So excited for the Bouvier. It's not over bred.
I love Bouviers. I showed one once. He was a huge goofball
Bouviers are nice dogs but they look pretty different now vs. 100 years ago - a good deal more coat and size these days - if that's what you mean by "overbred".

I happily watch all the other dogs being shown in this category but then I see the German shepherd and I shake my head and sigh. Can't believe they are still showing and breeding this things, it's just too extreme and I can't believe they didn't realize they have to tune it down a bit.
Silvia C agreed
That specific dog is a little extreme but they aren't all like that
Silvia C...I agree. I think the breed was meant to have a straight back. This slope is unnatural and I wonder if it doesn't add to the back problems this breed suffers. It is sad.
@@ravennas.2736 As someone who has back issues at times...my back hurts just looking. 😂

German shepherds are my life. Mine isn't a show line he is a German working line. Doesn't have the low back. He is my protector and my snuggle bear ❤️
working line is best, the show breeders are destroying the breed, every year they get worse
Work lines are better. Like Steph said they are ruining the breed with the breed standard

Amazing dogs! The judge herself is gorgeous and I applaud her choice. My own breed is the Australian Cattle Dog, mines topline isn't straight sadly (she actually has a sadly very prominent wheel/roach back but that's what I get for going through a BYB) The australian shepherd had an AMAZING coat and lovely paws. I've seen far to many aussies with coats that are super "fluffy"
It's super nice seeing an ACD that isn't obese too! At our local shows they're all "fattle dogs" and I can't imagine trying to pass one of those through nationals.

It is disgusting but then the Old English Sheep Dog is also utterly destroyed, how painful to have a mountain of useless fur.

Oh the GSD what has happened to them.....sad.
Amy Appleby In Central and Western NY, we have Gsds with NO hip dysplasia or slanted back. Bc they aren’t overbred...CNY has some of the best GSDs ive ever seen & no one up here even realizes bc they arent dog obsessed compared to some other areas and states.
@amy appleby idiotic breeders and show standards happened. No idea how having clearly handicapped dogs is considered good or beautiful. Sad.
@jessie9384 they are on board on paper but not in practice. There are several reasons like money (established famous breeders would lose all their breeding stock), influence (big names breeders that promote this), etc.
Amy Appleby He’s fine as long as he’s not a hock walker then there’s no problem with a slanted back.

Did anyone else notice the sloped back on the GSD? Awful
GFBC GlenFaughan BorderCollies it’s not awful, he’s clearly not even in pain. They only time you SHOULD worry about the slopes back is if the dog is walking on his hocks. That’s the breeding you need to stay away from.
@@beangelica2540 Sorry.... But compared to the working line GSD it is awful in my opinion, granted there has been improvements in the breed but it still hasn't recovered enough. All working lines compared to show lines are very different but that's just how I see them. Who am I? No-one.
The sloping back is a result of the way the dog is stacked. Clearly you can watch the dog free stack in a more natural position and its back is fine. Stop.

I absolutely love the herding and working breeds. One word to the wise though these dogs are not necessarily meant to be or want to be housebound pets. Years ago I foolishly disregarded all warnings against owning the Australian Cattle Dog, big mistake! My cattle dog was up before dawn and made sure everyone else was up, from puppyhood she jumped or climbed every fence no matter how high, dominated or attempted to dominate the other dogs in the house that towered over her, and made trouble unless she was well occupied. The cattle dog is a fantastic dog but like some terriers not for the faint of heart. I have never given up a dog before but I managed to find a home more suited to her temperament, lots of acreage with a more submissive male Aussie Shepherd that enjoyed her company. It really is not enough to love the breed we really do have to consider the dogs long term happiness and our ability to adapt to their needs.
You are so right. We have an Aussie Cattle Dog-the red heeler variety-who was captured by a rancher here in Colorado. She was probably feral but he believed she was born in the wild. She was two or three years old when he finally trapped her. When he pulled her out of the trap, he thought "She's not so bad" and called Colo cattle Dog Rescue, which is how we got her. For the first seven years, she required two three to four mile walks a day, a good bit of wrestling in the evening and lots of defined jobs. Finally, at age 13, she is starting to slow down. :) I have never known a stronger dog, physically or mentally.
Tom In Denver they are incredibly intelligent determined loyal and unbelievably strong I fell in love with the breed from ‘ The Road Warrior’. Your dog is so lucky to have been saved and find a home with you!
I'm glad they at least mentioned the border collie isn't suitable for house pet.
The Sheltie is the perfect mix between house pet and farm dog in my opinion. Of course, just as with all herding and working dogs, lots of exercise is needed!
I agree. I'm forever telling people the same. I own black Russians and people see them and think teddy bear. They don't realise they're a working breed and require high maintenance and lifelong training.... The other day I got told to give my poodle a hair cut 🙄😂
The Aussie was so pretty 😍

