Thanks for the video. It’s worth mentioning that trim also serves to overwrite or fine-tune existing automation data while having the best fader resolution available. It’s more than just an offset position for the automation.
They’ve pushed out a good update or two and have a solid implementation at this point. Still no plugin control. Maybe they are cooking up an award winning turkey dinner for us.
What's up Steve, question; how do you delete automation? I always go back to Luna . I have Studio One , Pro Tools, Cubase. Luna is my go to Daw. It's the most straight forward and sounds great. You're my Luna Guru. You definitely knocked the learning curve down quite a bit. So thanks . I purchased your Vocal presets, you got some gems in there. Do you have any with plugins that don't come with the APOLLO? Like the 1073 ,SSL, Disstressor and the other beauties UA has. I'm sure you got all the iconic emulations. I'm purchasing the SphereDLX. Can't wait to fool around with that beast. Maybe in one of your upcoming LUNA tutorials you can tell us your method of dumping the mix to a print track. I have a way but sometimes I have issues. Thanks my friend.
Hey mate, thanks so much for the support, and stoked the you've enjoyed the presets. I do have some. I've kind of halted my progress on the presets at the moment, because UA seems to be rebuilding their entire library onto UADx and because of this - I don't wanna build out a preset product that is extremely compartmentalized. I want it easy to install, easy to use, and offer a ton of value.. going plugin by plugin would make my website SUPER overcrowded and hard to navigate and find what you want IMO.. but I'm constantly working on it / prepping what I can bring to my channels community. I LOVE your video idea on the mix print track.. I think a video along the lines of "alright I'm done.. what do I do now" would be great.. covering the steps of what I do to literally print the track, and wrap the project.. including archiving, printing down tracks for final storage etc. I'm adding this to my video list for sure. If you decide to roll with the DLX from Sweetwater, (shameless plug) consider using one of my affiliate links in the description to take you to Sweetwater. They really value that sort of thing and helps me be able to stand out to them as a creator -which will allow me to make more partnered videos on new gear as it releases. Anyways, thanks for your great idea! hopefully I answered your initial question. Cheers mate!
Yeah I dig it! 4K. Great for up close, from far away, I’d wanna drop the resolution down. 43” computer monitor. Not actually a tv. It’s an acer dmk43 or something like that! Cheers mate!
Hey Steve, thanks for these awesome videos. BTW, I use a Jelly Comb trackball mouse that is bluetooth and I've never lost connection with it. Take Care!
That’s badass, thanks for the recommendation! I tried a few and landed back at the newer version of the apple mouse. It helps that I found one 50% off space grey brand new at a second hand store ha ha couldn’t say no.
@@68Snaps The trim feature lets you adjust the overall level of automation while preserving the underlying automation. This is useful when you want to raise or lower the level of automation without overwriting it.
@@TheSteveKinney That's what I call a "scale factor". Thanks. It's great feature if I go overboard with the automation. I won't have to completely rewrite it! Thanks again for all the videos!
Yes, you can. Put the track into touch or latch mode and start writing the data. Or you can change the track view and choose to manually put the data in.
@@jordanclarfield9043 multi channel out isn’t really part of automation. Also - I have definitely mentioned it plenty of times on the channel. The multi channel midi out can be worked around pretty easily, but it is a slight pain point and something that I’d imagine they would be have to have on their list of things to implement.
Is there a shortcut key command that enables you to switch between the views, i.e. press a key and it switches from clip view to volume automation view on the track? Cheers!
Never tried! But it’s good idea for an experiment. Would be curious to know myself, obviously you’d have to do this automation before you track. Alternatively - you could record with it in the normal insert slot and then print that after recording.
Love your vids, Steve.. super informative. Quick question, how do you put a long fade on a final mix when using e-drums/midi? Do you write automation on the main or ?? Thanks in advance for your help
Yup! I’ll usually automate the master bus or the “main” track. Alternatively - if you have an SSL G-Bus, you could always trigger/automate the “auto fade” button. Works just as well. Cheers!

Thanks SkennyMane! I’m doing my thing either way - with or without the subs. 😎
Thanks for watching and stopping by. Cheers mate!
Very helpful thank you! I've been a silly boy and wasted so much time not understanding latch, trim, etc automation controls
Steves a great teacher and explains every piece of the Luna puzzle down very nicely. Nice work once again!
Cheers John!
Got a few more of these coming in just another day or so
Very good I wish there were 1-2-1 sessions on how to improve our LUNA projects
I do offer 1 on 1 mentoring. You can book through my website.
Great overview automation for LUNA and other daws as well.

For the sake of the video I kept it as simple as I could and forgot to included this one, thanks Luk!

Your videos are amazing. Thanks Steve!
Thanks for the info, found it helpful.
Thanks for adressing the control surface issue!! MCU should be duck soup for UA to implement....
