I never commented but I just wanna say thank you for making such amazing videos and exploring to places that tourists may not know about. It gives me a lot of motivation to go back to Korea for a different experience. 💕
cari cakes cari cakes Aw thanks for remembering me on twitter. 💕 I wish I could come back soon but it will take a while since I just started my first job. I major in marketing as well so it was nice knowing someone who actually works in what I study in another country. Thank you for all the content! :)
This was one of my favorite vlogs so far! Your did such a splendid job with the editing, you just really captured the energy of this place! My favorite part.. was your infectious smile! ☺️ I couldn't help but smile through the whole video! Gotta say though, not only were those performances impressive, but in that heat...oh my gosh! They are incredible athletes!
I have very fond memories of the Folk Village from our first (and only, so far) visit to Korea. It was the last trip the family got to spend with my grandfather before he passed. Took a picture of him by one of the thatched roof houses, he was holding his video recorder. It’s like his camera was part of his arm, tbh. He would’ve made a great vlogger in another life. I miss him and just feel all the feels after stumbling upon this video. Hope you’re well, Cari! 💕
Oh this was such a wonderful vlog! It really reminded me of the times I went to the Renaissance Fair~ I had a wonderful time watching it ☺️💕 thank you for making it and taking you along!
I went here the first time i went to Korea but it was in the winter so it was cold! But it was still beautiful and the shows were amazing! I loved the horseback riding! The girls were so pretty and awesome! That was my first time going that far away from main Seoul during my first trip! I look forward to seeing more trips like these from you Cari! The candy was so good! Thanks Cari!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh my, this video is beautiful, Cari! I've always been so mesmerized by all of Korea's traditional culture--definitely adding this to my list of places to visit next time I need a trip out of the city!
Loved it. It looks so rural even though it's only an hour away from Seoul. I think I liked all performances, but would also spend some time enjoying tea and strolling through the area. Thank you so much for sharing!
I grew up riding horses. I can ride with and without a saddle. Growing up doing tricks, rodeos etc. I come from ranchers and I'm part Comanche . I'm very good with horses and other animals. Use to go hunting using bows and arrows. Horses are such great animals. They will do all kinds of things with you, if they trust you. Seeing this made me smile. I miss riding so much. Ever once in a while when I'm having a good day, friends let me ride the horses. They understand that I have part of a dead side due to my stroke. So, the horses know how to take care of me. Thanks again for making me smile!
okay you definitely beat me ;))) i used to go trial riding whenever i could but in korea you can only really ride at proper equestrian training places (and riding english saddle, bleh!!) so when i was back in america i made sure to get time in for a little trail riding :) horses are amazing!
They really did a great job in making everything look authentic. In most shots, it looks like you just popped out of a time machine. Overall, great job with the video. Felt like I was there myself. Well except for the heat and the smell-o-vision at the barn. I bet that guy with the shovel drew the short straw for that day. hahaha!!! And for some reason, that food court looks exactly like one of those beer garden at Oktoberfest. And I noticed that carving in "one of these things is not like the other" Yikes :o Japan actually have a parade/festival on that thing. Folks parade through the streets carrying those carvings of various sizes. I thought that was interesting. :o After the initial shock wore off of course. hahaha!!!!
theres apparently an entire park dedicated to those statues somewhere in gangwon ahahah and that village is seriously amazing, especially since i had the place to myself in the morning!! cant suggest it highly enough!!!
Your instagram stories got me so hyped up waiting for this video so much and it was totally worth it. The village looks so much fun, i really love traditional places like this. My favorite one was totally the tightrope guy (+ the lady trying to take the selfie lol ) .
What a wonderful share! Thank you, Cari! I have to say, all of the performances were really fun and I most enjoyed the sense of humor of the tightrope artist. Plus, you got that cute moment with the woman and the selfie-stick. :-) My new name is melting in the low desert! The fires, the heat, causing so much angst and strife. NOW Canada! Cooler air is on the way!
