That rationale is a bit flawed because the neurons do not get replaced. They last a lifetime. Instead, I like to point to the fact that whatever the body and brain are, their activity is what is being perceived. This casts the body in its correct role; an instrument and means of observation. Loved the puppet imagery! I'm so glad that you revisited the Heart Sutra's emptiness/form language to discuss the "form" part. I get the form is emptiness, but not so much the emptiness is form part. As you say "form is the Ultimate Reality made manifest so it's not really empty since it has the creativity to make the ideas or templates into form?
One of the traditional examples is the mirror. Can we say that a mirror is creative? It shows so many forms after all. The mirror shows itself through reflections. It is empty and always full of reflections.
@Suzanne You're right that there is a subtle issue in accepting that Emptiness is form. Emptiness is more fundamental than forms and does not cease to exist if there are absolutely no forms. It is somewhat like the equation of matter and energy. What you're saying is similar to saying that it is clear that matter is energy, but how can energy be just matter? Energy is not just matter. It can take shape as matter, or it can be visible but formless as light, or it can remain as potential energy. In the moment that there is perception, that there is any form, Emptiness is appearing as that form. So, it can be said Emptiness is this form. But Emptiness is not just this form, because the possible forms that can arise are infinite. And these infinite variations are, in fact, arising simultaneously within Emptiness. And beyond that remains an even greater infinity of just pristine and undisturbed Awareness, empty of all forms. Btw, this video came about as a result of one your other comments. Thanks for that.
