The showrunners either had the worst timing in human history or they knew something we didn't. 😂

Historically, pandemics happen every 100 years. If we would have listened to Scientists, we all would have known.

The timing is what it is. The novel that the show is based on was published in 2014, after SARS(1) and MERS.

@@rachaelbly6714 why do pandemics occur every 100 years?

@@april2782 that didn’t answer my question. Why do they occur every 100 years like clockwork?

This may be my favorite TV series of the last decade. Glad to see it appears to be “trending” according to the HBO app. I’m a fan of Last of Us - but Station Eleven is far superior in every way imo.

My daughter got me to start watching TLOU and I had her watch Station Eleven, it was my third time seeing it and I caught so much more watching it with her (ep 7 is her favorite too)

I think fans of Station 11 should give The OA on Netflix a shot. The first season was soo good in many of the same ways Station 11 was great.

The Leftovers has been my favourite show ever since I watched it the first time (and remained so the subsequent 6 times I've watched it), but now that I've watched this... goddamn, I think we have a tie. And it did in one season what Leftovers did to me in three! Still overlooking the damage from this timebomb of joy detonating right in my face.

There's a scene in episode 7 in which a faceless voice on the television speaks about the pandemic. That's unmistakably the voice of Nick Offerman, but he's not credited. Might never have noticed if I hadn't just before watched the episode of The Last of Us in which he plays survivalist Bill.

You know what else is meta, doing an adaptation of a book around a pandemic about a theater troup that goes around doing Shakespeare around a pandemic. Because Survival is insufficient.

I surprised this doesn,t have a cult following but it will
This show is just something that has to be found by people.
The more people who alert others to this masterpiece the better.

this show is such a breath of fresh air for the post apocalypse genre. so many other Post Apocalypse shows are just entirely focused on world building and use trauma as set dressing and plot devices. this is the one one i know of that does an honest exploration of trauma and survivors’s guilt