Count me in on that pavilion session haha! I love your vlogs 😘. Will be visiting Seoul again next month and our itinerary is like inspired by all the places you went to. Thank you for always sharing.
Thank you so much for your videos. I am planning a solo trip to Seoul in Nov (its my 1st solo trip EVER!) and your videos really gives me ideas on what to include on my trip. Thank you ❤
Thank you so much for recommending this place! I'm studying in Korea and took my family here when they came to visit. They loved it, especially the dog dance and it's been their favourite experience here 💖
Omg the older lady and the tightrope walker were so funny. This looks like such a lovely place to go! Honestly, you're making my list of places to go in SK waaaaay too long. I can't wait to go back~
cari cakes God bless your beautiful soul, Cari! Love, love, love and your passionate with kindness which strikes me the most. You inspire me on many levels of how beautiful our daily life can be with the touch of honesty and heart warming messages! Cari's caring awesome human being! 🤗
I visited this place ages ago when I was a child and went to Korea with my mum. I loved it so much back then🙂 Sadly I didn‘t go there in 2016 or last year.....but will make sure to visit again when I‘m back in Seoul!! I just love folk villages like that💕
I will forever remember this place because on the way there, I lost my camera on the bus lol cried the whole time i was walking around there (so childish!) so i wasnt able to enjoy the many many MANY beautiful things at the village
About the ahjuma story, i have something to share haha. I took a bus from Ulsan to Seoul and an ahjuma sat next to me. Everything was pretty normal until we stoped by the resting area and she bought kimbap. I don't know if I seemed hungry or what, out of nowhere she started feeding me kimbap. It was so embarrassing, yet pretty funny and i was grateful because it was so delicious. I heard some foreigners complain about koreans being rude or cold persons and also heard some korean friends talk about how korean don't like foreigners, specially the elders, but everyone was so lovely and kind to me. I wanna go back to Korea the soonest.
Those performances were amazing! Thanks for sharing a little bit of it with us. I'm sad I didn't do anything like this last time I came to Korea. Next time I'll be more adventurous :)
I really love this video! It didn't even look crowded while you were there which I would love ❤ You were able to take your time and observe your surroundings! Take in mother nature 😊I absolutely loved those people on those horses by the way , I would be memorized by them hehe
I'm just watching this video but I wanted to say that you look so genuinely happy in this video and it makes me want come to Korea all the more! Thanks fr sharing this.
Suwon!!! I had Chimek at the street market there for the first time... (drool) I think the FV is a popular school field trip destination. When I went in May, it was packed with students... even before it opened(jealous). But I did get to see a joseon drama being shot while at the FV:)
Definitely adding this to my itinerary next time I visit Seoul. I love Korean culture so this would be perfect and it seems like a good place for me to also practice all the Korean that I'm learning! 감사합니다 카리!
I thought I'd like the horses best, but I really liked the dancers. It's so interesting that so many "traditional" dances seem to have similar styles or similar movements - I mean I'm sure they're all very different, but they seem similar to an outsider. ... Anyone have any thoughts or ideas or facts on this?? Curious now.
This folk village looks so fun & lovely! So many of your videos have featured places I've never thought to visit & now I'm working a few into my itinerary 🌻 Thank you for the trip inspo!
How cool! This is definitely on my list, when I will visit Soutkorea one day. Thank you for sharing this! I love artistic performances. Everything was my favourite. :)
My favourite part has to be the funny tightrope ahjussi and the moment the ahjumma ran out with her selfie stick, lol. And oh gosh, horse poop catching =p I think I've seen that cow in a variety show......totally don't remember the name of it cause it was from a few years back. Oh acorn jelly, love that stuff! Strangely refreshing on a hot day. I think I read your mind, "how are they not dizzy!?" Then again fun fact I picked up somewhere is that for those who do a lot of spinning whether it be ballet, gymnastics etc....they learn to focus on one point while they're spinning and apparently that keeps them from getting dizzy. Sounds tough!
i knew that from ballet too so i was watching their eyes and it just didnt make sense hahah i could NOT figure out how they werent losing their minds muahhahaha
mum and dad used to take me to these folk village performances when I was little. I hope they're open in winter. It's 2 in the morning here and I could kill a bibimbap!! you were chewing on a hobak yut btw.
