact same ploy every. Single. Time.
Nope, they use that for male and female character as lazy way to introduce character. You only notice with female character shows your true personality and intention
You remember when Tony stark needed basically millions of dollars worth of tech from his own super advanced weapon provided by terrorist and then also raw material and a forge, and equipement plus months "just" to make his first iron man suit, which is now seen as a bunch of scraps/would be treated as a mini boss or strong fodder enemie in any other show? Thats taking into account Tony being born rich af, his dad being howard stark and having years worth of experience and knowledge, plus the practice (which would have only been doable because of his budget)... But now, a random student can just make sci fi tech from microwaves. Yes, because as we all know, if you rearenge a toaster in the right way, it'll become a quantum computer.
Is it really that strange? Technology advances. What was revolutionary fifteen years ago (in the MCU) has become commonplace now. Once Tony Stark did the hard part of inventing the suit, anyone like Whiplash or Riri can come along and copy their designs.
Not to mention that she can make quantum computers function at room temperature and without expensive helium to cool it. It's not like you can buy tonnes of the stuff and not get noticed a little.

A smart recast would have worked wonders here. Omari Hardwick (Power), Jonathan Majors...even Michael B. Jordan (with crafty writing) would have worked. Hell, if push came to shove, even Bucky the winter soldier could have jumped into the suit. Shuri as BP was boring. She IS snarky enough, but she just doesn't have the screen presence, acting chops or...and I'll say it: the sex appeal to take on such a role.
@@former_dmcrt8614 I honestly think that Bucky would have been the most interesting if done right, it could have been his path to redemption, he could have done the king's duel in shuri/her mom's place and won. And out of gratitude they slowly accept him as a member of their family, maybe he would be obsessed with protecting the royal family as a form of guilt.
Just watched the film. The main problem I just cannot get over is that the wakandans, the most intelligent & advanced humans on earth, bring weapons designed for ground battles to a naval fight. They had the technology and resources to build the most lethal anti-under water weapons like torpedoes & depth charges but no, for the sake of plot convenience (or stupid script writing) you never see them upgrading their weapons to address their battle needs. Another thing that is repeated, not just in Marvel movies, but all television and movies over the past couple of years, is “I got this!”, “You got this!”, and “We got this!”. For real. You’re going to hear it all the time now. I have 3 daughters and I’ve even heard it in kid shows. It proves how bad written dialogue has become. Whenever I hear it now, I immediately stop watching the movie or tv show. It really shows the level of creativity these people have.
One of the issues that I have with the MCU is the following: If everyone can become a hulk (smart hulk) with a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, everyone can pilot an iron man suit, everyone can become black Panter with some herbs etc. etc., why not just creating few tens of thousands of super-hulk soldiers with an iron man suit and the agility of black Panter? Just in case another intergalactic threat comes along.
That's another way Marvel betrayed their creations, a lot of Iron an or Hulk was around the idea they knew what people would do if they had their powers or tech, and therefore refused there would be another Hulk or Iron Man (it was the whole concept of "Armor Wars").
W hulk at least it needed to be a special genetic link for she hulk to get powers. And it now occurs to me how mind boggling stupid Tony was for just casually annihilating dozens of suits in Iron man 3 instead of keeping them saved just in case Thanos comes.
Don’t forget everyone can have the powers of Thor if he so chooses. That might’ve been convenient during Infinity War during the battle of Wakanda I think.
I mean, in the comics there are hundreds of superhumans so mcu eventually doing the same shouldn't be surprising. What did you expect from company that makes up stories about superheroes since 1940's. There is no more originality, copy pasted heroes, fuckton of poor versions of each character, fuckton of ridiculous alternative realities and dimensions. It's all pure stinky chaos now.
Oh your bullshiting yourself the MCU never had that, the point was to profit of movies to continue writing them, really it’s a superhero franchise even in comics theres seldom meaningful stories you’ll find when it comes to this genre. Don’t be blinded by nostalgia superhero movies were never good lmao
It was never good lol overhyped super hero dribble the best was iron man 1 and than only the first half as the bad guy was terrible and I lost interest as soon as he escaped the middle east
M'Baku should be the next Black Panther. Imagine how BEASTLY a suit would look on him, how much power it would project. He arm-wrestled Shuri without consuming the flower.
It would make sense, M'Baku was the natural next leader figure in Wakanda after T'Chala but they're clearly after an agenda and not filming for the happiness of the audience
One huge thing that's becoming blatantly obvious with these franchise films/TV shows is that the people who write and produce them don't have much real-world experience of a lot of the things they're putting in their product. Soooo many flaws & inconsistencies.
that's exactly what I say in my upcoming She Hulk roast. Millennial feminists who dont know what real struggle and oppression is trying to write workplace conflict from inside a Hollywood bubble. The result is as expected: cringe and a total failure.
@@SarcasticPlotRecaps I wouldn't even go as far as feminists, in particular. Just people in general. Theres no struggle, no adversity in these peoples lives! They've spent forever in the education/college/University bubble & haven't lived or worked.
If the king is dead, according to the first film, there must be a competition to establish the new king. Or can anyone challenge the queen in combat and win the title of ruler of Wakanda? I'm really confused right now.
The film shows that with the chaos of losing T’Challa, the tribes turned to the Queen for stability After the finale, they did go for the trial by combat, but Shuri never had interest and just let M’Baku get it. She’s still Black Panther, which was a separate role, as seen in Civil War when an elderly T’Chaka was still alive.
I'm gonna say it. John Walker did NOTHING wrong by killing that dude in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They magically forgot that every single one of their heroes has killed before since villains are expendable in these films unless they're Loki. They could have gotten around the death of the line of kings so easily in this film just by making Nakia pregnant at the start of the film. It easily could have been handwaved that she married T'Challa. Hell, they handwave everything else. We lose T'Challa but there is still hope for the future in his son. Maybe instead of pointlessly dying for Riri, his mother would have died to save Nakia and the baby. Why can't this just be a story of a family dealing with the loss of their brother, son, and husband? Oh right. PRODUCT!!! We don't even need RiRi Williams in the MCU since they gave Tony a daughter. Just jump ahead a bit and let her take the reins. Or just have Pepper standing in for him for a while, carrying on his legacy. God, there are so many places they could go and they always choose the shitty one.
Outside of, uh, the reply above, aging the daughter up would require a lot of antics. They're trying to move on with a group of high school age kids essentially taking the reins of the MCU. America, Kamala, Shuri, Peter, uh whatever Ant-Man's kid is named probably(i didn't watch the newest movie i'll be honest). Groot, I guess? The only two answers are: A) Age *everyone* up. Admittedly, this would be pretty cool. Spiderman would be older and more seasoned, while Iron Man's daughter would be young and inexperienced. It'd be an interesting role reversal to see Peter Parker try and mentor his own mentor's child, while all of the new generation of Marvel heroes tries to reckon with their predecessors' ideologies and their own. That would mean recasting literally everyone except Groot though, and I doubt Marvel wants to do that and lose. B) Age *her* specifically. They probably could find some weird science nonsense reason to do it, but it'd be hard to get people on board. That being said, they've likely done more absurd things that we have just sat and accepted. I guess they could also have her get a suit at age 12, but I don't know how well that'd work out. You're right about Pepper though. I don't know why we're getting Riri, or why an Iron-Man stand-in is even necessary

