The bass guitar is the lead instrument on this whole album, Paul Ryder's playing is immense with the rhythm guitar and drums backing him up R.I.P. Horse
Ive loved the Mondays for years, and recently I’ve started listening to the Smiths, I was listening to big mouth strikes again and couldn’t help thinking that Johnny Marr on guitar reminded me of some early Mondays stuff.... particularly Kuff Dam and Tart Tart. I can’t help but think that The Smiths kind of influenced their early stuff, and let’s also remember that The Mondays kidnapped Jonny Marr years later and tried to get him to join the band
@@Steve-xo2ip talking about Smiths influence, there's the 90s band Placebo who covered "Bigmouth Strikes Again" and their guitar playing can be quite resembling of the Smiths at times, although sometimes mixed with noisier influences. My brother heard the intro of "Tart Tart" and thought it was an early Placebo song (he didn't know the Smiths back then)
I’m in hospital in Dublin. Thank fuck for the Mondays, keeping me alive and buzzing