I really really really really LOVE your vlogs! ✨❤️✨ I recently discovered your channel whilst researching for places to visit when in Korea. And... Honestly, your channel is by far the most informative and entertaining to watch (and do research at the same time) so, Thank you very much! Sending love from the Philippines. ❤️🥰❤️
Hello from New York! What a pleasant surprise to find your vlog on the Korean folk village. My daughter and I are traveling to Seoul in June and this is one of the places we are planning on visiting. From Seoul, is it a subway ride and bus to the folk village? BTW, are you shooting your vlogs on your iPhone? The quality is amazing.
omg the horse back riding show looked sooo cool! I was totally speechless when they did those tricks getting off the horse and back on while the horse was running 😱😱😱 and the guy who couldn‘t get back on his horse at first made me crack up lmao poor dude 😂 but yeah this place must be so cool to visit I really love hanboks and the temples and just the traditions and all so it would be so cool to visit this place myself one day when I go to korea
hehehe well those guys put me to shame thats for sure! the only "problem" with my appaloosa Gypsy was that she was SO TALL. So getting on/off her all day at camp for a tiny 6th grader was a challenge to say the least >.
cari cakes those dang tall horses lol Indeed those guys and gals put me to shame as well. I’d love to trick ride with my Morgan but his attention span isn’t so good (or his patience) lol >.
suwon!!! that's not far from where my bf lived! there's also a, uh, toilet museum there that i didn't visit but my bf's family did and they liked it hahaha. anyway i loved this video, this is high on my list of places to go! and i'm really glad i watched this early in the morning, it put me in such a good mood!
The Korean-American church I went to when I was a kid had someone come over and teach the kids how to play those traditional instruments. I had the drum with the short stick. Not the big one with the long thin stick and the stings. The person taught the kids a short number that we performed for our parents. We even dressed up in the traditional costumes. But obviously we didn't do the elaborate spinning around part since most of us would've passed out.
Thank you filming this nicely shot video. My mom took me to Suwon Folk Village way back in 1986. It looks exactly the same as I remembered it. Your video brought back some childhood memories. Great work!
I'm moving back to Korea next Monday and have been binge watching your videos. This place looks so neat! I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks so much for sharing!
Korean 아줌마 and 아저씨 are honestly so kind. I've been to Korea twice and both those trips we were always taken care of by these grandmas and grandpas. They would help us find our way when we got lost and would tell us to sit whenever we were standing in the subway. The 아저씨 security guard of the airbnb we stayed in on our 1st trip was also really nice. We visited him again on our 2nd trip even though we didn't stay in the same airbnb haha. He even remembered us 😢❤
Ahh! It's so pretty and green there! Thank you so much for another lovely and calming video, Cari! 💚 My mom and I were cracking up at the 아줌마 with her selfie stick! I want her confidence! 😂
I really wanted to make a joke about 2:17, but I got nothing appropriate for your channel :-p Seriously though, thanks for bringing us along to this wonderful location! Definitely looks like it’s worth a visit!