3:03 Just noticed something. Here, she cuts the bottom bit off of the soldier's magazine. The soldier then fires at least three more shots from his magazine, attempting to hit her. Disregarding all of the EXTENSIVE other problems with this fight--the bottom of the magazine is where the spring is attached. The follower is pushed upwards by that spring. The follower is pushed, by the spring, into the cartridges in the magazine, feeding them upwards into the firing chamber. With that spring attachment gone, or even with the spring damaged in any way, that magazine would have IMMEDIATELY stopped working, the cartridges probably would have all fallen out of the bottom, and no more rounds would have been chambered, meaning he would have been able to fire one more shot, if that. But nope. Glorious. Phenomenal review as always, ya big lush XD
Namor is a character from the comics, and in the comics is considered a power. He basically fought the Hulk and the Fantastic 4 to a draw. Originally he was a hero, teaming up with Captain America to fight the Nazis, but then became a villain as he threatened the surface world partly because of what we do to them, but then later was a hero who sometimes joined the Defenders. At his worst, he planned to conquer the surface world, don't think he ever considered extermination. Making him Hispanic is supposed to be a metaphor for the USA.
Just a small point. He's not Hispanic. He's an actual native Central American (Mayan to be exact if that's correct), so I'm not sure if you can take that as a metaphor for the US.

