This fight is ludicrously difficult.
It takes timing to make sure. Generally the easiest way to do it is blow up in his face directly after one of his attacks (he's not too fast lol).

DJ Octavio in Splatoon 1 is legit one of my favorite Boss Battles EVER. The feeling i had when fighting him for the first time was something i never felt before
And the plot twist when we found out that callie and marie have been helping us the whole time!
Know what I felt? Like I would never beat him, it took me 2 days to beat him. I hated the Octavio fight. Not only that but I got the blue boy inkling amiibo and then I had to fight him, with a roller. And when I finally beat him and got the hero roller replica, I realised it was only a regular splat roller! But still I was singing a lot about my victory, especially ’they see me rolling down the street, they’d be rolling to beat’ for nearly an hour.

Inner Agent 3 isn’t a flashback. It’s basically you fighting against “the hero within”

@@NAAME9115 Yeah tbh octo shower is kind of a pretty difficult boss either way, especially with short range weapons.

If you want a real challenge with octo shower, bombs only in the first story or thrusters only in the octo expansion.
The octarians carrying the octo shower don't regen health, so it's possible to balance a bomb on top and chip him down or to just hug the octarians on top for chip damage on them.
Nate Wilson October expansion bosses were more fun because they were actually a partial challenge.

that is literally why this boss is difficult. You deal less dmg, forcing you to explode more times and you cant move. This give Octo Samurai a big chance to knock you off the edge! I struggled with this boss.

I died constantly in revenge of the octo samurai... am i doing something wrong?
if you die continuously in revenge of the octo samurai, here are some tips ive collected from every time ive played it :
1. the boss is identical to the original campaign version. all the attacks are exactly the same. the only difference is that you are in the baller.
2. you can tell if a spin attack is coming if you hear a ding. if you hear the ding, then move to a grated area of the arena. if there are no grated areas nearby, then just move as far away from the samurai as you can get.
3. moving in circles around the boss is, in my opinion, the easiest eay to dodge the attacks. when youre in the first phase, just get as close to him as possible. i reccomend spinning around him and trying to bait him towards a grate so that you are less likely to ne flung off.
3. if you cant bait him towards a grate, then just risk it and get closer to him after a regular attack. you may get flung off once or twice, but its easy once you get the hang of it.

Here's my list.
Note: I am not including Tartar, because 1: It's a Turf War and technically not a boss fight, 2: You don't attack him, nor does he attack you.

16. Revenge of Octo Samurai
I don't like that you have to fight him in the Baller.
15. Octonozzle
Very Pathetic Fight.
14. Octo Shower Supreme
I am not that good aiming with Inkjets, and screw his Sting Ray.

Weird idea for boss fight. Not awful.

It's good for a first fight.

It is a good final boss, but nothing compared to splatoon 1.

Creative Upgrade, and a good fight. I also love when he says, "I'M BAAACK." and "And I brought this sweet new coat!"
6. Octo Oven XXL
More challenging than octo oven, and better. Hard but fun.
5. Octo Shower
I agree, i like octo shower way better than octo shower supreme.
4. Octomaw
Awesome fight. Clever that you throw a bomb in his mouth after you break some teeth, and that reveals his weak point.
3. Octostomp Redux
My favorite version of Octostomp. He puts up a tough fight, and it's just like Neo Octostomp, expect way harder.
2. Inner Agent 3
Yep it felt like heaven when i finally beat him. The most difficult splatoon boss, and one of the best.
1. DJ Octavio (Splatoon 1)
Nobody from splatoon 2, not even anybody from the octo expansion, can dethrone the King of Splatoon Bosses.