I was there just a few weeks ago and really loved it! We didn't have that much time so we couldn't see the horse back riding, but watched some of the dancing (one of our friends actually got chosen for the plate spinning :D) and part of a traditional wedding :) it was also very hot though and I felt sorry for the dancers having to jump around in their costumes^^ would love to go again with some more time to look around :)
omg i would have been so embarrassed if i was called up to do the plate thing hahahah and i was so worried for the dancers too! the one guy who was breakdancing looked like he was about to faint ㅠㅠ
I honestly love you and your channel so, so much! I've been watching your videos for a few months now, and I just love the frequency of your uploads! It's so nice to experience Korea with you, and your videos usually make me feel very calm and... Inspired? It's just all so beautiful. And the Folk Village was soooo gorgeous! Thank you for showing us ♡♡
My favorite part was the sassy Ajussi on the tightrope! But that greyish/roanish appaloosa stole my heart (I too am a horse girl lol). Another great vlog!
wow, this place goes straight onto my list too... I should just take a whole year off and go explore Korea. My favorite part was you chillin' with the pretty cow ;) but really, everything there just looks so beautiful and the shows seem so much fun to watch! I guess there weren't many people because they wanted to avoid the heat? So thank YOU for going out there despite the heat and humidity to make this video for us!
Ive been planning to go there for ages!:D watching your video i want to go there even more. It looks much better then i thought it would be. Need to stop by this time for sure since im staying in Suwon:) did you go alone or with bf? Is it ok to go alone or is it bettet to go with someone?
영어를 잘하는편이 아니라 내용을 완전히 이해할순없만, 한국에 와서 늘 아름다운 영상을 보여줘서 너무 고마워요 ;) I m not good at speaking English so i cant understand everything, but thank you for making these beautiful videos 😍
This place is DEFINITELY on my list! I'll be living close to there starting Aug 26th so I will make sure to visit. My favorite would have the be the horses. I've always wanted to ride but never really had an opportunity. I just love everything about the Folk villages! Thank you for another great video!
Definitely can also picture myself as noble living a beautiful Hanok house and drawing in the summer pavilion near the river, while listening to the cicadas 😊.
Thank you. It was entertaining and beautifully edited. I don’t know if i will have enough time to visit this when I will go to Suwon for only one day. But, I put this village in my wish list.
I never commented but I just wanna say thank you for making such amazing videos and exploring to places that tourists may not know about. It gives me a lot of motivation to go back to Korea for a different experience. 💕
ㅠㅠㅠㅠ thank YOU! Hope you can come back here really soon and thanks again for the twitter share!^^

I was here when I was in Korea visiting in the autumn and this is truly a great day trip for anyone , especially families !

항상 감사합니다 ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
So true! I have also long admired Cari's reporting style. Music is always fine.

Oh my, this video is beautiful, Cari! I've always been so mesmerized by all of Korea's traditional culture--definitely adding this to my list of places to visit next time I need a trip out of the city!
its really a great stop!! hope you can see it soon~
Loved it. It looks so rural even though it's only an hour away from Seoul. I think I liked all performances, but would also spend some time enjoying tea and strolling through the area. Thank you so much for sharing!
You running and twirling amongst the silk hangings was such a magical and free moment, thanks for sharing that with us!
Trail riding is the best. I just adore your vlogs so much!
I'm SO GLAD that our Professor included this video in our Introduction to Korean Asian Studies class!
한국인인데도 한국민속촌 한번도 가본적이 없는데 덕분에 저도 가고싶은 마음이 생겼네요 ㅎ 좋은 영상 감사합니다. 잘 봤어요!

Favorite part: everything! Haha Couldn’t tell which one I liked the most! This was all so beautiful! Thank you for bringing us along! ❤️
thanks for coming with me!!
What a wonderful share! Thank you, Cari! I have to say, all of the performances were really fun and I most enjoyed the sense of humor of the tightrope artist. Plus, you got that cute moment with the woman and the selfie-stick. :-)
My new name is melting in the low desert! The fires, the heat, causing so much angst and strife. NOW Canada! Cooler air is on the way!
stay safe out there!! i've been following the news and its madness :(((
And we just had a 4.4 magnitude earthquake centered in Anza. Can it get any better?
Count me in on that pavilion session haha!
I love your vlogs 😘. Will be visiting Seoul again next month and our itinerary is like inspired by all the places you went to. Thank you for always sharing.