My main gripe was that they manufactured a new country Wakanda could go to war with, so they wouldn't disrupt the world order set up in the universe. As someone who's worked in the filmmaking industry for too many years, in VFX/Post, it's always amazing to me that anything cohesive from Marvel even makes it to final edit. All of these big budget high profile FX heavy movies are written by one committee, designed by a 2nd committee, produced by a 3rd committee, directed by a 4th committee, edited by a 5th committee, then distributed/marketed by yet another committee. Each of whom have their own separate agendas and ideas, and barely communicate with each other. Not to mention the multiple teams of lawyers, 200 layers of approval on every little thing, then some clueless studio head randomly coming in at the last minute to play "Director" and demand changes!
Exactly, there is no cohesion between the artistry/VFX department. AT ALL. There are like 5 different studios working on one movie, all held down by legalities and union contracts.
@@tonydak8573 There are no unions in VFX, we are an industry of scabs. What you're referring to, is that there's usually one main big studio who wins the VFX bid on the show, who then sub out different parts to other smaller VFX studios - with varying quality. The head/lead VFX Supervisors are supposed to be QC on the whole show, but sometimes you simply run out of time. 75% of the VFX work gets done in the last 25% of time left before the delivery deadline. That's usually down to those committees I was referring to making more work for us than they aught to, generally d*cking around, being indecisive, and burning the budget and schedule.
What also bothers me is that ocean men gave his most emotional valuable possession, his mothers bracelet, to Shuri. True, plot convince l guess, that didn't make sense to me, felt so personal myb he thought it would get her on his side but damn ocean man holding a L for that one
It's explained by Namore why he did what he did. I hate how little CD misinforms his audience, find him funny if you want but he does do a disservice to the audience.
Man, this film misses Chadwick Boseman soooo bad. None of the cast can hope to hold a candle to him, and this is reinforced by Michael B Jordan's cameo. The dude steals the whole film in that scene cos he has more charisma in his little finger than the rest of the characters.
Aside from the T'Challa scenes, that was the only part in the film that actually blew me away. I was so bored at that point and totally expected Shuri's mother to tell her she's done so beautifully and sending her on her marry way to defeat Namor, and then the shot went on a bit long and I thought I'll be T'Chaka maybe. But then I was hit with THAT. Michael B. Jordan. The scene stayed completely true to his character, and it doesn't try to paint him as redeemed or misunderstood. It perfectly expresses Shuri's struggle with tradition VS science as well as her struggle between T'Challa's peace and Killmonger's rage without sounding like cheap exposition to the audience. It represented the devil on Shuri's shoulder. And then it's all finally resolved when Shuri sees her mother in the spirit realm at the end. If every scene was like this one, it would get the Drinker's Recommendation
What do you expect from these companies? They sit with their ass on the back of the audience, and the way they hook you is with visual and emotional manipulation, which, by the way, is the drug used by the ordinary people after exhausting work weeks.

It was a cheap outcome with terrible casualties and they just brush it off like her attitude as a leader and protector didn’t even matter at all… And one point out of all that I agree with you Drinker, is that Shuri doesn’t fit the role of black Panther because of her goofy character, I literally can’t picture or take her serious at any scene because she just doesn’t look serious, she looks goofy, fragile, like she is waiting to tell a joke
Everything you just mentioned is exactly why she allowed M'baku to challenge for the throne since he has better judgement. She went to Haiti to giving wakanda further problems.

