I was an avid runner before pregnancy. I’m 2.5 years postpartum and started Couch to 5k tonight. I hope to stick with it. I miss running, but I’m working with a completely different body now.
I just did my first run yesterday, and really trying to commit to a change- this video came at the perfect time for me, I felt it when u said ‘a win is a win’, I can run for 2 mins so I have a long way to go. Super proud of u! New sub!
I also did the Couch25K program and I would say it works. I’ve tried it several times and finally completed it a few months ago. I lost 40lbs over the last few years (170lbs-130lbs) and what I will say is that when I was heavier, I found it a lot harder to progress, I would have to repeat weeks but I was also in a very different mental space back then and I would run whilst eating my same poor diet which defo didn’t help. When I started it again in January after my weight loss, I found it easier to progress as my diet was healthier, I was lighter at the time (135lbs) and I’d build up a little endurance. I started on Week 5 and after a month was able to run 5K in 29 minutes. I would say the program works but you have to stick to it and be determined. The program is tried and tested, it works. Physically, you can do it but it’s a mental game. When you’re tired, you just have to push past the fatigue and the pain. It gets easier, you get stronger and you get used to it with time. Also, you have to improve your diet too if you’re looking for weight loss. I’ve noticed running with crap in my body just makes for a shit run. Since losing weight and changing my diet, I personally find running more enjoyable whereas I used to hate it before 😭💕
I you had to repeat weeks within the program and you had to restart trying it several times, it means that C25K does not work! It is good only for people who were fit to begin with. Most other people are only disheartened when they realize they cannot complete it and end up blaming themselves. Running 5K for someone who was never fit takes months of gradual buildup. I applaud this young woman for admitting it didn't work for her as many others are embarrassed to admit to it and end up perpetuating the lie. For different people of different ages and backgrounds, the journey to achieving the goal of running 5K can vary A LOT!!! Many will have to begin with plain walking and then short light jog-walk sessions for months.
@@mbarlev No, it did work because I was a couch potato that couldn’t run for even a minute and now I can run 5Ks & 10Ks. It all started with Couch 2 5K, so I’d say it does work! I only had to restart after falling off and not being consistent. And repeating weeks is normal, especially if you’re overweight and unfit. It shouldn’t feel like a weakness or a bad thing. You have to get your body used to running which the program helps with.
@vusan_ 😅 I thought that when I first started lol but I think it's better than running by yourself. You'll be motivated by the other runners to keep going 🙂
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been meaning to get back into running and this was the inspiration that I needed. The c25k app was a little too aggressive for me. In the past I opted for a 5K plan from @thismessyhappy. Their 10 week plan helped me reach my first 5K a few years back. Best of luck on your running journey!

I love how you said running makes you feel free. That sounds appealing xxx
Only when you don’t feel like you’re dying though Hahha ❤️

I enjoyed your honest review. 😊I'm on week 5 and its harder than it looks, but enjoying it x
Thank you! You got this!! 💪🏽
There's a 5k parkrun app, that you can do once you're ready to run with other people, it's like hundreds of people you're running with 👍🏾
There’s a park run by my house but I imagine I’d be the last to finish!!