I will forever remember this place because on the way there, I lost my camera on the bus lol cried the whole time i was walking around there (so childish!) so i wasnt able to enjoy the many many MANY beautiful things at the village
Favorite part was listening to your voice! So pleasing to hear!
I went in June. Really beautiful place. The acts with the horseback riders was amazing.
About the ahjuma story, i have something to share haha. I took a bus from Ulsan to Seoul and an ahjuma sat next to me. We are going this October with my 2.5 year old! How many hours do you recommend we stay here? Is 4-5hrs sufficient? :)
Very nice place and village is beautiful thanks for sharing keep it up , I'm going tomorrow.
I really love this video! It didn't even look crowded while you were there which I would love ❤ You were able to take your time and observe your surroundings! Take in mother nature 😊I absolutely loved those people on those horses by the way , I would be memorized by them hehe
i was really happy with how many people were (and werent) there hehe felt like my own private village!
@@caricakes Those are just the best experiences in my opinion, only just because you don't have to rush around and fight with the crowds haha
I'm just watching this video but I wanted to say that you look so genuinely happy in this video and it makes me want come to Korea all the more! Thanks fr sharing this.
awww thank you so much!
OMG! I was there about a year ago. lol My friend fell in love with one of the guys in the horses haha. But yeah, this place was very cool to visit.

suwon!!! that's not far from where my bf lived! there's also a, uh, toilet museum there that i didn't visit but my bf's family did and they liked it hahaha. anyway i loved this video, this is high on my list of places to go! and i'm really glad i watched this early in the morning, it put me in such a good mood!
omg why is korea obsessed with toilets hahahah
I went here a few weeks ago and I would just like to say that me and that cow are best friends.❤
cari cakes I noticed that too 😢
All I could think about during the first show is 'pompom hats pompom hats!'
sooo~good~! thanks for the healing video~~ *^-^*
thanks for watching!
Opens window from room and announces: “It’s Cari video day! “ Goes back inside and carries on watching.
BAHAHAHA YESSS!!!!
Wow it's BEAUTIFUL! The animals , the show, what a cool place to visit! Imagine in winter , i hope it stays open lol Can't wait for the next vlog!
i went there in March and it was a little meh because everything was dead haha but in the snow it would be GORGEOUS
Loved it! ❤️ thank you for showing us this place even though it looked super hot ;-;
i had a lot of fun! thanks for coming along~
Hi Cari, what is a good time of the year to visit here? And do they have a website to help tourists find on what days they have shows?
Thank you filming this nicely shot video. My mom took me to Suwon Folk Village way back in 1986. It looks exactly the same as I remembered it. Your video brought back some childhood memories. Great work!
its really suspended in time!
I'm moving back to Korea next Monday and have been binge watching your videos. This place looks so neat! I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks so much for sharing!
omg good luck on your move and welcome back!!!
Oh, Long time no see, Cari, I guess the candy you ate looks like a rice taffy
Korean 아줌마 and 아저씨 are honestly so kind. I've been to Korea twice and both those trips we were always taken care of by these grandmas and grandpas. They would help us find our way when we got lost and would tell us to sit whenever we were standing in the subway. The 아저씨 security guard of the airbnb we stayed in on our 1st trip was also really nice. We visited him again on our 2nd trip even though we didn't stay in the same airbnb haha. He even remembered us 😢❤
omg i always brought my security guard at my office candy from whereever i travelled hahahahah
thanks for video i miss this place
Ahh! It's so pretty and green there! Thank you so much for another lovely and calming video, Cari! 💚 My mom and I were cracking up at the 아줌마 with her selfie stick! I want her confidence! 😂
the last time i went was in March so the greenery was shocking!! and that ahjumma was so hilarious she was screaming the whole time!!