She felt like she was barely in the movie and it's because they put so little time and effort into making her important that her initial importance felt so shallow as the story moved forward.
Its really sad how we when from "Holy crap ____ is out in theaters tomorrow!" to "oh great another marvel movie. Whatever." in just a few years time. We used to be excited to see our favorite comic book hero's come to life on the big screen but now we watch in horror or indifference to what they do to them now.
I don't know man, by the time The MCU had become a cinema juggernaut, the comics were already repulsively woke. I remember thinking, with every new release "will this be the one that catches up with the comics' politics?"
She was there. Namor was saying something along the lines of "Mourn now, because we will come back" while shuri was screaming, crying, and attempting to run towards her dying mother while Dora Milaje was holding her back.
@@jonathanalonso6492 That was after, she wasn't actually there when she drowned, I know for a fact she was inside the ship then made her way to her, by then she was already unconscious.
I completely laughed out loud, exactly like a crazy person ( due to the fact that I was alone, at the time ), when you said, "Lock him in a room, with some heaters, to dry him out". Priceless, brother!
I just watched this movie after the Disney plus release and I feel like Riri could have been removed from the movie and it wouldn't change a single thing. She's shown to be really intelligent but doesn't even do anything to show it
the first part of the movie, T'challa's funeral, felt heart filled and like they were trying to honor not only him but his now passed actor. then they immediately shit of everything he sought out to do.which was sharing what Wakanda had and building foreign relationships.
They were stricken with grief and the movie points out at the beginning why they are distrustful of other nations when they were going to help them out which is literally after the funeral. Plus part of Shuri's arc with dealing with grief also related to how she felt about the world which is noted when she talks to her mother before meeting Namor, and the conversation she has with Killmonger also highlights this.
@@EricHernandez-vx8cv Isn't the distrust of outsiders thing just a bit of a pointless retread of one of the main through lines of the first movie? That's how it sounds to me at least
If it doesnt have to be Roasts-of-Hollywood, try "Some More News". Guy can genuinly be funny while talking about Problems, local or global, and People, local or global. If it has to be Movie-themed, he only has his Popcorn-Movie where he explores much of what C-Drinker talked about before.
The drying up the bad guy to weaken him part wasn't bad as an idea. The problem is that the power levels fluctuate too much even during the same movie, so for no reason at all he couldn't just punch through the ship to free himself when earlier he was shown throwing and cutting planes in half.
That's what I was thinking - and he eventually sort of did exactly that. I would think sucking out all air from that chamber would work better and dry him out even faster, but I'm not a genius prodigy engineer, so what do I know. What bothered me is... weren't all those Wakandan toys made of vibranium? How could Namor slice through them just like that in the final battle or before that during the attack on Wakanda? Even if his spear was vibranium too - does vibranium cut vibranium?
@@Peterski vibranium can cut vibranium. Also Namor in general in the ultimate universe (Which is what the MCU is based on) is one of the strongest characters there. So he'd have little trouble doing that. The issue is that Namor has varying levels of power in the movie that sort of downplay him. Only reason why he lost at all was because he's the villain and he had to lose, but if he wasn't? Probably could have been different if they let him use 100% of his powers. Fun fact though, there is only one other metal on earth that can cut vibranium and that's adamantium, the same metal found in Wolverine's claws.
@@digitalduken9973 wouldn’t this make Namor stronger than Thanos then? Thanos had to attack Cap’s shield maybe over 5 times just to cut off about half. Meanwhile Namor was just cutting through several aircrafts made of the same stuff as the shield. He put his spear through the ship severely damaging it, and was in fact punching the ship, Shuri had to come in and try and stop him from destroying it.

Great review. I thought this movie was awful. So many plot holes. Why would Namor need the help of Wakanda to fight the US who has no Vibranium, then get into a war with Wakanda??? It would have been great to see the Winter Soldier in this movie instead of the 19 year old scientist/student whose existence completely disrespects Tony Stark
Yes I agree that Namor should have had a better storyline because the one that they wrote doesn’t make sense at all. If that was the case they should have put another villain in because Namor has so much potential.
My biggest confusion with his plan was simply why. Like, they clearly were able to easily protect their home. Why go to war with the "surface world" when NONE of the people down there (Except Namor himself) could even breathe above water?
@lulu Namor is a dick in the comics who is always on the brink of war with the surface world. He is like anti-hero Dr. Doom. They attacked Wakanda because they confirmed the existence of vibraium in great quantities. Because they could not steal from Wakanda they searched for other sources and the only other source is Talokan. Their main protection is being unknown. The underlying story was how vengeance causes destructive descions. Namor and Shuri mirrored that and why her letting him live was her letting go of vengeance.
"it's okay when we do it" perfectly summarizes the writers' and their target audience (i.e. the twitter mob) thought process, if it can even be called that.
Let's face it that is nowhere near just a twitter thing. Conservatives and conservative christians have shown zero problem stripping freedoms like choice away, have committed terrorist bombings, their leaders take advantage of their follower base, etc. Theyve also loooooong been free speech killers in the name of "morals". Idk why people started to forget this and ignore this when we have decades of comedians and shows pushing the boundaries against those people and their insane control/hypocrisy/etc. "When we do it" is the justification for more than just twitter groups

