For a month I ate only every other day. On my feeding day I ate 2 meals: no sugar, no flour. Felt great, no hunger, more energy. Now I'm eating daily, but only 1 meal/day. No sugar, flour foods (breads, pasta, pancakes, bakery items). Few oz. meat/fish per meal, lots of veggies, salad. Never felt better. I only have healthy foods in the house and don't eat in restaurants.
Same with my mom, same age except heart failure. All the symptoms of beri beri. As long as big (f)arma is in control, nothing will change. Thank you for your honesty & courage Dr. Means.
I’ve listened to a vast number of metabolism presentations, but this stands out. Dr. Means’s eloquence and economy of expression is a great gift to us all.
Last month I got a call from a friend wanting me to go on a vacation to Australia (I live in San Diego) Three WEEKS later I get an email saying this lady is in hospice care with end stage pancreatic cancer. I just went for my first blood test ever at age 75. I told the doctor (MD) I fast and she asked me "why do you fast?". I'm part of the 6.8%.
@@Vokdor1it varies through out the month. I did in and out of fasting because of hormones .. I am wrapping up a 42 hr fast today it’s my 3 rd this month other days it varies from 13-24 hrs
This is so great! I would love to see you interview THOMAS TADLOCK and his wife DR. BROOK GOLDER! They are heavy on the science as it pertains to metabolism and cell nourishment!! ❤❤❤
My favorite go-to sweet treat is dark chocolate chunks and nuts (typically walnuts or pecans). I get the nuts and chocolate in the baking section. Peanut butter & chocolate are amazing. It was my craving when preggo with both kids. 😋
A typical Korean meal includes all the five. Yes, they eat rice, as well. i’m going to suppose that when all the five are available, rice becomes something of a palate cleanser, and they eat less of it.
I have a question. I have been carnivore since May 2024. Previously my basal “normal” temp of 97.6. Now seems like my normal is 98.6-99 degrees. Is this normal and is it an indication of my body returning to better mitroc health?
Those 40 trillion cells are not only doing trillions of chemical reactions per second, they also all have membranes that are made of cholesterol. The notion of taking a statin to strip away a good bit of the cholesterol and not do serious long term damage to the organs and body in the process,.....is ridiculous.
There are cutting edge scientists who have associated depression and anxiety with an unhealthy microbiome. Could be worth having a microbiome screen 🥰🙏
Nutritional Psychology is an immerging field. Look up all you can about Dr Chris Palmer. He is a Harvard Psychologist treating a wide range of psychological conditions with primarily ketogenic diets, but it is keto with a some of the other metabolism boosting lifestyle interventions. Like sleep, exercise, and circadian rhythm adherence. He has seen improvements in OCD, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. Oftentimes these were treatment-resistant that suddenly became more manageable when the patient was observant on a ketogenic diet. But anything you do that improves your overall metabolism, will improve your overall health. Good luck. I'm scared to death of the depression meds, so I try and manage exclusively on diet and lifestyle. But it certainly isn't easy.
Dr. Georgia Ede has written a book, Change Your Diet Change Your Mind. She is a Harvard trained psychiatrist who has helped many students at Harvard get off all their Psych Meds by changing their diet. She has really done groundbreaking work.
Refer to her conversation with Dr Andrew Huberman . They have provided a complete guide from how to ask your DR to prescribe these tests and what tests one should get.
Perfect word for our so-called medical institutions from drug companies right on up to hospitals/Dr's. I am totally addicted to Dr Means. She is soo knowledge driven.
Good luck to you! Maybe listening to Dr Michael Greger here on RUclips can provide helpful suggestions. Also Dr Andrew Weil might have some good talks on healthy aging.

In the UK the NHS doctors get paid when they prescribe meds for diabetes, high cholesterol and BP meds
Wow - is that true ? - I never knew this 😮
After checking the biomarkers, I am in the category of metabolism healthy group 😊 will keep it up with my diet

13 days is unbelievable, crazy how fast it can end. You never know

I have just radically changed my diet, etc. How quickly can I hope to feel results.
Along these lines? Just weeks.
Very fast imo. Just connect to your body sensations.

doesn't salmon contain astaxanthin, an antioxidant?
Yes 🤔
So true that we are buffeted with the “scary place” AND so many lack of faith in God, there in lies the problem.

What about when you take meds that affect your metabolism like anti depressants - can’t live without them - but they effect my weight?