We all have to agree that Octavio in the Octobot King from the first game was epic. It had LEGIT EVERYTHING. The way you fought it though was fun, I wish they kept the space theme and the giant bomb. I’ve been with this game since the beginning, and I’ve seen every upgrade the game has got. But still, the Octobot King I was just too cooll
I always stand at the side of the arena and shoot him from there when I fight Neo Octostomp. It makes the fight a lot easier

Tips for the inner agent 3 battle:
Beginning:
Wait for the ink jet and stay a little far from them. Once they finish up, go over to where the little arrow is (where they were when they activated the jet pack and give it all you got. Bonus: if you want to deal some extra damage before that, try and get up close during the ink jet phase.
2nd phase:
Attack when she uses the bubbles. Obviously they don’t have their weapon on them at this point and can do no more than just blow some bubbles. Make sure you also pop all the bubbles when they’re knocked because at the beginning of the next phase, if your quite close to one, they will explode on impact.
3rd phase:
Paint the outside of the field so you can run faster from the autobombs. When they’re not using their special, get straight to it. Maybe even throw down an ink bomb or two.
4th phase:
You can start to notice a pattern here, but, wait for their special to end and get really up close to the platform. Quickly throw a bomb and submerge back into the ink to quickly throw another one. Don’t try and shoot them with your weapon as it might not him them.
Final phase:
when they get to the splashdown phase, hide behind the wasabi sticks. You don’t actually take damage when your behind the glass. Then just swap sides of the glass and keep on doing that until they’re finished and deal the final shot (still do keep a look out for the autobombs)

Yep, I have tried for hours. No videos or guides help me beat it. I gave up months ago I might go back and beat it in 2 years.
The only advice I can give is to focus on the octolings and not the orb
Also splat the octolings as soon as they land with bombs and use your special to heal the orb

When the first dj octavio boss fight music played the high pitched sounds at the start, it gave me shivers down my spine
I found the original Octo shower one of the hardest boss when I first played Splatoon 2
I had Splatoon 1 but at the time my internet sucked so I could only play single player luckily I got it fixed for Splatoon 2 and octo expansion was AMAZING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I feel like both Octavio's should be interchangeable. While the first game had a better way of defeating him, the end of Splatoon 2 had a much better plot, gameplay, and overall for me, boss fight.

Octavio's (original) battle simply cannot be replicated. It is a gemstone of a final boss.

DJ Octavio's Revenge/King Octobot 2 from Splatoon 2 is my favorite boss in the Splatoon series, because of the battle, the atmosphere, the Rainmaker and, of course, *the MUSIC!* They improved Calamari Inkantation and made it spicier AND better! :D
And lets not forget Commander Tartar. He's ALSO my favorite boss in the Splatoon series. It takes the rules of Turf War and make it's more awesome and epic. *Epic atmosphere and epic music. It's so filled with AWESOME sauce. :)*

I think putting the bosses with specials lower than the original is kinda unfair because, in my opinion, it’s better to think of those as challenges rather than actual bosses. They take the format of a boss and test you to see how you’ll do defeating it in an abstract way.
And notice how you don’t even *have* to do those levels. They’re always at the very end of two intersecting paths. And they don’t reward you anything towards beating the expansion except the CQ points. They’re purely what they are, really: Tests.
To win against the hero within, try predicting his\her moves. Also D.J. Octavio took me a whole MONTH to beat, and once I did, I felt like having cake for dinner.

I cannot believe how high octo samurai was ranked. He’s so unbelievably easy with the right weapons. I think my record for clearing the fight is about 30 seconds with the blaster. I know he’s intended to be fought with a roller, but if you give the player other options, make sure the fight doesn’t just end immediately.

if you read the file that Cap'n Cuttlefish sends in the chat logs in Octo Expansion about Marina when she used to work for the Octarians as an engineer, youll notice it says that shes from Slimeskin Garrison, which is the sector where you fight Octo Shower. they come from the same place.

Did you know Pearl and Marina aren't agents of the Squidbeak Splatoon? It never actually claims that they are agents. Cap'n Cuttlefish thought number 10,008 was too long so he just called him Agent 8. So don't worry about Agent 7 right now, just think about Agent 5, 6, and 7.