@@jdv7359 I agree with you that it didn’t have as much up front woman>man moments but when it comes to the “woke” parts of this movie it mainly falls on the randomly placed bits of critical race theory that added nothing to the plot.
they didn't explicitly say they would share vibranium. They said that it was time to look after one another then it cuts to a guy asking what they have to offer. While it may have been assumed it was vibranium, once nations tried attacking outpost to obtain it themselves especially after the death of their king all bets were off which is why she marches the mercenaries in to prove a point. wakanda has several outreach programs and was essential to the battle during infinity war so it's not like they have not been helping this whole time.
The only reason they chose shuri is because she’s the black panther in the comics; however, her character traits are also completely different in the comics. For one, the intelligence that shuri is known for is supposed to be t challa’s (although he is much more logical and serious with it). Building on that, her comic form is much more of a warrior trying to be the black panther and lives in his shadow
At least you care about some black people in a damn comic. Aint no one even comment on this thread cause this is a channel that spreads h a t e f u l speech and this channel is also an Echochamber.
@@justlivin2499 did you not read the OP about how the movie version of shuri is nothing like the comics and that it doesn't make as much sense in the MCU? The same applies for Killmonger but 10fold because he's a nationalist imperialistic homicidal lunatic.
Regardless of what ppl may think about this movie, if it was good or bad. The performances are extremely personal and moving all around, but Angela Bassett delivers a powerhouse performance. This movie wasn’t even acting, it was pure emotion from the cast mourning of Chadwick in the movie and in real life. The emotions, the pain and tears within Actors and characters have been shown to be beautiful. This movie did the best way of respectfully honoring Chadwick. And this movie delivered. Such a Beautiful, fantastic, emotional, heartfelt film and tribute film to the late Chadwick Boseman. I will forever cherish this movie and the work these people have done. Thank you to the cast, developers, director, and especially, Chadwick Boseman. May you rest in peace, Black Panther.
'Needed to be fully rewritten' was mentioned several times, and this is my favorite critique. It explains why the movie has pacing problems and is longer than expected, it's honest without being overly mean, and gives a suggestion to make the movie better. That's a good review!
You forgot to mention a key part at the end: Fishman smugly tells his mopey lackey that Wakanda will someday come begging them for help. A sentiment echoed at the very beginning when lady panther and Namor first meet to discuss terms of a truce or partnership. Meaning he came to the same conclusion they'd talked briefly about before wasting everyone's time for nearly 3 hours. "Hey remember at the beginning when I proposed we form an alliance so nobody would fuck with us and you said NO? Neither does anyone else watching or even writing this movie, apparently." When that scene happened near the end, I genuinely blurted out WHAT during the movie. It's like the writers had completely forgotten to tone they'd set with that first conversation near the beginning of the movie when they wrote this final scene near the end.
But didn't he say that if Wakanda said no to the alliance, they would be the first to be attacked. So, why would they join. Also, Shuri wasn't in charge, it was the queen that was in charge and she seemed more willing to talk, but it never seem like Wakanda was ever going to join.
Well Timm.. clearly Namor's intention at the beginning of the film is to go on the offensive and attack the surface world, he gave Wakanda an ultimatum and seeked them out as an ally in their quest.. That's a bit different then the Wakanda being attacked and blamed by the rest of the world (who are still don't know about Namor's people existence). Since they failed defeating Wakanda head on, they can leverage and execute their original plan if the rest of the world is dumb enough to attack Wakanda. Can't you see the difference?
This is really funny. Your comments about how Riri is regarded in the movies is the ONE time Marvel actually follows the comics. Riri is the most overhyped "hero" Marvel comics ever produced. Everything about her screams "Villain," but they continue to tell her and everyone else how wonderful and special she is.
@@maisey-2000 She demands that her teacher tell her she cant be a hero...so that she can be motivated by ego to prove the teacher wrong. But the teacher is like, :"Why would I do that to you?" Riri keeps pushing until the teacher says, "You wont be tony stark." to placate the girl even though the teacher clearly doesnt mean it as a bad thing since stark is about the highest bar possible. The movie references this but in a way that way less combative and way less insanely narcissistic. Ii didnt mind the way they did the character here. If she was like this in the comics she might have been muych more well received
I just watched this movie and came straight here, knowing you'd done this video. I had high hopes at the start, but if anything, this movie highlights how little Marvel cares about the relationships between characters. Riri's introduction scene reminded me so much of Tony Stark showing up at Peter Parker's house in Civil War, even down to "I can't go to Germany, I have... homework" and "I can't go to Wakanda, I've got class in fifteen minutes", but there was none of the connection that Tony and Peter had. I thought they'd develop her relationships with Okoye and Shuri throughout the movie, but I don't think she had a single scene with Okoye after the car chase, and she just felt like a spare part in all of her scenes with Shuri. Then there's Shuri and Namor, where there were all the parts and the chemistry for a story about two people who feel deeply connected to one another and make unlikely allies, but are ultimately doomed to never trust each other's motivations enough for an actual friendship (or more) to develop, but they cut it down to the bare essentials... in a three hour movie. And don't get me started on the actions scenes, that had me going "ohhhh this is gonna be good" and then "... oh, that's it?", or the excessive slow motion.
Also I wholeheartedly appreciate your admiration of Angela Basset’s figure, I swear she’s actually her Marie Laveaux character from AHS coven - she DOES NOT age
I think a recast of T'challa was needed, I felt Namor was fine, and even Menacing at times, but it clashed with the scenes where you thought for a second that maybe he was going to try and court Shuri, only for him to 180 at the end of it. I think, a Recast could of been done, and you use Namor to kill T'challa, where he dies after stopping Namor, and doing something that makes Namor see the error of his ways. Then In the next movie, if you are going to use Shuri, then you go about making her the Panther then. I think the character that dies in this movie, also could of survived it and then you move her death to next movie. The movie drags on, but when it gets going it hits in rapid succession with things not giving you time to really take them in. Like he said 3 movies cut into one film. I disagree with his take on the comedy, i think it landed for the most part, and that wasn't just every 5 minutes to the point that the movie was a parody. unlike some other shows and movies done by the MCU. I think Ironheart has the chance to be a good character, but little time is spent building her up. Instead you get the John Wick Build up where everyone around her talks her up, but with little time on her you don't get to know her, and because all of this happens like drinker said she is just the plot point. we are suppose to believe that the Atlanteans are just as strong and as advanced as Wakada, but little is done to prove this.
The second movie shouldn't have been made. There's no place for it, and it shows. Chadwick WAS BP. Trying to replace him just simply won't work, especially with this woke garbage.
No, we don't. We need honest reviewers that aren't making their minds up before they sit down in the theater. This 'review' is utterly BS to the point I'm wondering if he actually saw the right movie or got black out drunk and made it up in his head. This was one of the better Marvel movies and it had an impossible task that it did in a fantastic way. You... people need to get your heads out of your ass and stop hating on everything Marvel just because its the cool thing to do right now.
You know, I used to think that Shuri becoming Black Panther would be cool to see simply because she’s so not suited for the role so she’d need a huge character arch. The trouble is, the writers aren’t good enough to pull it off.
Shuri should have had a Tony and Peter vibe with Riri. Maybe, Shuri is now working in one of their outreach centers and can't bring herself to go back to Wakanda and Riri is her annoying but brilliant assistant. She has to be the T'Challa to a new Shuri. This way, you can also develop Riri as a character. The pieces are all right there. The writers are just not smart enough to put them together.
the writing for her was all over the place. she said she wanted to "burn the world" after t'challa died from natural illness that wasn't anyone's fault. and she fucking jeopardized her entire nation to protect riri who she barely knows. and what was the result? she lost her mother. yeah she fucking deserved that. there's plenty of idealistic children who thinks they can "save everyone" in films but when someone that naive is part of royalty or in a position of power they become RESPONSIBLE for other people's lives and they have to go through a hard wake-up call on how cruel reality is. but we NEVER see her regret her actions or blame herself, instead she does a complete 180 and risk even more lives to get revenge. wtf
and EVEN more unforgivable was how the QUEEN of wakanda who has decades of experience as a ruler risked going to war with namor by demanding he hand over riri who she never even MET before. that simply isnt realistic. no president or government or king in the real world would EVER risk going to war and putting their people's lives at risk for a stranger they never met