I really wanted to make a joke about 2:17, but I got nothing appropriate for your channel :-p
Seriously though, thanks for bringing us along to this wonderful location! Definitely looks like it’s worth a visit!
hahahahha it was definitely an unexpected surprise hahahh
I was there just a few weeks ago and really loved it! We didn't have that much time so we couldn't see the horse back riding, but watched some of the dancing (one of our friends actually got chosen for the plate spinning :D) and part of a traditional wedding :) it was also very hot though and I felt sorry for the dancers having to jump around in their costumes^^ would love to go again with some more time to look around :)
omg i would have been so embarrassed if i was called up to do the plate thing hahahah and i was so worried for the dancers too! the one guy who was breakdancing looked like he was about to faint ㅠㅠ
Favourite part for me... "It's a real cow!" 🤣
Thank you for showing us ♡♡
wahhh thank you so so much!!!!!
My favorite part was the sassy Ajussi on the tightrope! But that greyish/roanish appaloosa stole my heart (I too am a horse girl lol). Another great vlog!
he was way too funny hahahah thank you!
Culture and traditions. ❤️
Cari I recommend to visit Geoje :) You should look it up this small island. I am sure you will love it!
heheh i loved it! ruclips.net/video/QUpiP2aPZIA/видео.html
cari cakes Oh you already visited! Nice!! 😃
wow, this place goes straight onto my list too... I should just take a whole year off and go explore Korea. My favorite part was you chillin' with the pretty cow ;) but really, everything there just looks so beautiful and the shows seem so much fun to watch! I guess there weren't many people because they wanted to avoid the heat? So thank YOU for going out there despite the heat and humidity to make this video for us!
seriously i've been here 5 years and am just scratching the surface!!
Did any other visitors wear hanbok or is it too much? I want to visit but also take pictures.
Your vid is so beautiful and unique.
thank you! this is a really gorgeous place to visit!
Ive been planning to go there for ages!:D watching your video i want to go there even more. It looks much better then i thought it would be. Need to stop by this time for sure since im staying in Suwon:) did you go alone or with bf? Is it ok to go alone or is it bettet to go with someone?
Btw the best part was the roap. It must hurt so much and esp when he is man omg :D im sure he has some protection but just watching that is painful :D
i went solo and it was still so fun!!!
영어를 잘하는편이 아니라 내용을 완전히 이해할순없만, 한국에 와서 늘 아름다운 영상을 보여줘서 너무 고마워요 ;) I m not good at speaking English so i cant understand everything, but thank you for making these beautiful videos 😍
Thank you for watching 😭😭😭
This is so summer-y I love it!
It was one of the few days that I didn't really mind the heat because everything was so fun! hehe
I like this video and village from Nepal
Ehy Cari, what's with the stone - fabric stripes thingy at 1:04?
최고의 영상이었어요~ 감사합니다^^
This place is DEFINITELY on my list! I'll be living close to there starting Aug 26th so I will make sure to visit. My favorite would have the be the horses. I've always wanted to ride but never really had an opportunity. I just love everything about the Folk villages! Thank you for another great video!
i hope you get a chance to visit!! its really really cool!
Definitely can also picture myself as noble living a beautiful Hanok house and drawing in the summer pavilion near the river, while listening to the cicadas 😊.
as long as the cicadas stay in the trees hehe i always hate when i actually SEE one ;)
How far is the fortress wall from this village? Is it possible to do both in one day do you think?
Thank you. It was entertaining and beautifully edited. I don’t know if i will have enough time to visit this when I will go to Suwon for only one day. But, I put this village in my wish list.
thank you so much!! hope you can find time, but if not, suwon has a lot to offer!!
Best part was the guy in the horse costume. 😁😆
definitely hahahahhaa
I would love for you to visit there again in winter!! It would be so beautiful to see it in the colder months!!
it would be so cool covered in snow!
Ohh cool Thats Where thé Movies are beeing made thx xD
I've been having a rough night (panic attack), but when I saw you uploaded a new video, I felt a lot better. Your videos always cheer me up
oh no! hope everything starts falling back into place for you soon
Tell me that eekhorns means something else in English, because in holland it means squirrels 😅
this was so fun :')
