Hey guys!! One thing that's pretty important that I forgot to say was that you do not need these fancy art supplies to be a good artist. Practice makes you a good artist and spending money on high end paints will not make you any better. Please don't take this video as me trying to tell you that you need any of these items, I just simply wanted to answer a lot of the questions about what I use frequently. I had to work my way up from buying cheap generic supplies, and earning money from my artwork with those in order to upgrade, there's no shame in using cheaper supplies and don't let anyone tell you different!
Ally in drawsland yeah, I see your point. Not everyone has the time to watch a 20 minute video, but some people do, that's all I'm saying and I personally like 20 minutes videos cause I do have time. I guess it depends on different people lol.
I just love art supplies. Some people can't stop buying shoes, I can't stop buying watercolor palettes.. :') Great video, I'll definitely try to save up for the mijello watercolors.
Legit going out & buying half of these lol! I've been an artist for years now & lately I've fallen off & want to get back on track! Your art inspires me & I love how you don't use overly expensive items! I'm going to be doing inktober this year & wondered what you used to do yours! So now I can get the right supplies! Thank you!
Some of Daniel Smith's watercolours granulate A LOT, which might be the weird texture you're talking about. It's what some of their paints are well known for. The level of granulation mihgt be excessive for some but it's pretty fun to play around with :)
that's exactly why I loooove their paints!! granulation is my favorite! Some of the colors I have seem a little waxy, they're tough to get pigment from and it turns out milky and slimy almost? It's really weird, has that happened to you?
JacquelinDeleon -- what colors?? I use DS almost exclusively and maybe when i get some new ones or my friends do, we can find out if it was a bad batch maybe?
I love your hair - it's a lovely shade of blue :). These videos are so useful in terms of hints and tips on storage - thanks, you've given me some ideas. I love the idea of drawing in coffee shops for practicing people.
I realize just now that I've never seen your face before! I imagined you (vaguely) much differently but I'm so pleased to know what you look like now so I know the face behind the beautiful artwork that I love so much 😁💙 It was neat to see all your supplies. I have that gold ink set on my list as well.
I love that you made your own skin cover for your ipad and cell phone. You could really start doing that with your other artworks and sell it in your store!
Hi! I just wanted to comment a little about those Daniel Smith watercolors you were talking about. Some of their pigments are made with minerals and pigments and that is why they have a grainy or uneven application. They are meant to be that way. If you look at the color swatches when you buy the paint they usually do reflect that texture so you can know what you are getting. I recently purchased their Primatek set witch is made all up of crystals and I absolutely love them, but I would not generally use them as a primary base color for a painting. They work great for achieving certain textures and to tint or lightly glaze. Because they are made with different crystals, the colors are very pure but they behave very differently so it's just a matter of getting used to it and finding the right place to use them. :)
that's exactly why I loooove their paints!! granulation is my favorite! Those sound pretty amazing, I just bought one of their sample sheets so I can try out all the colors, so excited! Some of the colors I have seem a little waxy, they're tough to get pigment from and it turns out milky and slimy almost? It's really weird, has that happened to you?
JacquelinDeleon Whoa, I haven't encountered that milky slimy thing you're talking about. I don't think I'd like that if I did...well, actually I do have an orange color (I think cadmium orange light) that has a milky quality to it. Not so much slimy but definately milky.
Thanks for sharing your stuff with us! I love to see what products other artists use and why, it's either a great recommendation or a great alternative to keep in mind. I'm DYING to get a Finetec palette myself, I love sparkle so much! lol
I love your custom skin and case from GelaSkins! I use them all the time and I would LOVE to be able to get your artwork through their store in the future. My daughter and I LOVE your work and enjoy following you on Patreon, too!
Thank you for this! I also think it is good to know that there is also no shame in using fancy art supplies. Some people also like to shame others for having these sort of things - but you worked hard to get these so you deserve it. :)
personally, I only get annoyed when people get super expensive art materials but they don't do anything with it. like, why get expensive tools and flaunt them when you don't regularly use them. Otherwise, I enjoy the video a lot and get excited for the artist who got them.
I have mission gold paints too! They're definitely vibrant and very lovely colors! I've been looking into those finetec gold paints so thanks for the tip!
Ha, you make me wanna run to my artsupply store...Ohoh. Daniel Smith has a lot of granulating watercolors. Maybe that is what you meant? Good news they have dotcards. So you can swatch out the colors and see how they behave and look...and of course if you like them...:) Good luck and have fun with inktober! Looking forward what you will make.
A recommendation. If your bic pens dry out on you try Zebra pens. I use them at work, and they are smooth, consistent and don't catch while putting down a line. They're a mid range priced pen depending how high on the hooks you pull from. EDIT: Here they are www.staples.com/Zebra-Z-Grip-Retractable-Ballpoint-Pen-Medium-Point-Black-24-Pack/product_609710 They also sell them in bulk at costco
Great video! I have the same bullet proof glass pallet it's great, my daughter came home from university for a visit and she had the same colour hair! I loved it lol
One of my favorite sketchbooks is the Mossery sketchbook because copics don't bleed through very badly on their mixed media paper. I use a lot of pastel copics in my sketches and the color doesn't bleed :D it only bleeds really obviously if it's a darker color. I also really like canson XL.
Awesome, i had no idea Leuchtturm is available in the US. I grew up with their stationary as the company comes from my hometown, Hamburg in Germany. "Leuchtturm" means "light-house" btw ;-)
I use a lot of Mission Gold too! An unhealthy amount, actually. Oh god, what has Mission Gold done to me? It's made my paintings look totally boss, that's what!
I think it's great that people mention that you don't need fancy art supplies to make art because people have various reasons why they are stuck with cheap ones.
I think it was in another video you also used some bigger wire bound brushes? I'm having a hard time finding that one and looking for some to try! Thank you!
I love this thorough list of your supplies since yes, people will always want to know what you use. I also appreciate that you demonstrated each of the things, and said important and honest details about them, like for your sketchbook you made sure to say it's good, but not for lots of water. Love that pencil case, too! If you like that Fluid watercolor paper, you might want to consider trying the Kilimanjaro paper from Cheap Joe's, which is my favorite and what I ended up loving AFTER I found that cotton fluid paper. Which used to be my favorite. =>.
Recently I tried the Schneider edge ballpoint pens and I haven't tried any other pen that is as Smooth as those and they come in all colors. Anyway Great video as always!!!
Great video thank you! Also your hair is fantastic :) I have a question, somewhat related to your video: I tried filling my own watercolor palette but the paint ended up molding. Do you know why that happened?
Hey Jacquelin :), I follow you for awhile, but don't think I ever commented yet! Some Daniel Smith colors have a weird texture because they use many granulating pigments. The granulating ones are marked with a "y" in their color charts. I hope this is helpfull for you to avoid more hit and miss experiences. :) Keep up the amazing work!
Question, where do you get your enamel pins? Do you get them on etsy? If so could you recommend some of your favorite shops? I love your videos by the way!
I have a question I hope you can get back to. The skin you got for your iPad, is it like one you just stick right onto it? It's not a case right? And can it be removed easily without wear and tear to the iPad? I'm getting one for christmas and I would really like to get a custom skin/case. Thank you.
could you do another video of the watercolour skin tones. I was looking for the one you deleted cause i am into watercolour. And i love all your art works.
I have to totally agree on the Polychromos. I made the mistake of buying the largest set of Prismacolor and the largest set of Caran d’Ache Luminance pencils, and only a 12-color set of Polychromos, and I REALLY wish I’d gotten the largest set of Polychromos right from the start. I like them best by far. I still love my Prismacolor and Luminance, but they both wear out SO FAST, and the Polychromos last a lot longer. I just broke down and ordered a 60 set of the Polychromos. Hoping to get the 120 set someday. Meanwhile I’ll be buying them a few at a time through Blick since they have them open stock online.
The bags are a Swedish brand and the name fjällräven would if you directly transferred it be ruffly" mountain fox ". Swedish is a language you write many words together so fjällräven is the words "fjäll" ( a kind of mountain ) and "räven" meaning fox. Fun fact about "fjäll" is that the same words can mean two things one I said before the other is scales that animals have. Swedish is full of double meaning words that can bring a laugh. Thanks for the interesting video XD
Hi Jackie!!!! I love your art so SO much and I've been following you for over a year. My dream is to be an independent artist like you, and from what you've said in the past about your college experience i want a similar education. QUESTION: What did you major in? ( the specific title)