Gotta agree with Angela Basset being the best part of this train wreck. 64? I see her in so many things and had no idea she was that old. Damn she looks good for that. She should definitely be the next true Black Panther. You have to admit, that would bring serious crowds
Seeing how T'Chala's ex was the one to push him into opening up Wakanda you would think that SHE is best suited to carrying on his legacy. As well as being the head warrior for another tribe (shown in the first movie, during the king-making ceremony), so it's not like she would be chosen haphazardly. Instead they shoe-horn in the genius kid sister with zero combat experience who already has an important, non-combatant role based on the previous movies. This could have been a good movie, but I imagine whoever is in charge decided to rush it out the gate half-cocked.
You don’t understand. They have to paint all blacks people as big brained scientists so they had to force her in so they can have a big brain black to force down the throat in the name of diversity.
Why would u ever think nakia would be queen? She and Tchalla weren't even married, she has no claim to the throne. And its not lie she would want it anyways. Shuri had battle training from a young age, she just fathered be a scientist.
tbh i was expecting nakia to be the new black panther, even if she isnt in line for the throne. i thought the black panther coukdve been reinvented into a protector alongside the leaders of wakanda. didnt really like how shuri was fprced into the role only cause she is the sole surviving member of the royal family.
I GOTTA admit that seeing Suri defeat Namor as she was a rookie BP with NO ACTUAL combat experience like her brother who fought Killmonger!both Captain America and Bucky lol and in Infinity War plus Endgame.
“And when everyone’s super… no-one will be.”