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO UPLOAD THE 2020 GROUP JUDGING??
Jesus was not killed nor jessu was crucified
Do these handlers have to learn the breeds there working with?
yes they do
Thank you for that
michael woods Professional handlers have to be familiar with each breed’s “ standard” so they can show them to the best advantage. Judges have to pass written tests on each breed they want to be able to judge. These people are professionals. I have shown dogs since the 1950s when dogshows were lesser known to most people. You had to GO to the show- there was no television coverage then.
michael woods Fun fact- top winning handlers get bonuses for each win the dog gets andcan earn well in excess of $100,000 a year, just like too winning my jockeys make huge dollars.
Is the corgi penalized for his Lil mlem he gave the judge? I hope not

Vic stillwell shouldn't be let near any dog of any kind.
Ankit Gomes ew no. She’s trash at anything dog related. I wouldn’t let her within a mile of my dogs.
German Shepherds belong in the working group not herding.
Sue Helms I agreed with you- they used to be in the Working group. Probably AKC decided the GSD belonged in the Herding group because it has “ herd” and “Shepherd” in its Americanname. Of course, in the U.K. The breed’s name is “ Alsatian “ .
@@conniecrawford5231 In the UK the name was changed to Alsatian during WWII. The dog was popular in the Alsace region and used in the war by everyone (French, Germans and Brits) so it was just easier not to refer to them with the name of the enemy.. In 1977 the UK (officially) went back to calling these dogs German Shepherds....their original name.
I don’t understand how people chose their clothes for the dog shows. It’s like who can be the most outrageous. Weird clothes.
Pemberton Welsh Corgi,
So many people do not realize that the sloped back in the German Shepherd is not the problem, in fact it has a functional purpose. The real issue is when GSDs have a roached back or a "straight" back which are what result in the joint problems. Also, the slope of a dogs back will always be exaggerated in the 3 point stack seen in dog shows. It is true that American Line German Shepherds are very different from the German Line GSDs, but be aware that any dog that makes it to Westminster has beautiful conformation. Make sure you actually know what you're talking about before you speak as though you're an expert.
Aaron Trunzo.. I'm not speaking as if I'm an expert but from childhood having known a breeder who had police reserving her puppies because they were so well bred and they never had the exaggerated sloped backs.
Perhaps in all other areas its perfect but if you are defining beautiful as clearly exaggerated hind legs...many will disagree.
Too many things are being defined as beautiful in modern times that seem to not be in the best medical interest of the modern dog.
Im not a vet but if i was id definitely examine the standards of the breed and the ethics thereof.
There needed to be a mudi...
She missed the Belgian breeds!
Why do they hold the treat in front of their faces?
Because the dog will be judged a little better if giving an alert and cheery expression. That way they can judge how their ears sit (how close together, how far forward, how pointy or round Etc) and the shape of the dogs eyes etc
uniqueusername_1024 The handlers want to have that alert expression so the judge can see ear placement, head space, etc- it’s called “ baiting.”
The Vallhund was the best
I love it when people who know almost nothing about breeding dogs comments on how they look. E.g. the GSD.
Why do they always choose the same type of breeds for choosing the winner ...why not go with a different type of breed that's not known to win as much ...you get tired of looking at the same type of dog that always win
How much do those dog showers make? I could do that.

*EVERYBODY COMPLAINING ABOUT THE GSD*
it only looks that way when it is stacked. It is also trained to tun that way. The dog is in no distress, it is just the way it lands on its feet. It is perfectly natural.
You are contradicting yourself. In another comment you said that a few breeders started breeding that way and then the KC changed the breed standards.... So you have no clue and are standing up for the justification of unhealthy breeding and selective breeding.
