When one of the worlds greatest intellectuals lends their name to the front cover blurb, you know it's probably worth a look. So good to hear educated and reasonable people debating this subject. Too much of the mainstream media coverage of this subject is simply agenda-driven propaganda. Keep up the good work, GB News. Thank you so so so much for this much needed and long overdue discussion about this issue. Thank you GB News for being brave enough to explain this in clear, factual, unambiguous detail. The BBC should have had this discussion but are too in thrall to the ideology to talk about it. Instead they produce programmes for adults AND children that promote this belief system. I really don't see how calling a man with a sexual fetish "she" and "her" is polite. I think it's bonkers, and bowing to manipulation, not to mention insulting to women. Why isn't our automatic reaction to be "nice" to women and not call men "she" and "her"? We aren't "nice" and refer to transracials as "black". Why do women never get the same courtesies as other groups but must be endlessly courteous?
This is a male driven movement, based on male rights. Asking women to smile and be nice while these activists dismantle our rights and safe spaces is quintessentially misogynistic.

Very, very important. This has taught me a great deal. A real pleasure too to listen to an eloquent , humane, honest woman talking with such clarity. As she implies, compassion is so much more powerful than nasty self-serving ideology.
Such a good debate. Not something I would normally give up an hour and half to listen to but have ended up ordering the book. Wouldn't get to hear this in the MSM who have become lazy commentators masquerading as journalists. Real journalism requires real debate from people who have put in the time to understand it. Liked the point that Rugby is a Collision sport not a contact sport and the fact that gay people are having to come out of retirement to re-defend their position. I worry about what young people are being taught but more importantly what they subsequently believe and internalise as they will not be able to articulate their way out of it if they later dont believe in it.

Ms. Joyce is fantastic! Especially at the 52 minute mark where she and Andrew talk about journalism and how one asks questions until there's understanding. I'm a career scientist and that's how I was made aware of the absurdity of gender identity ideology: Ask a few clarifying questions and you're shut down. The ideology is indefensible. Joyce speaks so well and does such thorough research. Great discussion, Clear, powerful and compelling (okay, I sound like I'm writing one of those endorsement blurbs for a book, but nonetheless.

Helen Joyce is the person I’ve been waiting for who can put all this gender ideology craze into perspective and get her arms around the madness of it all. It may be well intentioned but it's time to review whether we're really tackling mental health in adolescents the right way. Oh I've just nearly fallen off my chair.... I searched googles for the part of the male anatomy they were talking about; yes it does come up with razors!! I've really enjoyed this interview as this is a subject I struggle to understand. A lot of it doesn't make sense to me, I'm in my late 50's with a teenage niece so I like to try keep up to date with things. My niece was brain washed in school about non binary etc as myself and her parents think you're either M or F and that's it. As a family we are doing everything we can to make sure she grows into a well balanced adult but it's not easy.
You should look up Benjamin Boyce , he interviews detransitioners, therapists, academics, doctors. If you sat your niece down just to watch a handful I bet her opinion will change . Hope this helps 😋
The gem arrives late in the episode - ‘A thought - ending cliche.’ Perfect! I remember being incredibly impressed by Thomas Sowell’s similar view that, for example, ‘Diversity is strength’ is a STATEMENT without an ARGUMENT.
34:59 it will be interesting when the balance finally tips and everyone who is currently too afraid to speak out and state the truth about biological sex; that men cannot become women though they can 'feel' feminine. Because this fact is shared by the vast majority of the population. The pushback will be huge and many will feel relieved to be able to express their (not transphobic) opinion. I am concerned that there may be a backlash against genuine transexual people and those in the gay communities and I hope that this doesn't happen. We must ensure that it does not.

I don’t really agree that it’s just “there is not limit to progressivism”, it seems more a piece of “we are not limited by being human”, i.e. the way we now use medicine to extend our lifespans and improve our quality of life, and also the rise of the internet and other virtual realities meaning we become more and more enamoured of the idea that we can escape our bodies. I wonder what you imagine a limit to “the progression of progressivism” to look like? I see the later phases of progressive ideologies being an attempt to head towards a society that is post-race, post-class, post-gender, post-ageing, post-disability - I think that’s the utopian vision that is imagined, and in fairness there is a great deal progressivism has achieved that previous generations (e.g. pre Industrial Revolution) would never have imagined.

Of course I am not against all steps to improve Man’s lot, either in the past or now, but I do believe that there is very great danger in efforts to change our fundamental nature and redefine what it is to be human. Fantastic and important conversation, I’ll be buying Helen’s book. I do not understand why the Trans activists are so against the truth, they should be upset about all the lies that are told not about long understood biological truths. I have an adult son, he loved wrestling and we used to rough and tumble when he was a child, I have a clear memory of him being able to over power me when he was 11 years old, he was shorter and lighter in weight than me but his male physicality was already dominant. I hold no delusions about my physical limitations as a woman in comparison to men, this realisation doesn’t upset me it’s just life.

Very, very important. This has taught me a great deal. A real pleasure too to listen to an eloquent , humane, honest woman talking with such clarity. As she implies, compassion is so much more powerful than nasty self-serving ideology.
Helen is strikingly clear minded on this subject. This sounds like an important book, i cant wait to read it.