No one is gonna talk about her plants behind her, I mean 😍🌿
bella teeda the plants are amazing!!!!
her plant setup is goals!

JacquelinDeleon sorry, all your stuff are cool, but the video is too long.
Ally in drawsland I like long videos 😊
Ally in drawsland It may depend on preference, but I like long videos :)
Thatonegreencrayon the same for me, but i don't have always a lot of free time. And then it isn't healthy staying a long time watching videos.
Ally in drawsland yeah, I see your point. Not everyone has the time to watch a 20 minute video, but some people do, that's all I'm saying and I personally like 20 minutes videos cause I do have time. I guess it depends on different people lol.
I remember the time when you still used the cheap reeves. Now you have all these items. I am so proud and happy😅😅
I'm dying for that skintone watercolor palette video.
I just love art supplies. Some people can't stop buying shoes, I can't stop buying watercolor palettes.. :') Great video, I'll definitely try to save up for the mijello watercolors.
Clo ver
Me too !
Bulletproof watercolor palette... for the adventurous artist who leaps headfirst in the line of fire 😂
Legit going out & buying half of these lol! I've been an artist for years now & lately I've fallen off & want to get back on track! Your art inspires me & I love how you don't use overly expensive items! I'm going to be doing inktober this year & wondered what you used to do yours! So now I can get the right supplies! Thank you!
Please make the skin tone watercolor videos because your color palette is amazing 💙💙💙