Tony's daughter is the wrong color. Not diverse enough.
The only two answers are:
A) Age *everyone* up.

I feel the problem with Riri wasn't the fact that she was important, it's the fact that the movie didn't try and make her important. It introduced her and we had the police chase sequence and then the movie just moved away from her completely and she was never focused on. She felt like she was barely in the movie and it's because they put so little time and effort into making her important that her initial importance felt so shallow as the story moved forward.

They were stricken with grief and the movie points out at the beginning why they are distrustful of other nations when they were going to help them out which is literally after the funeral. Black panther 2… “bilbo baggins was out jogging in the woods when shiri & okoyas mosquito drone attacks him”
The drying up the bad guy to weaken him part wasn't bad as an idea. The problem is that the power levels fluctuate too much even during the same movie, so for no reason at all he couldn't just punch through the ship to free himself when earlier he was shown throwing and cutting planes in half.

Neither does anyone else watching or even writing this movie, apparently."
When that scene happened near the end, I genuinely blurted out WHAT during the movie. It's like the writers had completely forgotten to tone they'd set with that first conversation near the beginning of the movie when they wrote this final scene near the end.
The CHARACTER T'Challa wanted it a different way. He's gone and now his nation is going a different way.
But didn't he say that if Wakanda said no to the alliance, they would be the first to be attacked. So, why would they join. Also, Shuri wasn't in charge, it was the queen that was in charge and she seemed more willing to talk, but it never seem like Wakanda was ever going to join.
This man just called Mabel Cardena's Namora a "mopey lackey" ....your whole argument is invalid lmao
Well Timm.. clearly Namor's intention at the beginning of the film is to go on the offensive and attack the surface world, he gave Wakanda an ultimatum and seeked them out as an ally in their quest..

Agreed
You don’t understand. They have to paint all blacks people as big brained scientists so they had to force her in so they can have a big brain black to force down the throat in the name of diversity.
She's literally next in line for the throne though? It's how monarchies work
Why would u ever think nakia would be queen?
VS Namor who can hold his own against the HULK, was like seeing a FIRST YEAR female martial arti student defeat BRUCE LEE in a one on one fight. Made no fucking sense! NEXT RiRi Williams/ Iron Heart will defeat Rodey/ War Machine in a battle. Just because it has to be that way. BS!!
Except, she used her intelligence not brute force. She had already weaken him and then she burnt him further weaken him. It wasn't about skill or strength.
@@CalvinKalisto we get it, you loved the movie and you’re determined to defend it from all criticism even if it’s valid
Did you forget she was granted the black panther power ? Lmao what do you expect bro its a superhero movie the hero is coming out on top always
@@gaijinhakase1575 except it isn't valid. Namor was weakened to all shit. She knew she couldn't win conventionally
@@timmyturtles9670 uh black panther powers comes from the plant
U know the plant that Mister Manykill destroyed?
The same plant that was needed to cure tchalla?
The extinct plant?
Without that u wont get the superhuman speed strength durability and all that stuff
