I have a Ranger Tin boat. I bought it new in 2021. Right off the bat I get a certified letter from Ranger that I had to go to the post office to sign for. It involved the gas refill intake on the back of the boat that was defective and for me to take it to any Ranger dealer and they had new parts to fix it. Well, I went to my selling dealer and the service manager said he got an e-mail about it from Ranger. to cut to the chase and after several e=mails from the dealer I got the new refill kit in 6 MONTHS. after they installed it, it was no better than the one that came with the boat. It would take 20 minutes to pump 3 gallon of gas in the boat. It still is an issue. Another thing that bothered us the boat would take on water. I am talking 2 gallon of water once you pulled the plug after loading the boat. We tried and tried to figure out where the water was coming from with no luck. We drove 90 miles to our selling dealer and left it the for a water test. They called use after 1 week and said they found the problem and it is fixed. And it was. When they built the boat they forgot to seal the back of the boat where the top deck is bonded to the hull. They forgot to seal the seam where the two meet. Water was coming up the back of the boat and leaking down into the bottom. When I pulled the plug, all this water would run out. All of this was under warranty. We really enjoy the boat and glad it was finally fixed. It is much heavier that the 2 tracker boats I had. Same style and length. Same 69 hp. The quality is better but so is the price. It was worth it. honestly, I can now say I look forward to every fishing trip.

Aluminum boats have gotten more popular or a lot of reasons. The biggest reason is how much nicer and better they have gotten, which puts more eyes on them. Boats in general have gotten more expensive and with that people look for cheaper options. You also have the fact that aside from aluminum boats typically having a smaller motor for the same size boat as their glass counterpart, you can rig these modern aluminum boats the same way you rig your glass boat. Locker layouts are similar to glass. You can run what ever graphs you want at the console and bow. So I own a Phoenix 920 Elite, but last spring I went and picked up a Vexus AVX1980 just as they rolled out the new models with the thicker hulls. I wanted something lighter that I could yank to different states and fish unfamiliar bodies of water with out so much concern of the boat being beat up a bit. I knew the Vexus boats were premium when it came to aluminum bass boats, but I never knew just how nice they were until I started fishing the thing. Is it as good as my Phoenix? No its not, but would I be unhappy if the 1980 was all I had. Absolutely not

I wish you would have asked him if or when White River was going to build a tin boat that would handle the 200 or 250 motors. I looked into them around 2010 when Ranger and Triton started building their tins and the sales guy told me he didn't think Ranger would ever build one to even use the 150. But of course now both Ranger and Tracker are doing it. Just checked local dealer today and they had a new Ranger 19 tin with 150 Merc. Problem was it was almost as much as their Triton 18 glass with a 200! No substitute for horsepower! Love this video Andy! Keep them coming.

I love hearing at the 12:00ish mark yall talking about the tin boats. I find it funny because of how chincy and flimsy the box store tin boats are, but down in Louisiana and other places where the toughest boats are always built out of aluminum. The difference is mass production, cheap ass aluminum, slapped together vs a high quality tin built like a Gator Trax. I said it. Hammer down !!!! I'll run any of those big water chops yall talking about and I don't back down for shit. But there's a night and day difference in a GT vs a ranger or bass tracker aluminum boat.

The difference is the thickness of the aluminum. The thickest aluminum most of these aluminum boat manufacturers want to use is .080". Then they just stack two pieces together for the bow section on some boats. Part of it is equipment limitations and workability but most of it comes right down to money.

    • @j.d.saccociates3313

You will have a few big dealers that will survive but we will lose tons of smaller dealers ships!! But you will do great !! Because they will be more an more older boats being patched on instead of having to make choice to live in a trailers to buy a 100 grand boat or have an old used boat an a very nice house to live. It’s coming mark my word the market will shrink. It’s just the way the economy is going. When I fish I see very, very few new boats.

The average one (tracker, ranger, lund ect) are narrow, terrible storage, ugly, and going to be mid five figures. I've never seen one I'd prefer to my 24 year old glass rig and I hate my glass rig. It would be a toss up between a brand new ranger aluminum and my 73 Chrysler BassRunner that was my first boat. Do your homework and find a good used glass rig and leave aluminum for soda cans

If you become a Yamaha dealer. I'll ship my boat from Florida for a repower.

Interest rates are really killing all the fun. LOL! Do you actually think a white river exclusive dealer is going to say their quality isn't good?! Nitro sells because of price...same with tin boats. Toby seems like a great dude, but please please wear some sunscreen! Want a well built big and fast boat... Get a puma sts. As for power pole... Customer service is awesome. Just sent me a new power pole shroud this week... No questions asked and quick shipping.

The main reason I’m not a Yamaha dealer is they want me to be a stocking dealer with a showroom. I don’t have the want, need or the space in my shop for that. Suzuki doesn’t care nor force that upon their dealers

Ranger parts department is atrocious. They don't have a website where customers can self serve, you have to call in and hope you get matched with someone who knows what the hell they're talking about. Their part numbers are pulled out of thin air, they refuse to provide the actual manufacture part number so you can source parts from mfg instead of Ranger.

  • @theINQBS

OK gonna half to call in a great Big BULLDOOKIE on the Ranger being the same Quality since 2008!!!
Johny bought Ranger and literally TOLD the employees this is how we're going to cut corners which is the same exact way he's been running Mako Boats since he acquired them, and we all KNOW how riddled with absurd issues those beautifully and flawlessly designed boats are.
Compartment lids cracking when stepped on and upon inspection the fiberglass inside the sandwiched gelcoat is completely raw with absolutly ZERO RESIN inside!!! Just go to your local Bass Pro Shops and look around the top shelves int he service department and you'll likely see a bunch of lids sitting around.
And kudos to Ranger employees for literally quitting rather than build such an inferior product!
Nitro Boats are no different than Rangers in terms of build practices and ultimately quality "or lack there of", but the flaws in craftsmanship would be far more easily identified by running them in saltwater which has zero mercy on anything.
Prices have leveled off because people seem to have come to their senses and have collectively decided too much is too much. And as stated, the absurd interest rates makes it that much dumber to commit to a mortgage payment on a luxury item that depreciates faster than anything you can spend your money on.