Well, I don't have very many colours. The only one I've had trouble with is viridian - it's like scrubbing a rock. No strange slime though.
JacquelinDeleon -- what colors?? I use DS almost exclusively and maybe when i get some new ones or my friends do, we can find out if it was a bad batch maybe?
I can't use Daniel Smith here in the south because the honey used as a binder attracts bugs.
Your hair is GORGEOUS!!!! Mermaid vibes all year long 💪
OMG YOU ARE SO PRETTY IM SHOOK AS ALWAYS!
You are one of my watercolor/all over art goddesses, this video and all your tutorials help a lot. Thank you very much
You can tell she takes aspects of style from her own appearance, and I think that is so cool💖
I love your hair - it's a lovely shade of blue :). These videos are so useful in terms of hints and tips on storage - thanks, you've given me some ideas. I love the idea of drawing in coffee shops for practicing people.
Can you also do a video on where you get your stickers made or how you do them yourself if you do them yourself.
K Chenet that is an awesome idea 😊 now I just use society6 so it would be great to see other options
I realize just now that I've never seen your face before! I imagined you (vaguely) much differently but I'm so pleased to know what you look like now so I know the face behind the beautiful artwork that I love so much 😁💙

I love that you made your own skin cover for your ipad and cell phone. You could really start doing that with your other artworks and sell it in your store!
Jacquie your art is beautiful and your personality is so engaging. The people who know you in person are really getting a treat!! c:

I love the way you store your color pencils! The box looks really useful and the mermaid scale pouch is too cute!
Me too! I want this so much! Really does looks helpful/useful!😉
Yes to the brush pens! I used then last year for InkTober and I'm using them again for my art videos this year!
I love your custom skin and case from GelaSkins! I use them all the time and I would LOVE to be able to get your artwork through their store in the future. My daughter and I LOVE your work and enjoy following you on Patreon, too!

Kelsey Yurkow Art & Illustration I like both fancy and cheap art supplies 😊

I love your videos and the way you explain things. ❤️ keep being great ❤️
Great video! I have the same bullet proof glass pallet it's great, my daughter came home from university for a visit and she had the same colour hair! I loved it lol
Definitely want to see your ipad set up and such!! I just bought a pro as well and I loooooove it💗💗💗
Yeah!!! I love your work!

It's always so cute when non-swedes/scandinavians try to pronounce fjäll-räven
I'm in LOVE with your hairs
It reminds me of that Barbie mermaid cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid
I love this thorough list of your supplies since yes, people will always want to know what you use. I have a question, somewhat related to your video: I tried filling my own watercolor palette but the paint ended up molding. Do you know why that happened?
Great video and great works! :D
When you're talking about the Daniel Smith watercolors, is the texture you're talking about granulation? Most of their colors are granulating.
Your art is as beautiful as you. And I love your art!
I want everything, but you got me with that mermaid pencil case... btw, i love your art a little more everyday ♥
Hey Jacquelin :), I follow you for awhile, but don't think I ever commented yet! Some Daniel Smith colors have a weird texture because they use many granulating pigments. I love your channel! And your hair reminds me of a mermaid! And I absolutely love it! 😍
Great stuff! How do you like drawing with the Apple Pencil?
Nahhhh, your backpack isn't dirty. It's just well loved!
Question, where do you get your enamel pins? Do you get them on etsy? If so could you recommend some of your favorite shops? I love your videos by the way!

Great Video! I love your work!

I have a question I hope you can get back to. The skin you got for your iPad, is it like one you just stick right onto it? It's not a case right? And can it be removed easily without wear and tear to the iPad? I'm getting one for christmas and I would really like to get a custom skin/case. Thank you.
Love your arts. Btw. Nice hair
could you do another video of the watercolour skin tones. I was looking for the one you deleted cause i am into watercolour. And i love all your art works.

I want to get the first backpack but idk if it will be big enough to hold all my school books. Do you think it would work?
You are really cute and smart :) Thank you for posting this video and keep painting!
Your doodles (and your face) are absolutely gorgeous
will you be restocking the witch stickers in your shop? I love your art girl! AHHHH :]
You have some really nice art supplies
i found the same painting brush here on my city, i pay 3 dollars, and i love it
I love your art supplies miss

How do u make your enamel pins? Do u make it yourself or do u send it to a company?
Hi Jackie!!!! I love your art so SO much and I've been following you for over a year. My dream is to be an independent artist like you, and from what you've said in the past about your college experience i want a similar education. QUESTION: What did you major in? ( the specific title)
you're such a pretty and kind person
I recently bought quite a few tubes of Daniel Smith watercolor and I also have a problem with certain colours. Most of them are AMAZING but then there's a random few that are not pigmented at all, look blotchy and just so dull in comparison. Anyone else have this issue?
