      Were they really underrated though? I mean, the critics loved them, the fans loved them, and they seemed to have a pretty big fanbase consisting of people who might not even be into that kind of music otherwise. I personally think they were perfectly rated.

    • @nicolasa.3192
      @nicolasa.3192 3 года назад +6

      @@SJ-ym4yt Fair point, but they didn't get a large amount of attention compared to other metalcore/mathcore adjacent bands. They were something special, I think they deserved to be one of the bigger ones. The only reasons I can think of _why_ they weren't as big is because of... well... _points at all the clips of them bleeding on stage and throwing amps into the crowd._
      They were a little too hardcore for the average person to enjoy. They're discography is kind of all over the place, some tracks are completely unlistenable to a person who doesn't like this kind of music, whereas tracks like Milk Lizard can be shown to the normiest of normie and you don't have to worry about scaring them off.

    • @noBearAdventures
      @noBearAdventures 10 месяцев назад

      @@SJ-ym4ytI think they’re considered “underrated” the same way FNM is considered underrated. As in… everyone in the scene, the industry, the fans, their peers, the press… they all know. They understand what they mean/meant to music as a whole.
      It’s that you’ll never get to take that hammer to everyone’s face so they can see it too. Because some people just can’t be reached, and there’s only so much time.
      That’s how I see the word “underrated” when you’re talking about a very select few artists. FNM and Dillinger are the two who immediately stand out in my mind when someone says that.

    I saw Dillinger 3 times in Memphis TN. Craziest shhhhh I have ever seen. Singer was blowing fire into a overpacked club of about 650 people. I think they were in the crowd more than they were on stage. Set everything on fire and lots of broken noses in the first 2 songs all three times

    This band made me crazy at their shows. I’m usually standing back with a light mosh here and there. But I remember seeing them in Berlin around 2015 and I was that annoying guy jumping off stage 3 times per song. Liam ended up kicking me in the ass literally and was super pissed haha. I love Dillinger. I miss them a lot. Fucking powerhouse.

      My pleasure! I'm so glad I could. I felt very lucky and privileged to be there for it. I initially felt the same way but I have to say honestly that it's poetic to me that they started the night with Proceed with Caution and ended with Dissociation to bookend their first and last recorded songs. I thought going into it that it would be 43% though

  • @xx7secondsxx
    @xx7secondsxx Год назад

    The fact they opened with Proceed!!!
    My gawd! How genius!!!
    Opening with that and not playing "3 for flinching" the same set!!!
    Crazy!! Best songs of their debut.
    The Mullet burden ep n then Calculating?
    My GAWDDAMN!!!! this band was DIFFERENT from all!!
    Saw them open for DANZIG or MISFITS.
    I think Danzig.
    Theybstile the show by Dimitri blowing huge fireballs to the big end hits in 43%burnt and the fact they were doing metalcore guitar swings n stuff at the time!
    I'd NEVER heard something soooooo heavy it broke the walls of music down to where its so heavy!... its beyond a normal song.
    Then the skills!! Scales and sweeps!
    I'd NEVER heard or seen that!
    They're something else!

    I went to the Orlando show during this tour the day after a gnarly car accident and head trauma, ironically was standing under a giant speaker when Greg climbed up it and signaled the crowd to come closer to dive into it, I was like NOOO but YESSS but ILL DIEEE so I ran away and took a picture of him mid air . Still the hardest shit I've ever witnessed. RIP TDEP

    • @ENFIDL

      I'm not sure we will ever find anyone who has that genuine energy and aggression that marries up with their music like DEP did. I've seen others who are high energy and stuff but it seemed forced or it didn't match their music. Their music was just the perfect platform for them to display their art in that way and GD do I love them for it

      The Armed from Detroid a really true follower of DEP, pretty experimental and in places even heavier than they (3rd EP Spreading Joy). Chris Pennie - the original and best drummer of DEP, recorded drums for their three EPs. All Music are totally free so check it! And about the 1st album - These are lights. They ignore it's existance on this days due to some legal issues but it still avable on iTunes and I can share with you original mp3 archive from 2009 with artwork. So just tell me.