I’ve always loved the octostomp in my childhood. Heck, even in 1st grade I made a book about him. Like bro. I have a looooong story of me trying to beat the octostomp . I INVITED ALL OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS TO HELP ME. I’m telling yah, it may not seem big, but to me it’s just like 👁👄👁
First, I apologize in advance for the long comment.
I'm a person who likes games for their fun and storytelling. That being said, I'm one of those rare folks that likes Agent 4's fight with Octavio better than Agent 3's. Sure, it did change the formula from the original battle in ways that many people dislike, but I didn't care about that. The atmosphere of the battle with the Octobot King Mark II was way more intense for me as I went into it for the first time. Everything that built up to it, including the reading of the Squid Sisters Stories, and then the fight itself gave me huge chills.
After long wondering where Callie had gone, fearing that she's in the clutches of the Octarian Menace, we find her, but we learn that she's joined the enemy. Then, the mastermind emerges and reveals that he hypnotized the poor Squid Sister. I was so shocked at that first cutscene, that I paused and restarted the level. I just did not believe my eyes. Next, the duel begins, and the music we hear is a dramatically sinister version of 'Tokimeki Bomb Rush', Callie's song. I actually feared for Callie's life as the fight went on.
Then, Marie showed up and sniped her dead in the face. I gasped very loudly. The fight continues after a change of soundtrack. Marie's presence briefly cues her own song, 'Tide Goes Out'. Next, her attempt to bring her cousin back to reality and Callie's attempt to ignore her cue a clashing mashup of their respective solo songs, dubbed 'Tidal Rush'. This tune made the experience feel like the third act of a Pixar film to me. It was so exciting!
After all of this, we arrive at the finale. Callie comes to at last and joins with Marie to sing the song that brought them together as children. My favorite song from the original game, which I thought was perfect prior to that moment, just got way better! 'Spicy Shiokara Bushi', the grand return of the heavenly melody. It filled me with the determination to end things with Octavio once and for all! We are granted a modified Rainmaker, the namesake of my favorite Ranked Battle game from the first title, and we proceed to take the fight to the evil DJ, high above the battlefield as we ride on ride rails. I was ecstatic and it felt so good to slam the weapon on Octavio's face! The day is saved. The Great Zapfish and Callie were brought back safely. I breathed a sigh of relief when the credits started rolling and almost cried while listening to 'Fresh Start' for the first time. I was happy and satisfied with the way this final boss battle panned out.
So, that's my opinion and the reason for said opinion. But I understand why many others prefer the first Octobot King battle. Sorry again for this mouthful.
One last thing: I see your Agent 3 in the Octo Expansion is male. We must stick together. There aren't many of us.
I feel like splatoon 1 bosses and octo expansion bosses were the best, splatoon 1 battles felt so fun and unique, along with octo expansion, even tho there revamped versions of the regular bosses there still fun and have that challenging element.
Inner agent 3 is number 17 for being the hardest boss and making you want to die.

My favorite boss is the Octo Shower Supreme. I love how need to fight with an Inkjet. It's just amazing!

So... In the Octostomp battle, in Splatoon 2, there's this little ledge thing that goes around the arena that dips down. It's in the octo expansion too. The problem with this area, is that you can't be hurt if you stand in it. The Octostomp can't go down there with you. This removes all challenge from the fight, because all you need to do is back up there when he charges you and then shoot up at you when he get back up, then climb up until he spots you before hopping backwards when he charges you again. Just rinse and repeat until you defeat him. No challenge in this fight at all.
On the off the toaster if you hide in your ink it will question where you were and go to sleep it’s kind of funny when you pop out and go back in ink again

tbh, i kinda wish you could use your own weapon in the inner agent 3 fight, like any weapon you can buy; mini splatling, charger, suction bombs, etc. it would end up being a ton easier, but i think it would be a bit more fun that way.
and i also really like how in DJ octavio fight in splatoon 1, how it would take you through some of the things you did during the levels.
