When I think Abaddon, Warmaster of chaos, the shadow of Horus, I think a massive astartes flanked with many of the most decorated Black Legion astartes chaos has to offer, with as much bravado to make even Slaneesh blush and pride himself in joy and terrifying enough for Khorne to grope the armrests of his skull throne with delight. I expected him to be more determined than those immortals who have received the gift of Nurgle and as cunning as the thousand sons in the arts of combat and deception, with the charisma to even sway Kharne the Betrayer and his horde into his crusade. I think of a man who could lead the remnants of a 10 millennia old rebellion without falter, a man who somehow kept his legion together even with 12 botched crusades. What I fucking see here is a single bloody chaos marine that does not look anything special nor could be differentiated with the other chaos space marines besides having the Chaos united logo as his belt. What the hell GW, TTS Emperor would have done such a better job even if it would have inevitably turned into a comedic scene. Jesus Christ GW sacrificed so much awesome fan shows for this crap? Also, I know Horus is an absolute pussy in basically everything he does and is only still alive thanks to plot armour but since GW is trying their damnest to make him the main fucking villain of the Chaos vs the Imperium part of 40k, then let my expectations be.
I have a suspicion that this is Trazyn in disguise. But yeah, there was no reason to put Abbadon in this episode. It could have been any random Chaos Lord.
I'm not defending GW, but, dude, Abbadon was on screen for about 40 seconds total. There's only so much characterization you can give him in that amount of time.
That was the kindest shot from a stormbolter in the history of the weapon. It was like a soft massage to the face of that soon to be resurrected Necron.
"And in exchange for this gift, you will have the only mercy you deserve" "Whaaaat, oh no please dont shoot me in the head that would mean I would die and cease to exist entirely dont do that oh nooo"
Terminator armor is what got me into 40k. The thought of a fucking 2 ton suit of power armor built to shrug off all manner of shit that’d leave a regular space marine blasted to bloody ribbons, that wields weapons usually mounted on vehicles, and wields them one-handed no less. A 9 foot tall armored juggernaut made of steroids, metal and hate, smashing his way through your fortified position, one handing a fucking autocannon and crushing enemies to pulp with a giant, mechanized fist. What’s not to love?

even better actually. Trazyn traps this entire squad of Terminators and some Dark Eldar in a Tesseract Labyrinth to infinitely fight over the artifact that was mentioned

Good call on Mortarion, but remember Abaddon needs to instil fear in the cruellest and meanest creatures in the galaxy (not to mention the warp). 10,000 years of a bitter descent into evil would turn anyone into a monster.
Necrons phase out and return to be "reborn". Or just start repairing etc. I remember they did that in DOW games as well. But obviously this was done poorly haha

He already had a deep voice when he was a regular loyalist but due to exposure to remnants of the emperor’s power his throat got messed up and his eyes turned gold.
They're already using 3D models for Terminators, Marines and other complex machinery, and they're also animated at a really low framerate so they'll blend in with the choppy 2D stuff. Good Gods, this show desperately needs more budget.
I found his voice to be a perfect fit here. The only other time that i heard a perfect voice was in one of the first Horus Heresy audio-novels. ( I forgot the title ) But already after Erebus forced Horus's hand. Where the effects of that had caused the Mournival to split. Gavriel Loken kept a remembrance as a companion, during a scene Gavriel Loken was sparring against a training machine and had been for many hours. He had just been cut by the sparring machine when Abaddon walked in to confront Gavriel about something. Abaddon sees the wound and said/ asked surprisingly. "You bleed!?" Voice actors do great jobs, sometimes perfect jobs. BFGAII's Abaddon voice was the worst i heard xD. Way to deep, sounded deeper than a death metal album. I also worship how these scenes captured how impossibly ancient Abaddon is. and by extend the terminators and his wargear being what it is. Abaddon for certain is 10.000 years old and if we'd wager in the warp. ( which may have made him younger. ) but more likely makes him potentially far older than 10.000 years. And the difference to what he was when he first fought in the legion, considerably younger and who he became later after 10.000 and more years. We often look upon space marines as young, especially now because of the Primaris which are like newborns really. But space marines are well and truly aged in warhammer 40k... Orks, Eldar, Necrons have been fighting space marines for an extremely long time. And the space marines still fucking endure. Best thing about 40k fiction is that it is said it captures only glimpses of this so called reality.
Abandon doesn't sound like that or look like that his eyes glow gold, his teeth are suppose to have runes carved in them that word off demons and all in all Abandon is far more reasonable....listen to the audio book The Talon Of Horus, best describes him all in all even the chaos marines are not what you'd expect. Thats because everyone wants it to be like their big titty animes. Im soooo happy it has a western style. Thats what makes warhammer good, its inspired nearly entirely by western culture.
@@nullakjg767 I'm worried about what you consider western style. Venture Bros is in a "western style" for example, as is Rick 'nd Morty, and people love those. What they dislike about Hammer and Bolter is that it's clear that talented people made this, but they only had a very short budget/amount of time. The skeletons in a lot of scenes remind me of new ground animations: they have very few joints, and you can tell that the walking animations have been done by moving the sprites up and down. It's not so bad if it's a free animation on the internet, terribly cheap for something monetised. This is not the culmination of western style animation, it's a cheap example of it.
@@Sir_Bucket Funny, I think both venture bros looked way worse in its first season then hammer and bolter does. And thats not what makes a series good now is it? Because rick and morty got better animation and its absolutely terrible now. Also newgrounds literally inspired an entire generation of digital animators. Not sure why you think thats a bad thing. If you want fluid animation, their upcoming series "Interregator" seems to have that, and angels of death is more polished then helsreach was despite coming out in a fraction of the time. And you people are dishonest anyway pretending to care about animation. When it comes to TTS, animation quality has no bearing on peoples enjoyment, but when it comes to hammer bolter all of the sudden its the end all be all of what makes good media? And lets be real, the fans are the ones who made talented animators like SODAZ and Louis sparks quit making animations all together. Its well documented they quit because of harassment in the youtube community. Maybe if you want smooth 40k animations, you and your cronies should stop harassing up and coming animators into quitting. All because they committed the crime of wanting to be paid for their labor and make official canonical animations and contribute to the lore/hobby. Not that you understand the desire to create, only destroy.
Being infused with Warp Essence has nothing natural in it, hell! Even being an Astartes is unnatural, the point of your comment is nowhere to be found.
It’s not that it’s bad. It’s that a motion comic is an acceptable thing to see from an independent fan animation, not from an officially bankrolled thing.

