This is an EXCELLENT video. In recent times several oral health "gurus" have emerged, and they challenge the traditional practices. I had put some trust into Dr. Ellie Phillips and her "method", but I soon gave up on that. Now listening to Dr. Mark Burhenne I recognize his vast expertise in nutrition in addition to just dental care. I am an 81 year old senior in perfect health, which I attribute to following the recently emerging theories about nutrition, healthy metabolism, intermittent fasting, and in the last decade my bad experiences with cavities since childhood have vanished to zero dental problems in the last decade. I attribute this to never using mouthwash, brush with baking soda, taping my lips to breathe through my nose at night, and doing some oil pulling. I am pleased how these practices coincide with some of Dr. Burhenne's advice, and I have started to include his other advice like now using a toothpaste with nano- hydroxyapatite and flossing with the Slate flosser. Even before this, my blood pressure has been ideal, and I am confident that I am doing the best for my health.

Wow I’m so glad to hear this. You definitely have it figured out! There are a lot of dentists still making recommendations out there who are ignorant of the new research on the oral microbiome. It’s just another example of where a patient knows more than a practitioner. This is the wonderful thing about the internet.

Late but yeah I watched one video by Ellie Phillips which was her entire routine and I immediately questioned the whole thing. Does her methods work? Probably. Are they ideal and what you should do? No, there’s better science.

This call was so informative. I am dentist shy, but I have had 3 root canals. This 1st one was necessary because there was an infection. The other 2 were not because there were just cracked teeth that could have been "covered" with a crown. Wow!
I use a mixture of bentonite clay, baking soda, and charcoal. Peppermint essential oil is added for test. So far so good.
The mouth breathing vs the nasal breathing is amazing. Great call! Thank you!

Thanks, Dr. Mark Burhenne and the mbg Podcast team for such an enlightening episode! After checking with Kriss AI, I learned even more about the balance needed with fluoride-how it’s beneficial at controlled levels but can pose risks like neurological effects. Really sparked my interest in how my oral health habits impact my overall wellness. Looking forward to more great discussions!

This is a new and emerging field in dentistry and I applaud you for bringing it up. The tricky part is getting the red light into the mouth. But yes! I’ll be sharing morn information on this on my channel/podcast.

I followed Dr Ellie Philips protocol having never used mouthwash before and I developed a terrible mouth infection when I stopped. Neither the dentists nor doctor knows what it is. It’s not thrush. My palate and tongue shed but it’s not completely gone. I am back to flossing and using Boka toothpaste. I’m hoping it will come right 😢

Yes. Dr. Phiilips comments that sorbitol is terrible but the products she uses in her system have sorbitol as one of the first ingredients.
I never had bad breath in the morning until I tried to assist him for about a month so I stopped.

what about discussing Hormone balance as this affects Oral health as well and genetics. Each person is so different. I have a lot of saliva and have periodontal disease. I brush, floss, water floss and still have infections. Never ends. Drink so much water with oral probiotics plus probiotics and collagen.

Boka is a great brand, I recommended it for a long time. Fluoride free and uses nano-Hydroxyapatite which is what’s in your teeth. I just wish they wouldn’t use surfactants and emulsifiers and that’s why I created Fygg toothpaste.