Such a good debate. Not something I would normally give up an hour and half to listen to but have ended up ordering the book. Wouldn't get to hear this in the MSM who have become lazy commentators masquerading as journalists. Real journalism requires real debate from people who have put in the time to understand it. Liked the point that Rugby is a Collision sport not a contact sport and the fact that gay people are having to come out of retirement to re-defend their position. I worry about what young people are being taught but more importantly what they subsequently believe and internalise as they will not be able to articulate their way out of it if they later dont believe in it.
I have learnt so much listening to this ... a subject of which I was totally oblivious.
It's fascinating to listen to these two unravelling these bizarre new beliefs.

Ms. Joyce is fantastic! Especially at the 52 minute mark where she and Andrew talk about journalism and how one asks questions until there's understanding. I'm a career scientist and that's how I was made aware of the absurdity of gender identity ideology: Ask a few clarifying questions and you're shut down. The ideology is indefensible. Joyce speaks so well and does such thorough research. Great discussion, Clear, powerful and compelling (okay, I sound like I'm writing one of those endorsement blurbs for a book, but nonetheless.
I love Andrew's interviews and this one doesn't disappoint.

Thank you for this wonderful interview GB News. Sooo needed. I'm so frustrated and saddened that this is not being discussed more openly due to fear of abuse. I am 7 months pregnant and I am petrified about how gender is being discussed in education, even with very little children. I'm so concerned that my own child may be brainwashed.
Helen Joyce is the person I’ve been waiting for who can put all this gender ideology craze into perspective and get her arms around the madness of it all. She makes it easily comprehensible to people new to the subject. Andrew is a surprisingly good interviewer, thoughtful and sincere, so many men with a libertarian streak are off-puttingly arrogant show offs. Very impressed.

You guys are so right about the social contagion. My daughter admits that she got the idea for self harm from school so called education programmes. It makes me so angry. It may be well intentioned but it's time to review whether we're really tackling mental health in adolescents the right way. Imo...more focus on being a resourceful & useful human would lead to less of the isolation & narcissism that breeds so much of this anxiety.

Oh I've just nearly fallen off my chair.... I searched googles for the part of the male anatomy they were talking about; yes it does come up with razors!! I've really enjoyed this interview as this is a subject I struggle to understand. A lot of it doesn't make sense to me, I'm in my late 50's with a teenage niece so I like to try keep up to date with things. My niece was brain washed in school about non binary etc as myself and her parents think you're either M or F and that's it. As a family we are doing everything we can to make sure she grows into a well balanced adult but it's not easy.
You should look up Benjamin Boyce , he interviews detransitioners, therapists, academics, doctors. If you sat your niece down just to watch a handful I bet her opinion will change . Hope this helps 😋

34:59 it will be interesting when the balance finally tips and everyone who is currently too afraid to speak out and state the truth about biological sex; that men cannot become women though they can 'feel' feminine. Because this fact is shared by the vast majority of the population. The pushback will be huge and many will feel relieved to be able to express their (not transphobic) opinion. I am concerned that there may be a backlash against genuine transexual people and those in the gay communities and I hope that this doesn't happen. We must ensure that it does not.
Please get Helen back on... When you were talking about sporting advantage you didn't mention Fallon fox, the trans MMA fighter, who broke a woman's skull in the ring

It does NOT mean that male-bodied-TW have a place in women's weightlifting though.
LH stole the place of a biological woman in order to compete. Indeed, LH had to formally *qualify* in order to secure the single weightlifting place allowed for NZ, in place of an actual biological woman.
LH has been placed on podiums with biological women in the past, taking medals meant for women. IT.IS.WRONG!
When will it change, and fairness/reality return to women's sports? Perhaps never if we do not all rise up and challenge the ideology.

This collapse into the acceptance of fatuous notions of the infinite malleability of humanity without any limits is the result of a number of factors.
1) the well-meaning idea that anyone can start out from birth and become anything he or she might want
2) the idea that there is no limit to the progression of so-called progressivism.
3) the idea that anything that can be conceived of can and eventually must be made manifest in the everyday world

I don’t really agree that it’s just “there is not limit to progressivism”, it seems more a piece of “we are not limited by being human”, i.e. the way we now use medicine to extend our lifespans and improve our quality of life, and also the rise of the internet and other virtual realities meaning we become more and more enamoured of the idea that we can escape our bodies.
I wonder what you imagine a limit to “the progression of progressivism” to look like? I see the later phases of progressive ideologies being an attempt to head towards a society that is post-race, post-class, post-gender, post-ageing, post-disability - I think that’s the utopian vision that is imagined, and in fairness there is a great deal progressivism has achieved that previous generations (e.g. pre Industrial Revolution) would never have imagined.

Of course I am not against all steps to improve Man’s lot, either in the past or now, but I do believe that there is very great danger in efforts to change our fundamental nature and redefine what it is to be human. In the case of the more extreme calls for change or for acceptance of change no matter how draconian or fringe-serving, there is little or no consideration of the potential harms that may arise from these increasingly intolerant demands for immediate recognition and implementation.
Helen did an excellent interview on Ayaan Hirsi Ali's podcast too. All of which are worth a listen regarding trans and women's rights.
Fantastic and important conversation, I’ll be buying Helen’s book. I do not understand why the Trans activists are so against the truth, they should be upset about all the lies that are told not about long understood biological truths. I have an adult son, he loved wrestling and we used to rough and tumble when he was a child, I have a clear memory of him being able to over power me when he was 11 years old, he was shorter and lighter in weight than me but his male physicality was already dominant. I hold no delusions about my physical limitations as a woman in comparison to men, this realisation doesn’t upset me it’s just life.