@@PelinalDidNothingWrong I feel like art style would be acceptable if, say, Warhammer+ was putting out absolute bangers and it was clear that the motion comic style was solely an art direction choice. Like if Netflix put out a motion comic series and all other things being equal, I wouldn’t criticize it based on that art style. Context always matters. It’s just that the same style is attractive for independent creators as well because it (in theory) cuts budget and time costs. If the same independent creator gets officially bankrolled, it’s reasonable for me to expect a higher standard, because the big constraint that led them to use that style is lifted. If the Tomb world had its systems damaged or shut down, any Necron that gets destroyed is gone for good. So it's a valid assumption that the Cryptek is a goner. It turned out SPOILERS that it's Trazyn the guy has a back up body and engram braodcasters out of the wazoo.
He should have known that if a Necron teleports after such damage, then they found a place to get repairs. He's an incredible failure.
What I like in particular about his appearance here is how he looks absolutely identical to his 2019 tabletop model. The armour, the sword, his flowing crimson hair, even the placement of the various skulls on his standard (along with that one dangling from a chain on his belt) is _immaculate._
If only allll of it was animated ffs

Trazyn the infinite a appears out of the ether, snatches the relic, and vanishes with laughter
even better actually. Trazyn traps this entire squad of Terminators and some Dark Eldar in a Tesseract Labyrinth to infinitely fight over the artifact that was mentioned
I can still remember reading about terminators kneeling before abaddon and that it was a slow thing altogether…since terminator armor isn’t made to do that.
Glad the animators here have shown yet again the consistency in the warhammer 40k Universe lore xD
The only productive thing Abaddon does is kill an immortal robot that is setting them up for a trap.
I don't like the "ALL EVIL" voice of Abaddon. I think more human voice, not speaking in slow motion, would be enough. This one suits Mortarion more.
Good call on Mortarion, but remember Abaddon needs to instil fear in the cruellest and meanest creatures in the galaxy (not to mention the warp). 10,000 years of a bitter descent into evil would turn anyone into a monster.

His conversation with Loken made me like Abaddon more.
By the end of the book I ordered a chaos space marine starter set...

Behold, the most unsatisfying boltgun shot ever.
It’s feels more comic book than animation. Which is isn’t as terrible as everyone says.
reminds me of the battlefleet gothic cutscenes.
Thats because everyone wants it to be like their big titty animes. Im soooo happy it has a western style. Thats what makes warhammer good, its inspired nearly entirely by western culture.
Maybe, but when they nuke fan content…

This show is nowhere near as bad as people told me. It feels more like a motion comic though
It’s not that it’s bad. It’s that a motion comic is an acceptable thing to see from an independent fan animation, not from an officially bankrolled thing.
@@loganb7059 I totally understand that. If this was done by a few people in their spare time then yeah,it'd be impressive but for an official series,it does leave a lot to be desired. I like the artstyle though
But like I said, context is king.
